  1. Same here. A friend's P16 was that much slower than my SV w/ KKM bull barrel, with the same load. As long as its still accurate, you don't need to replace it.
  2. Nice one Benny! An accidental double charge of Clays will blow that gun sky high. Try loading Clays short and bad things will happen. And need I mention hot sunny days? Boynty77: I forgot to add: there is an alterantive to Clays: Solo 1000 Solo 1000 is single base like the V V powders, it is as cheap as Clays, and there is plenty of published .40 data for it so its quite safe, and its listed on the charts as slightly faster burning than N320 (plus I don't think it will upset poor Benny as much as using Clays).
  3. If you proceed witgh Clays, follow these 2 safety suggestions: 1) Load long. Really long. MINIMUM of 1.200" and you will likely be able to load out to 1.240" if your barrel is throated for it. 2) Stop any chance of set-back. Use the Lee brand U die or the EGW die ONLY. These dies will require the Hornady OneShot case spray that you are supposed to be using anyway (its in Brian's video). Best of luck and please let us know how this load works out.
  4. Thanks for letting the be.com community know. And thanks for registering a complaint. In case anyone else is so inclined, the address to which we should complain about this assinine policy is: "e-mail to customerdesk@usa3000airlines.com , a letter to the address below Attn: Customer Services."
  5. Any early predictions on the number of Major 9 guns used? More than last year? Fewer? Any other equipment surprises noticed?

    V V N320

N320 Substitute: Single Base Solo 1000. So far, so good. (did I mention that its single base like N320?). Nevermind the leftover sitting around at the retailers, we need to find out if its going to be imported to the US at all. To date, there was only ONE US distributor: Kaltron-Petibon. Every grain of V V burnt by reloaders in the US came from Kaltron Petibon - even if it made 2,3, 10 stops along the way. Now looks like there will be only one US distributor: Hodgdon. I hope that is correct as Hodgdon is sold all over the place. Now if we could only get Vectan again in the USA . . .
  7. Correct you are (and I happen to have one for sale for $95 if anyone needs it - sorry about the forum transgression). Its a regular STI black gripframe that STI adds two spacers to and permanently pins them in place. Result is a SS frame that is the same dimensions as a normal STI gripframe.
  8. Seems to be a clear lesson in stage design from such a result (i.e. don't replicate that stage).
  9. Well there does seem to be an old rule from the dark ages of the sport about thumb straps having to be used, but we don't apply it to race holsters and "safety straps" or other gizmos that keep guns from falling out - its not in the rules, its just sort of understood.
  10. Agreed. I recall hearing from a friend who was once sponsored by them that the powder they use is not available as a retail product. If you duplicate the bullet (147 Zero) then a suitable, safe replica of the Atlanta Arms load can be made with Titegroup. Also, I have posted loads for extremely soft-shooting loads with N-310, BUT, the accuracy out of some guns w. this load is not as good as it generally is with N-320 and the N320 load is more safe/forgiving.
  11. I own and shoot an SP 01 as well as having used, in the past, a Glock 17 in USPSA and GSSF. For Production, BOTH the CZ & Glock are very very capable and your choice won't let you down for as far as you wish to go in this sport. Being the CZ fan that I am, I will only comment on a single weakness I can think of with my CZs: their magazines are more sensitive to fine dirt & sand than Glock magazines. The CZ mag is not as bad as a STI/SV, but I still break down my CZ mags and clean them every time they hit the dirt (grass & hard surfaces excepted).
  12. Valid points. Will add that: we, as the USPSA membership, should not judge a division's "popularity" or desireability by comparing the number of entries at a COMBINED Nationals. Of course we will have to combine some divisions until every division has its own Nationals. Until then, we will be forcing some competitors to choose divisions - which does not give us an accurate answer as to "what would they have shot the Nationals were limited to one division each?" Thanks to all who posted pics and reports (accurate and otherwise) it was all entertaining to those of us who could not go.
  13. Which model number? Probably model TGO This photo is from Saul's updates from the match Great photo from Saul's update. Thanks Stewart!
  14. Was under the impression that SA Rugers are popular with those who shoot SASS matches and there must be quite a few SASS revolver smiths out there; perhaps they have an "in" w/ Ruger on parts or could adapt soething for you without trashing the work you have had done? I am afraid I have not been a fan of Ruger since they sold us out on the AWB and due to the fact that I do not see their name on the lists of supporters of USPSA or IDPA competition.
  15. Use the same RCBS enclosed separator. We live in a 2nd floor condo so separating outdoors is not possible around here. Just put the separator in the shower, dump tumbler, close cover, close curtain & walk away for 10 min. The shower gets washed down 2x per day. Another trick is to put a used dryer sheet or similar sized rag that has been soaked in water in with the media & brass. Change w/ each use.

    Hollow points

that's what i've noticed...that bad steel causes splatter. i've seen some pretty ugly steel at matches recently. Agreed. Also, this being the forum it is, I know its not the place to argue. Quick note of explanation on JHP use: since a JHP has an enclosed base, it is favored by many Open division shooters because it prevents lead from being deposited in the compensator. Maybe the issue of JHP use could be raised in the USPSA rules section if someone feels strongly about it.
  17. Good point on Seeklander. Also, I think Angus might shoot L10 and he has certainly given Dave a run for his money in the past, so I would not count him out of the running for top spot. This could turn out to be quite a fight for top spot.
  18. Agree w/ above. Another consideration: cost. $199 at one time would buy you a basic version of a Remington 870 from Walmart (those days might be long gone) But the 870 is a FANTASTIC gun that I personally have used to kill everything from deer to Canada geese to bunny rabbits (you get the idea) as well as serving in 3gun "He-Man/Heavy Metal" division. A semi generally requires AT LEAST $500 and more likely 750 to 1000 (depending on brand). Shoot the 870 for a while - then decide if you really want that semi.
  19. Might try Solo 1000. Super clean and single-base.
  20. Maybe this is not the most constructive or mature suggestion, but have you considered starting up your own USPSA/practice range on your land right along the property line w/ his property? You could even do low-light/night shoots (it would be a shame if you kept the poor guy up). Better yet, invite the local LEO's to train there for free and encourage them to bring their SMGs and .50 BMG precision rifles (who could he complain to then?). Maybe then HE will be the one looking to move (and you could simply wear ear plugs to bed). Seriously though, sad to hear of your situation & best of luck at the new homestead.
  21. Although I am a CZ fan, I am disappointed to hear of these problems - in addition to the apparent import difficulties surrounding tanfoglio competition guns. It puts our friend Henning in a tough spot too. I hope these issues are quickly resolved. FWIW, my SP-01 has proven to be my most reliable and best CZ to date, and I own several in 9mm, 40 and 45.
  22. ". . . every solution we brought forward . . ." I think it should be obvious to everyone that Sarah Brady has a FINAL SOLUTION in mind for every firearm in private hands in the U.S. and it involves melting them down in furnaces as they did in Australia. Think she's happy now & will back off? More likely, the anti gun forces are emboldened by their "victory" and will come after our guns even more in the coming months. Not looking forward to 2008. Have you joined/renewed membership in GOA, NRA, or another pro-gun group of your choice?

    KEAL open gun

Why is the hippie in that photo wearing an IDPA vest? Brit - I owe you a photo of that Tanfoglio trigger.
  24. Sounds like the gun is set up properly with the loads you tried (be certain to get the load data). If it is reliable and the price is right, then it sounds like a good buy. BTW - the gun was gunsmithed in Norway, but where are you living/shooting? Regards, C.
