ok i just purchased a used Pro sx that got the pistol from GM shooter Dan Mitchel. Guy i got it from has no idea how many lbs spring it is and i have no clue as well. Mr. Mitchel did replace a few things on the pistol so i don't know if i should go with the spring Brazos used on the build or find out whether Dan replaced the spring with a different lb spring. Basically my question is how many lbs spring should i get lol. My friends said Wolff but don't know how many lbs. it's 38supercomp btw. thanks guys

Hey brother I found a site that has one VIP in 38 super for right under $1800. Any idea if they were able to custom order that from sti? Or would they have had to convert it to 38 super themselves?

the price on it was very very surprisingly low, If i recall correctly it was between 1450-1550 for the Sti tactical SS 4.0 in 40cal brand new

man, just got back from the gunshow and one vender had the most wilson combats / ed browns / nighthawks i've seen altogether in my lifetime. They also had an STI Tactical 4.0 and my heart was pounding!!! till i seen SS haha

yeah i carried my full size les baer 1911 for years, size and weight won't be an issue at all. 45 is just too expensive to shoot these days. I might go with 9mm

yeah i do like the VIP alot too! just wish they offered 38 super so i can do minor changes to make it 38SC

yeah i carried my full size Les Baer 1911 for a couple years. You brought up a good point on the possibility of having my firearm held for a year + but then again i'll take that risk for something i'd have 1000% confidence carrying knowing that i'll be capable to take a higher percentage of what may be necessary shots.

Couldn't find an Open carry or conceal section so i figured this would do. Ok i'm currently trying to decide on what firearm i should get for my EDC (everyday carry) and i will be doing concealed carry only. It must be double stack 1911 style (2011) and i'm trying to stay under $2,500. I really really want it to be 38 supercomp or 38 super and i'll convert to SC if needed. May consider 9 major or even 45acp (NO 40). 4inches would be great but not mandatory cause I used to conceal carry my Les Baer Ultimate tactical carry 5" for 2+ years and discomfort was never an issue. So far i'm looking at the STI VIP / STI TACTICAL 4 or 5 I also would love to give the Wilson Combat KZ45 full size of compact version but they're discontinued and i've had 0 success in finding one so far. Oh yeah, i wanted 38sc due to the fact that i'll be competing with that caliber so I think i'll be most comfortable with that caliber as well as consolidating to only 38SC caliber for all my pistols which would be great! i fired the same ammo in my brazos and had 0 issues

Someone help please! Finally had some time to go shoot it and it is piercing holes thru the primer. Shell ejects and feeds next round but the second round does not detonate. Just get a flat splat with indentation in primer but no bang. Any idea what's the problem? Thanks for any help!

thank you as well as everyone else for taking the time to help me! i ended up finding an BCG Pro SX for an incredibly good deal. The trigger and hammer and grips from what i can see. Seller purchased it from a good friend whom used it to get to GM and guesses approx 30k rounds but that's just a wild guess. what all should i be looking to replace with that many rds fired?
