  1. i load mine with 5.0 and 124 MG jhp @ 1.10 and get 1080 fps. For steel i would think you can load it as low as you want so it functions in your gun.
  2. that would be surprising to me in that they have a whole reloading room set up for making ammo. vids on the youtube and all.
  3. grab a .150- .160 from dawson and put it on. this will bring it to the top of the blade. its how i have mine set up and its great
  4. i look more at my finishes against others than the classifier. If you consistantly shoot with the experts, you are most likely very close to being one. The classifier can be shot and practiced till you get where you want to be, but when it time to bring the A game, sometimes it doe not show up on anything but paper.
  5. you shoot a match and the club does not put in your classifer. apparently did not pay. Is there any recourse if the MD does not act? Thanks
  6. ammo is always available, it up to you if wish to pay the price. Some people wish to be charitable with their ammo, some do not. If the price of available ammo is too high for your liking , keep looking, don't shoot, or wait it out, are the likely options. you don't need ammo to live.
  7. for those that still want to shoot it. due to a scheduling conflict I will not be able to go. I have notified the MD and he said he will try to fill it for me. So if you want to go, email him about it!!!
  8. i think there might be some mistakes in the list. looking at Production M and A, they list a D Lee twice.
  9. so is one of the mags on your belt not loaded to 10 rounds? I would also look at why the magazine is falling out. check out kytex gear, $15 a pouch and the mag isn't going anywhere. there is a balance between retention of the mag and the force needed to remove it. what was happening was that every once in a while it would fall out if it got caught by the garment when doing a reload, or on a prone stage. As it was not really needed, decided that unless the stage calls for it, i don't carry the extra mag. I am too lazy to look up the rule book, but i don't think there is anything in it that requires the 3rd mag be carried
  10. I've noticed that i rarely use the 3rd mag in matches. I used to keep the 3rd mag in its pouch, but after a few times of my mags falling out and getting penalize for it, i have stopped doing so unless needed. So how often do you use the 3rd mag??
  11. depends on what you want to do with it. if you just want to use it to blow off tools and clean guns, a small pancake will do. if you wish to run tools like impact gun and sanders, a big upright will be better. I have 3 that i have accumulated over the years. a pancake which runs a nail gun mostly, a 30 gallon for some tools and a 80 gallon for garage. I i have to chose just one, it would be the 30 gallon. just enough air to run an impact, but portable enough to drag around. I would check on Craigslist for a good Speedaire. I have seen them used for less than $100
  12. For those that have these front sights from dawson, was the .205 height correct for oyur glock 17/34 http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=80001098-1308320881
  13. so i've been playing with 158 gr moly out of my Glock 34. I usually run 147's. the 158's a re going about 850 and the 147s about 900. Most of the times i have used heavier bullets they would print higher. the opposite is true with the 158's. they shoot 2-3 " lower than the 147's at 15 yards. I've been trying to figure out how come. i would like to use them interchangably without having to change my sights. Any have any opinion on why the 158's hit lower?
  14. bet you got some brass that is slightly thicker than what you weer using before. are the offenders the same headstamp
  15. As I understand it, that is the way all Glock triggers function, lightened striker spring or not. It's called "Catching the Hook" and is a skill required to shoot a Glock quickly. After the first shot, you hold the trigger to the rear as the slide cycles. After the slide returns to battery, you move your trigger finger forward (about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch) until you feel the "click". It is now ready to fire. Is this what you are talking about? BC I am actually speaking of what happens after one let the trigger move all the way forward to the rest postition. on a glock with stock springs, the striker spring pushes the trigger bar forward and stops at the end posistion with a lightened striker spring, i have found that the trigger will not move forward enough to allow the trigger safety to do its job. the reason i need to clarify is that i would like to run the springs in a sanctioned match. I don't want to be left out in the cold due to failure at the equipment check stage
  16. thank you for the reply. I understand the principal of the trigger safety and how it works. the situation i am speaking of is when the trigger does not go fully forward due to lightened striker springs if released slowly.
  17. I have found that if glock reduced striker springs are used, many times the trigger safety will not be activated if the trigger is let out slowly. So do they test for this in a sanctioned match??
  18. let try it again let say i decide to do a new club. i will be the MD and will set the COF, arrange setup and teardown. All ya gotta do is show up, pay your money and shoot. Even Ro/SO's are included in the price. All you need to do it tape, shoot and leave. How much would this convience be worth to you?
  19. everyone knows that IDPA and the other venue is considered a volunteer sport. People help set up matches and set up props and target. In my area it $15 to shoot IDPA. So if a person were to have a buismesss that does both venues and all you have to do is show up and shoot, how much of a premium would you pay for it?? 5/10/20 more?
  20. Guess I need to pony up for a new belt!!!
  21. I run in production and am dabbling in Limited now. I run a Glock in Productio and a MP in Limited. I only have 1 belt that I swap out the holster, etc according to which i am shooting. So do you have separate belts for each gun/holster combo?
  22. steel cases are ok, but is the ammo itself ok??? I know a few guys that have shot steel TULA out of MP'S and various other guns. they seem to be underpowered with hard or dud primers.
  23. I looked up the bullet you are using and its the roundness that is the problem. the shape of the bullets make it so you have to load them deeper. they make a 125gr one that looks better. i have loaded flat points that short before i would back off the charge and start from the beginning with the shorter OAL. After you burn them up, go for the more pointy ones
  24. I run an mp9 for production and a mp40 in limited. Both are basically stock except for sears. i run the same production gear in both. this is against the high dollar guns. I have shot a few matches and the finishes are about the same for both guns. As production is limited to 10 round and you are used to the 1911 platform, maybe a 9mm 1911 might work.
