  1. Psky, We not going to see your smiling face there????? May be still a chance to get a slot on the wait list. You will get to see all kinds of neat stuff, like dillards moonclip holder, Tom might let you play with his gun (I wanted to try it at Mississippi but it just didn't work out that way). You might even get to see me with one of those silly bottom feeding, more than 6 capacity, reciprocating, fancy smancy Limited guns. ....Notice I did not say kicking some butt with it. Any way, sure would be nice to see you and a whole bunch more there. Hopalong
  2. Happy Birthday my Friend!!!!!!! couldn't have happened to a better person. HOP
  3. Now Tom, Don't get all excited about this, you just fell off a roof....It CAN'T be good for you. Just to make sure anything I posted did not stir you up. I did post...."To each His/Her own, I'll take steel." I just had to mention the other, as Mine on my 646 was bad sticky after the first 6 shots.....UNTIL I polished it out, now no poblems....even when shooting "Major" loads out of it....Not often though as it is WAY too light for more than 4 or 5 shots. SEE what you did........I wanted to hear what the last of the "Noisy 3" had to say. You and Many others are agreeing here(me too) that it is pretty much like this.... Keep it a 6 gun..... NO PORTS or COMPS...... IRON SIGHTS...... all else go ahead and do what you want, just keep it SAFE !!!!! If we want to tinker.....TINKER If we want to shoot a stock gun, So be it. Now let's get to the important stuff........ HOW can we get all the REVO shooters out there to attend the Nationals??????? HOPALONG
  4. Way to go Renee !!!! Woo Hoo !!! While on the subjet of Renee....... When I was so graciously getting trounced by Athena and Kay with their Open guns...... Renee slipped in and Trounced me too with her Limited gun....Taking High Lady Limted!!!! Sorry to not have said that, but I can only relate one or two a$$ kickings at a time. Congratulations Renee, you deserve it. Hopalong
  5. 7 Wheelgunners !!!!!! Surely we can scratch up 3 more and be in the double digits. 25 is cleaned and oiled, ready to go. .45 ACP are loaded, ready to go. Moonclips cleaned, ready to go. Cr holster, checked out ready to go. Hopalong, worn out, Burned up from being on the roof, but still ready to go. Gonna be great! See you there. Hopalong
  6. Sorry to be the Spoil Sport....... But for the 2007 Mississippi Classic I will be shooting a Bottom Feeding, Multi cartridge capacity, Auto loading "Benny Blaster" Limited gun. I have scratched the idea of the "Southern National Revolver Championship" too, Just can't seem to drum up enough support, and enthusiasm to warrant the effort it will take. So IF you guys/gals want a "Southern National Revolver Championship" you had better start planning on Jackson Mississippi in May, 2007. John and Company will do their part, it is up to you good people to do yours. Again, Great match John!!!!! Hopalong
  7. I looked at their website that is linked from the USPSA website. I found nothing about it?????? Anybody know anything about it? Hopalong
  8. I was going to stay out of this "discussion" and just watch until now so here it goes. Damn Cliff, be quiet.....Let all the 610 guys show up at the 20 stage Nationals and have thier "fumbled reload"....which we all have and it includes Mr. Miculek. Some just do it faster than others, and some not as often. On "Space gun' revolvers...... In USPSA/IPSC you are allowed 6 shots before reloading, it does not say you can't use the 7 and 8 shot guns....but why ask for trouble? On Modifying guns, my take (remeber my sig line on opinions) It is a revolver, just make sure you load after 6 shots......I like the idea of the "Frankengun" but all that "good stuff" isn't worth one piss if you don't know how to take advantage of it (IF there is any advantage at all). My take on the Ti cylinder.....Originally meant to lengthen cylinder life around the locking slots, and I'm sure it does. Also takes out some of the "torque" of the gun, and I'm sure it does. I've seen a few, have not tried one out except the one in my 646 (shoots fine, but too light)....For each his/her own but I'll stick with steel of some sort. (DID see a fellow down at the Space City match with a hole in his hand from the ejector rod because his ti cylinder got sticky after the first few reloads, and he was cleaning it with an electric drill between stages. Yes Dr, Dremmell is correct, I too started with a 610. I could shoot it as good as the 625 I switched to (better at long range stuff) but I would still be using it if it was as good a platform for our game as the 625......or 25 that I am currently testing out....Next test the KENTUCKY OPEN/ Sectional see some of you there. As to the big 3.........They are not the big 3...........They are only the NOISIEST 3 of the bunch! Sure would like to see Mr. Burkholder at Barry, Also Rudy, and Dillard, and Jack Grahm, and Rich Bitow, and Jason Petitt, and Vick Pickett......You get the idea by now.....you know any of them, please attempt to get them to come play.....and any others who shoot one of these side feeding, multi reloading, ancient art forms that are'nt designed to be shot in "ACTION PISTOL" sports. Now remember my old signature line........ "Remember the K.I.S.S. meathod" AND remember my current signature line.... "Opinions are like Noses and Asses.........Everybody has one, and some of them SMELL" Good luck to all, good shooting to all, but most important ...... BE safe and HAVE FUN !!!!!! HILLJACK......I mean Hopalong.
