  1. Here is what i see. your aquisition is slow your transition should be to tuck in and back out , IMHO you should be guiding your mag with your finger and not holding it on the bottom. you release from slide lock with your left thumb. If you are doing a slide lock reload, do it with the right thumb. The other hand should be getting ready to fire.
  2. Shoot both and everything else you can.
  3. i would measure the height of the front sight and see if there is a corresponding height in the Dawson website. I see they make up to a .315 v .100 front sight for the MP. If you are shooting steel, most people prefer a thinner front sight as to not cover the plates at distance, as a thick sight would
  4. is it silver or black?? the black ones are the older ones and they broke with a lot of dryfire.there is a pix on the web with all the generations of strikers Call up SW and ask them for a new one.
  5. i think they make the front sight in 2 heights. a .215 and .245. measure and see which one you have. I bet its the .245. grab the .215 and it should bring up the groups about 2 1/2 inches at 20 yards
  6. the regular kits do not shorten the pretravel, only the reset. If you wish for very little pretravel, you need to get the FSS trigger
  7. i understand situation like this, but for us, it was just tearing down our own stage. when a guy was going to getting permision to tear down, the guys took off.
  8. shot the local match today. right after our squad finished, 2 guys just grabbed their bags and took off. They seemed to have experience shooting uspsa by how they shot. So in these kinda situations, who is responsible for having people tear down stages?? MD? RO? If people continually do it, what recourse is there? Can they be banned from the club? Thanks
  9. i have a bunch of 9's and i have standardize on 1.12 for 147gr FP. i have found this OAL will run in all my guns and is reliable feeding. As to lighter recoiling question, it depends on if you are trying to make PF for gun games. A 147gr loaded the same PF as a 124 will recoil less in my exprerience. some prefer it to the snap of a 124, but many feel the snap and faster slide speed of the 124 helps in follow up shots. you can load as light as you want as long as it will function in your gun. Changing to a lighter recoil spring will help a lot in the functioning with lighter loads. Lot of glock and MP guys go for 13# springs.
  10. this kind of situation can happen if one is using mixed brass. let say one happens to grab a case to set the flare. the case just happens to be a long case. when one sets it and it looks correct, shorter case will end up with less flare. when setting the flare, i measure a few cases and use the shortest on and set it with that case
  11. if you have or can borrow a chrono, use it. its the only way to be sure how how fast it goes and if it make PF. the reason most JHP need to be loaded shorter is the ogive. JHP remain straight further towards the tip, while most FMJ start getting pointy further down. To determine what works in your guns, make some dummy rounds and shorten them till they drop in and out of your chamber freely. shorten it a little more for insurance and then use that OAL.
  12. Buy a lee FCD and install it. these are just the situations that it is designed to resolve.
  13. clean the sear block if its gummed up and that might fix it. i had it on my 9 and after i cleaned all the gunk out it never did it again
  14. I want to try some Ram shot true blue with my moly bullets. Anyone have experience with this combo?
  15. i have been advised before thta when running a u shaped or straight left right/ right left course, that it is best to run it the opposite of your strong hand. so if you are right handed, you would run it left to right and vice versa, The reasoning is that on the reloads it is less likely to DQ Any truth to what i have been told?
  16. use this info with caution. i have loaded 200gr molys with 4.4 Wst @ 1.13 to get 169PF out of my 5" MP Pro. Runs well with little recoil and hits the steel with a thump.
  17. i am using 3.6 and it make 135 pf . the data reminds me of solo 1k in that with the max loads listed there is no way it would make PF . I have shot a few thousand with my load with no problems. Of course you should work up your loads
  18. has anyone done any testing to see if recoil spring weight has any affect on velocity of a load??
  19. i have realized the same thing. 125's were ok at 50 feet. anything over that and it spread out quite a bit. I got some 147gr and tested them and the groups shank and stayed consistant out to 30 yards. now i dont have this problem with my other 9's. they shoot both 124/5's and 147 the same. So just to keep consistantcy, i just buy 147 grain molys and be done with it
  20. i am looking for a production gun for uspsa and a esp gun for IDPA. I think i might just order a CZC one
  21. thanks for the reply I am comparing the $1200 shadow custom and the regular Sp01.
  22. I am not sure which way to go. I would like a CZ custom sp01 shadow. its got all the goodies already. The other way i could go is to buy a Sp01 and build my own out of parts. So which way seems to be the way to go?? the difference in price between and CZC shadow and a Sp01 is about $500.
  23. i would change powders to a a more filling one, and use the regular disk instead of the micro disk. I have been using WST for my 40 and it fills the case well with 4.5- 5.0 grains and a 180gr bullet.
  24. for me i have to aim at the C area to have them fall into the A when shooting weak handed.
  25. I measure my crimp at .377/378 consistantly. I keep reading people crimp at .368-.373 many times. So what is the correct crimp for 9mm?
