ampleworks, I think you nailed it.......I'm much more aggressive when drawing from the kydex. It's a more secure feeling. I thought more about it, and it seems there was another poster, I think it was Wakal that had a DOH for an open gun but I can't seem to find the post. DaG

While shooting a steel challenge match today, I noticed my draw times were about 3/10 ths slower with the open gun when drawing from a CR speed vs a plain jane kydex with a Glock. I seemed to be more confident when drawing from the kydex and was wondering if a DOH holster would be possible for an open gun. What y'all think? DaG

What is a "test" of shooting as it relates to USPSA? Long shots with iron sights? 7 yd weak hand targets covered in no-shoots? I wonder after reading Mr. Avery's article. It seems he would prefer the IDPA,low rd ct. style without the "engagement" rules so to speak. Also how does the "test" relate to open class? It seems to me that trigger control, sight alignment,grip and every thing else that goes along with shooting in general is a test.......any info on the "test" would be greatly appreciated. DaG

Have you ever shot/competed with an open gun? If yes, how many different versions of open? shorty,full size, 9 or super ? Maybe try several different guns before dumping the cash on something you're not sure about......... DaG

How does all this relate to a open gun with a Ti comp versus a steel comp versus a standard slide versus a lightened slide? I still for some reason don't understand why a heavy comp will slow down the slide versus the light comp that won't. (or so i've been told) slide and barrel/comp are two seperate entity's. Enlighten me Benos. DaG

What are the walls made of ? Seems that every pic I see of IPSC stages ,the walls are made of green or black see through mesh? What is it? How is it made? Looks like they would be very easy for one person to move around. Maybe some close-up pics of framework? TIA DaG

From what I've read so far, the SV mags according to the majority of posters who are shooting 9Major say the SV mags work without spacers. We as shooters are always looking for the perfect set-up and don't want to spend any more than we have to. With that in mind, are open shooters willing to spend that extra $ to get the "perfect" mag out of the box or do we want to spend the extra dollars for the tube,pad,follower, and insert and then still possibly have to have the mag tuned? I think SV knows they probably have the "perfect" 9Major mag. and can price accordingly but $95.00 is downright ridiculous when STI sells them for $60.00

Hey Guys, I asked Santa (wife) for 4 new sv mags for xmas this year. Yesterday she tells me she calls sv and asked @ 140 mags in 38sup/9mm. When she told me what was quoted to her, i thought no way, must have priced a big stick. So i call today and ask @ availibility and pricing.....in stock,ready to ship,with flat basepad, all for the low,low, price of $95.53 per mag plus shipping.....Could someone enlighten me as to what i'm missing here? Hey Guys, Talked to SV today and they stated the 3 chamber ti comp that is used for the IMM guns is for sale. It comes 3 sided, and is for bull bbls. The price I was quoted is $199.98 Is anyone using this comp? If so, how do you like it? I would like to build a 9 Major and I like the looks of this comp. Any experiences? TIA DaG

Love my OKO. Had one on a STInger and the mount was way too high! Bought a Brazos mount and an OKO adapter plate and it sets almost on top of the slide. IMHO the dot is easier to pick up with the oko. Got one on a Dawson mount right now and it sets real low too. DaG

Start @ .423 with your crimp. At that # you are basically taking the bell out of the case mouth. If you are going to use light bullets, I would stick with Titegroup. I have had good results with TG and 165 JHP's out of MY GUN. If you are loading for the Para, I would try 1.175. Alot of shooters if not most load as long as the mag and or gun will allow. Just my 02 cents. Hope it helps DaG

I tried Frontier 124's in a super. Bad JuJu. Bullets tumbled and the weight was very inconsistent. Crimp was @ .378 and OAL was 1.250. 1345 FPS. Of course this was out of MY gun. Can't beat the price though. DaG

Brazos, Do you find that each barrel takes a different link or is there pretty much a standard # link that you use. The gun in question had a # 2 link and was replaced with a # 2. I took a flashlight and looked and could actually see a gap. I did what you said to do in your 1st post and the slide lock had alot of tension on it. The original barrel (bar-sto) fit by Dawson is fine. Would it be possible to install a # 2.5 link without having to re-fit? DaG

Hey Guys, I recently picked up a another open gun that had a new trubor barrel in it. The barrel was installed new in the past 6 months and has broken 2 links already. I spoke to an STI rep. and he said something about the front of the slide had to be cut back on a 1 degree angle for proper lock-up. I told my gunsmith about this and he had never heard of this before. Has anyone else ever expierenced this problem with trubors? The rep. said alot of smiths did not know this. Does this sound right? Any help would be greatly appreciated. DaG
