  1. thank you so much for this post! i've been wanting to do my first competition but always end up with some excuse not to... truth is im scared of embarrassing myself which i've been told will not be the case! from what i've heard and learned from reading so many posts on this site is that competitive shooters are a very very respectful crowd!
  2. oh ok, so there's more to it than just a double stack 1911 style pistol haha
  3. really not something that can be judged by the "age" but something to be judged by maturity and the level of respect for responsibilities in my honest opinion
  4. I'm in the same boat and from all the research i've done these past couple of weeks i think im going with DAA
  5. I guess im (paranoid) as well because whenever im sitting and my niece and nephews are anywhere near me and anywhere near my muzzles direction i automatically get up and just stand around or i instantly reposition my body in order to change direction of my muzzle. That's with my safety on and safely holstered, i'd much rather be too safe than to be careless and risk my families safety
  6. wow, very suprised to see that you guys are saying people are going from 38 to 9mm. im very new to the sport and from what i've learned from lots of reading these past couple of weeks i had assumed that it was the other way around!
  7. i've got an 9mm spartan and picking up a trojan in 9mm as well, they're extremely fun to shoot to say the least! not to mention it's a whole lot cheaper lol
  8. only reason i'd see a weighted magwell would be justifiable would be if your pistol were to be extremely top heavy, other than that it wouldn't serve any beneficial purposes imo
  9. any certain brand / model chronograph you suggest? im fairly new myself
  10. i have the king tuk for my 1911 as well, only complaint is that it hikes up my boxers where the holster is for some odd reason. for my smaller frames i've tried several different holsters such as the remora / foxx holster / desantis / and a few more that has slipped my mind. the foxx holster and desantis is very comfortable and very well concealed. Alien holsters have a very very long waiting list!
  11. thank you for the warm welcome sir! most importantly thank you for your service for the safety of my loved ones and I
  12. thank you very much sir! the amount of knowledge i've absorbed already is amazing!
  13. No i'm not, im vietnamese =)
  14. I've just recently decided to get into competitive shooting and so far i've obtained an 38SC with Tripp frame / Caspian slide / Schuemann barrel / c-more 6dot. I'm currently in the market for a holster / belt / mag pouches and just made a deal on a good starters reloading set up (just need 38sc dye). so if anyone has preferably DAA holster / i wear size 32-33 pants so not sure what size belt to get / mag pouches and 38sc dye for sale please send me a message! also prefer the belt etc to be blue or black. What i would like to know is, what else do i need to get started? I've searched many threads to find out what training techniques etc to practice but it would be great if you guys can link it all on this post so i can find everything much much easier! My name is Luan (male lol) by the way and thank you all very much for having me here!
  15. I guess i'm something like an asian redneck?

  18. agreed on not purchasing used belts, i'm in the market for a new one myself but uncertain of what size to get. i wear size 32-33 belt *ps sorry for hijacking your thread* I am planning to purchase the DAA belt also, thanks very much for the stoeger link. checking out their site right now
  19. what was the price when this sale was going on? trying to see if it went back to normal cause its currently $49.99
  20. currently use a Foxx iwb holster for my 3.8" xdm. very comfortable and well concealed!
  21. middle finger. I have COC and have used it both hands. my strong hand is fine. I dont have jump out of socket issue. just joint pain. I dont think I have arthritis (I'm 30).I first started having arthritis in my early 20's. It's a myth that only old people get it. It hits whatever joint is getting stressed. yup i've had arthritis since my late teens and no one believes it because im "too young" i also have severe back pain but that also isn't possible because im "too young" lol
  22. i think you're simply second guessing your training in the comp, the over-thinking is making you fight your muscle memory (what you trained to do)
  23. great article! thanks for sharing this and more than likely helping several others