  9. Daemon, You are quite welcome! The best way to say "Thank you" though is to send others to this place, and when and if possible drop our fine host a few greenbacks for his "touble". good luck, and good shooting. Hopalong
  10. I would like to beat Carmoney to the punch here..... Congratulations to John Burkholder for winning the Revolver Division!!!!! Seems like more and more revolvers out there mixing it up in USPSA...... Hopefully he'll make the trip to Barry in September and we all get to shoot with him (at least all those shooting a wheelgun) I'll just have to settle on meeting him. Any Way Congrats to John!!!! Hopalong
  11. Can I add a little here? Oh well, I will any way! I had the pleasure of shooting with Athena at the Space City Challenge(and the rest of the squad ) That was the first time I had been around her for more than the usual "Hi how's it going? shooting good? ect. Not only can she shoot, She is very "bubbly" and fun to be around.....NOT a surprise from all the other Lady shooters I know. You ladies set an example many of us men need to take notice of......... And did I mention she can shoot too??? Nice shooting Athena, I was the lucky one to have had the privledge. Hopalong Oh in case anyone didn't know....... Kay was in the fight from start to stop, and shot well too!!!!!! As did the rest of the ladies in my squad. Hop
  12. Well it looks like myself shooting a wheelgun, Rodney May, shooting a Sig in Production, and Stan Wigginton shooting Ltd are gonna make the trip up. We'll be shooting Saturday PM/Sunday AM. See you guys/gals there, bring a smile and be ready for a good time. HOPALONG
  13. Steve, If you plan on ever using it as a carry gun, for Liability purposes do not do any self gunsmithing. Your best bet is send it to either Smith and Wesson and have them do a perfomance action job....(See Smith & Wesson website) or any other well known, competent gunsmith (and insured). IF you ever have to use it for self defence and you have tinkered with it the liability falls directly upon you. The 617(.22lr) can also have an action job done to it....but the nature of .22 ammo and the differences in case thickness, case alloy and hardness will cause you to always run that gun at a heavier weight than what you can get your 686 to. My suggestion, (which means squat) is send them both to the Same gunsmith and have him/her set up the 617 first and make sure it is 100% reliable, then send the 686 if you did not send them at the same time, and have him/her set it up exactly like the 617. BUT ....... DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF........and carry the gun for self defence purposes. Good luck, and welcome to the forums. HOPALONG
  14. Congrats Danbagger !!!!! Ever since we saw you at the 2005 Florida Open we knew you were one of the ones to watch. Looking like a pretty tough Summer Blast, and Nationals......getting more and more Competitive. I may be glad I decided to shoot Limited at the Nationals......Then I can have an excuse as to why Manny, Travis, SmittyFL and all the real good shooters thrashed me like a sugar cane. Looking forward to a great battle at the Summer Blast. HOP
  15. Update on Nationals entries..... 1 Redmist10 2 Marmot452 3 Aerosigns 4 D.Carden 5 Revoman 6 Keith 7 Jerry M. 8 Sweeney........I know he has a slot, but have not heard from him in a long while. 9 Carmoney 10 Carmoney 11 DSmith 12 TomMainus 13 Waltermitty 14 Master Walsh 15 R112Mercer 16 Sloflyr 17 Bill Nesbitt 18 J.Baqakis 19 Smithy45 20 Barretone 21 Double Action 22 Lefty45 Well, looks like things are looking up for the Wheelgunner division. Might be sorry I sent my entry in for the Ltd Divison...........Nahhhhhh Still have to hear back from several others that normally shoot.....Could be a new record...by a good bit. Maybe we'll see some international flavor.........haven't heard from Spook and Richardo in a while........ Rudy? Dillard?.....He told me his goal this year was to make Production Master....Good luck Dillard See ya'll there......even though I'll be running a bottom feeder. Hopalong Edit to remove a double post. HOP
