  1. This. I always liked the idea of opening a new 6+ revolver division instead of lumping the 7 and 8s into the current division. Nope. If there were to be a new revo division, it should be open revo. Bottom feeders have an option to use optics when their eyes get weak. Revo doesn't have that option unless you shoot ICORE. Agreed. Don't get me wrong folks, I don't have all the answers here for one or two divisions. I like the idea of keeping one six major and the other open. But, two divisions might stretch things out too thin. On the other hand, keeping one division might result in some regulars heading out to another division. Or, bringing in 8 minor might increase revo participation. It's just a see what happens type deal. Guess we'll find out the direction soon.
  2. They must be legal. I've seen you wear these to IDPA matches and you was not DQ'ed LOL! I'm calling them GTG. There is nothing in the NRB that forbids such garments of clothing.

  4. No experience with the Dillon but I have Lee FCD's set up on the fourth station of my 550 for both 9 and 45. The Lee not only puts the crimp on but sizes the case back down, bullet and all. I use only lead bullets and have had no issues whatsoever even with the really firm crimp needed for 45 in revolver. In fact, I had more trouble putting a tight roll crimp on. YMMV
  5. Come Oct.1st those limited guns, open guns, 22s or whatever will be welcomed at the local level. You just have to sign "not for competition" on the scoresheet LOL
  6. I can dig it! I think a system like that would be incredibly helpful in a number of ways. This is a little different than dealing with match bumps but just as an example here it is. This year I have went from ESR/SS to ESR/EX to ESR/MA. I won ESR/SS at the indoor nats and the next week back shot an ESR/EX time. Since then I've shot 4 majors that had a total of 6 ESR/EX in them and DC'ed those matches. I decided to work towards ESR/MA because I felt as was performing at either a high EX level or probably low MA level. I made it last month with 99.9. But how could I really know where I'm at with the whole field basing it off that few shooters??? Craig's math would answer that for me.
  7. Well, gotta confess this is probably my fault. The last time I shot at Owensboro was over a year ago and the scores didn't come out until Thursday of the week after the shoot. I would check the website periodically through the season and noticed they would generally come out Monday or Tuesday at the latest. BUT, on a whim, I did shoot there on the 17th, so don't expect to see anything until tomorrow at the earliest LOL! One of the great things about late scores is that no matter how bad you performed, by the time you see the results you've forgot all about it. If memory serves, an email notice will be sent. If not, you can keep checking here http://orpci.org/ where the scores will be listed.
  8. Come Oct.1 you can run that gun at a local match and see what you've been missing out on!
  9. 100% ESR definitely the most fun you can have in IDPA!
  10. Just a thought that I've seen work at other clubs. Kind of goes like this: Match Registration is Open from 9:00-9:30. If you are not registered by 9:30 you do not shoot. No exceptions. Once registered, you are assigned to a bay. Someone will say something like: "You'll be starting on squad 2 in bay 2. You can go help set up there now." Start times are declared like this: We will start shooting when the courses are set up. Works efficiently where I've seen it run this way.

    625PC

The most important part of this post is that we have another ESR shooter! LOL Kind of surprised at the lite strikes right out of the factory too. But, I've heard similar stories on other factory 625s.
  12. Listen, I don't want to sound critical and I have absolutely no dog in this fight personally, but anybody who is working on other people's guns in exchange for compensation needs to have an FFL in order to be in compliance with federal law. This is not something to mess around with. I remember you explaining that issue somewhere in the enosphere a while back. It was educational and shed light on things most would never had thought of. If I can find it I'll post.
  13. Is that the must work in single action? No, it's the action can't cycle through with the cylinder out. Kind of a problem on several carmonized hammer guns. I've seen your 625 and Sam left plenty of hammer to stop on the cylinder bolt. That's sort of the hammer we're all having to go to now if a full strength bolt spring won't stop our cut hammers. 8.1.7.5. Disconnecting or disabling of any safety device including (but not limited to): manual safeties, grip safeties, firing pin, striker, and hammer blocking safeties, 1911 series 80 firing pin safeties, 1911 Swartz safeties. 1911 series 80 frames may be used with series 70 slides or vice versa. Revolver actions may not be modified so that the hammer can fall when the cylinder is open.
  14. Paul Francis is my revosmith (bosshoss on this forum). I've had 4 done by him. One came from Sandburr Ranch and I still took it to Paul. In my opinion he's one of the best in the business and knows exactly what comp shooters are looking for, as he is a comp shooter himself (USPSA/ICORE/Steel). I think he was a machinist professionally before retiring. He also works very fast, I've never had a revo with him past two weeks. Doesn't have an FFL (yet), so something will have to be worked out for shipping but I think you'll find it's well worth it. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showuser=30908 Here's a few pics of his metal work. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=177904
  15. Nice rig. A lot of us have fallen into the SHR ("Stupid Hammer Rule" affectionately called such by my revosmith). You've probably already tried this, but a full strength bolt spring might get just enough tension to keep the hammer from falling. I stopped one of my 625's that way, the others I've had to recut new hammers.
  16. Sometimes I make myself laugh. I just envisioned myself in line at the equip check with another revo shooter with a Carmonized hammer. I get DQ'ed for light showing through while the other guy walks with a hammer literally cut in half! LOL In our sport, anything can happen
  17. I use a couple of those 2" tall or so tackle boxes that have 2x2 (or so) compartments. I've got the larger ones and they hold around 24 clips (144 rounds). When I'm done with a stage, I just drop back in where they came from and the clips stay nice and protected.
  18. Thanks Craig. These things have crossed my mind and I have a peace about it. I don't like to write what I'm about to write because it just comes off petty, but if such a thing occurs, that will be all for my IDPA revo journey and I'm OK with it. I hear some IDPA revo shooters enjoy CDP, so I'll have somewhere to play.
  19. Put the gun through some paces today at a local IDPA match. Had one FTF, but that seems to happen everytime I want a seventh shot on a six shot gun:) Thanks for those pics Paul and putting the weight out there. Very good job, as always.
  20. IDPA's new rule on actions not being able to cycle with the cylinder open coincided with my need of another 625. I quickly found a JM model and sent it off to my revosmith, Paul Francis (Bosshoss on this forum). After discussing ways to bring the revolver into compliance, one of his ideas stuck in my mind- a skeletonized 625 hammer. I couldn't get the picture out of my head, so I told him to go for it. Received a call today that the revolver was ready. I could be mistaken, but I think Paul said that half the weight of the original hammer was gone. Initially, I considered that there might not be enough mass on the revolver for it to do its work. So, we jotted out to the backyard range and put a dozen rounds down. There was 2 failures to fire. Went back to the shop and beefed the mainspring, taking if from 5 and 3/4lb to 6lb (not noticeable by me). Put another 60 rounds through at his place and 40 rounds through at mine and it's been 100% reliable. The one thing we both are wondering about is if the hammer could break. It might, but I ain't skeered Paul said this was an extremely time consuming hammer to make. But MAN does it look COOL!
  21. Ah, Corey, then that is the problem with overlays in IDPA. It would take the sheer joy away from SOs who bask in pressing targets from back to front and stewing over a really dark grease ring or really light grease ring for five minutes while giving you the benefit of the doubt. I don't want to be responsible for taking that away from them.
