Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I live close to Shooter's Paradise and now that I know that about Mr. Strader I will certainly drop in and see what they have going on. As far as concealed carry is concerend I'm just trying to find what's most comfortable without having to remove anything when driving. I only own one IWB style holster and one shoulder type (which I really don't like, I think it's a cheapie though). I guess I'll have to buy a couple of others and see what works best for me. Just found out todat that my rotator cuff is torn in my weak arm. It hurts like hell when I bring both hands up to aim. Looks like I'll be practicing some one armed firing for awhile.
  2. Thanks for the additional good info fellas. I have been carrying a flashlight around with me too, usually when I walk out to my car at 1:30 in the am to see if this nutjob has been by. Carlos I've thought about competition before, I'm a pretty good shot given what I know. If I actually learned some proper technique and applied it, who knows, maybe I could get into competing.
  3. Hey Kyle Shooter's Paradise is where I get practically all of my practice in, although I haven't been in awhile. I called their the other day and the fella said they were under new management and were doing some redecorating or something. Can't wait to get in there and see any changes they've made. xSRDx I guess I too am kind of like your friend. I now carry either my Firestar 9mm or my Glock 27 _everywhere_ I go. However my entire family is being stalked by a convicted felon, heroin addicted suicidal nutjob.
  4. Thanks for the opinions and the links.
  5. I apologize in advanced if I've posted this one in the wrong forum. I realize that this may seem like a newbie question but I've been shooting for many years, I've just never before carried a weapon so frequently and I've heard so many mixed opinions on this that I thought I'd post it here. When carrying a handgun for personal protection, is it a good idea to keep a round chambered? My current carry handgun is a single-action Firestar 9mm and carries only 7 rounds in the mag. Sure I'd like the extra bullet but is it safer to carry without it? The only reason I can think of to not have the extra round is in a case where maybe your handgun has been taken from you or you are wrestling for it. Not having that extra round could be the difference in your assailant getting off a shot or not. Opinions?
  6. Yeh I've tried carrying the way Steve described and it definitely conceals very well there, however I have to take it out and stash it somewhere when getting in the car. I guess I am going to have to try a few different methods and see what works best for me. Probably will go with the strong side holster under a button down shirt for awhile.
  7. LoL, I guess I didn't detect the humor in Detlef's post. Boy I hope two mags is enough.
  8. Northern VA, Prince William County. I've read through the laws pretty well on this subject, I thought, is there an issue with carrying extra magazines?
  9. Hi folks, I've been lurking here for about a month and have found some very good information I plan to apply next time I'm at the range. I live in Virginia and am awaiting a new concealed carry permit. I was wondering if anyone could offer me their opinions on a good holster or other technique for carrying concealed weapons comfortably and practically. For now I'll be carrying a Star Firestar M43 with two additional magazines. Was considering using a shoulder holster with the other two magazines under my right arm, but this doesn't seem to me the best way to carry in summer clothing. Any suggestions? Thanks...