  16. Scooter, You might want to ask again.......with the question something like this...... You might want to reconsider the level II Sanction guys...... Since Jerry and S&W will be there, and Elliot, and it being a later in the year match....If you go level III and really promote it (and Jerry) you can draw 20+ revolvers....might even draw more than the USPSA Nationals.......IF it is a level III match, Next years National slots are awarded the top 3 in any Division that has 20 or more shooters. S&W sure would be happy (and might throw in more goodies) if you had the largest showing of Revolver shooters at a match. There is a pretty large following of wheelgunners down there, a good bit more than the local bunch around Mississippi and they had 17 at their state match. Besides, a few of the guys might want another shot at Jerry after the Nationals....... Toss them that bone....and let them chew on it a little while.... I myself will not travel more than 4 hrs for a level II match.....BUT.....a level III match with National slots on the line.......THAT is another story!!!!! You might even draw some of them "Northerners" that are seemingly shy of shooting down south. Just a sugestion....... But what do I know??? I'm just a dummy that shoots.
  17. As of now it is on the Calendar!!!!! AND......I'll try not to run over you again. Congrats on the win. HOP
  18. Now that I have a little time..... Congrats to Carmoney on a great match win!!!!!! Mike, you did good.......but that one little Mike/no shoot penalty.......Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. Still room for improvement. Good luck at the Iowa Section, seems like D. Carden wants a rematch. Hopalong
  19. Well I finally made it home for more than 10 minutes.... After a week to think about this match I have decided it was still one of the FUNNEST matches I have ever shot with a wheelgun!!!! Sorry you guys out in Kansas missed it. Tony "I'm not shooting a revolver" (Glock Phan) I enjoyed watching you run that new glock you have. Don't worry about all the ribbing.....You would have gotten it anyway. GUYS/GALS........WATCH JOHNNIE BRISTER !!!!!!!!! It has taken him 3 months to get where he is........A major THREAT at any match and I'M sure he will be the first ALL GUN GM !!!!!! I want to congratulate all the revolver shooters who attended this and the Kansas match....I still don't understand why anyone would want to go to a level II match instead of a level III......but I'm just a dummy that shoots. I want to personally thank all the revolver shooters that attended the 2006 Mississippi Classic. Had we gotten the 20 the revolvers, the Division would have been the 3rd largest of the match...(production had 18 and we were 17) I really want to thank Tom and Dennis.....Tom came from Wisconsin and Dennis from Maryland just to bump elbows with a bunch of "Hilljacks" Thanks guys, maybe next year it'll be bigger....can't get much better. All the rest of you thanks again, we tried but it just did not work out (this time).
  20. Will this match be a level II or a Level III match???????? HOP
  21. Got a quick second to comment. GREAT MATCH !!!!! Most fun I have had at one in a LONG time!!!!! Good shooting with Bawana and the rest of the crew Friday...you guys are great! I personally just got a little lucky. Congratulations to Johnnie Brister!!!! Mississippi Section Champ.....that makes him the only one to win the state title in all the recognized divisions. Gotta go back to Kentucky and work now.....see ya later. HOPALONG PS Thanks for all the help and attempt to make the 20......John said if we liked the stages this year wait until next......HE told me he wants the Mississippi Classic to be a "MUST SHOOT" match for revolvers and intends to do what he can to make it so. HOP
  22. We shot this at the Mississippi Classic this weekend. I did it with a 7.2127 Hit factor in Revolver. (8.18 down 1) and the Ohio calculator said it is a 157% Kind of messed up there You thinK? HOP
