I get enough pistol matches in every year and 3 gun is fun but I really want some AR trigger time. When/where are the best domestic rifle only matches (or just rifle and pistol if that exists)? I know New York has one in May and there is usually one in California in April (Bay area last year), any others?

Can You Identify This Song?
Truegent2004 replied to Duane Thomas's topic in Books, Movies, TV & Music
ok another song title that you guys can help me find. I heard it at a club in Vegas last weekend...country type song and the last line of the chorus is "Singing Sweet Home Alabama on Sunday afternoon" (and no its not any remake of Sweet Home Alabama") -
My club is going to use classic targets this year for some of our stages. I'm in charge of researching which vendor is best for price and quality. I see from the USPSA vendor list that I can get 100@$49 plus shipping from Shooters Connection. Anyplace better or experience with Shooters Connection target ordering out there?

Last winter I reloaded around 3,000 rounds before crucial reloading supplies ran out. That inventory barely got me to June, and next year I plan to shoot more. As of tonight I have 4,000 rounds ready to go, and I'm almost out of brass. Should I be content with this stock or should I hit the gun show in 10 days and get some more brass to keep the Square Deal cranking out the rounds. Sure if my house caught on fire I'd probably call the bomb squad instead of the fire department but who cares. My non-shooting friends think I'm nuts but once again who cares. Ok fellow BE'rs, what type of inventory do you build up during the frosty months? Southern boys can watch and laugh at us, but at least we won the Civil War or as they call it.....The War of Northern Agression.

Well 2007 is what you get when the courts, weak administrators, and over zealous parents dictate how schools are run instead of teachers. Great post....made my day.

Too bad they don't use the cover girls from the Dillon Blue Press or the VS catalog....oh well...its still a good read.

Zero 180 JHP users, what are you using now?
Truegent2004 replied to CAB33's topic in 10mm/40 Caliber
+1 for MG 180 JHP's. Cost comparable to Zeros and I love how they chrono in my gun. -
If you want to keep shooting ....buy components in large quantities now. They won't get cheaper. If you don't have the money for it, cut back on the money and budget for it. If thats not possible, then do like sargenv and stay up with the sport as an RO, MD, RM, etc.

My gun hates Georgia Arms Ammo...but why?
Truegent2004 replied to Truegent2004's topic in Rifle - Technical
Looks like everything will work out. I have a friend whose AR works great with GA ammo and he can take it off of my hands. I also found and ordered some Black Hills 223 55 gr. at www.midwayusa.com for $345 for 1000 rounds. Hurry while supplies last -
Today at a 3 gun match I tried Georgia Arms ammo (223 55gr FMJ) in my DPMS rifle (20 inch DCM barrell) for the first time. The ammo seems to fire fine but when I need to extract a round with the charge handle it gets stuck very tight in the barrell. I'm forced to put the butt end against the ground and yank the charge handle really hard....then the unfired brass and and splash of powder granules comes flying out of the chamber breach(Powder ending up in my mouth ). The actual round is stuck in the barrell and has to be squib roded out. This happend more than once. I'm guess the bullet is chambering in the rifling. I calipered some samples and the OAL was in the 2.230-2.233 range. I don't know if this is normal. Also why can the gun action extract each fired round but I cant do it manually?

2007 Area 3 Championship
Truegent2004 replied to DaBlaster's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
Good match even though I'm too depressed to reflect on my disaster of a performance. Nice job of running the match by Manny and the gang. I drove to Osceola, IA last night and was going to shoot the OOPS match today, but a monsoon changed that plan. I guess the IA Sectional in May isn't the only time in rains in the Hawkeye state. Any word on date and place for next year's A3 match??? -

Got my app in the mail yesterday, looks I'll be shooting on Saturday. Since I got oh so close to B class but am still short a few points, maybe I can place high enough to have some end of the season bragging rights. Fellow C class shooters...I plead you to you: A. Shoot anything but limited. B. Stay home C. Load your rounds oh so light (Nothing wrong with minor) or D. Go really fast and and take chances (Be like Manny ). -

Dpms Tri-gun Challenge
Truegent2004 replied to Brian Payne's topic in Multi-Gun, Rifle & Shotgun Match Announcements
Match is over........another great year. Lots of nice people came to shoot. I think the southern accents out numbered the local ones. Great prize table as usual. I didn't shoot that great, but I did place about 20 spots higher than last year. Thanks to all the competitors, DPMS staff, and fellow RO's for making it week to remember. Now I'm off to the store for more Advil (Legs ache and ears hurt) -

Day one went well.....finally had good weather. Saw lots of familiar faces. Ears are still ringing from running Stage 8 (The Darkhouse). Way too tired to give details. More to come later..... -
Mike How dare you accuse me of passing off such an inflammatory telegram. I'm as innocent as Michael Vick........er.........I mean OJ.......no wait.........ok ok I admit it. I did it.

We started setting up stages today. Match has a little bit of everything. If the rain goes, and stays away, it should be lots of fun. -

Got home last night. Opened my duffle this morning... ON SALE: Pure 100% Choice Wisconsin Mud. Clearance Sale! No reasonable offer refused. Great job as usual by the Caspers and their crew. Sad to see A5 going to Michigan next year(Too far for me to drive). Hopefully they will still have the WI Sectional in April again. -

Jay Don't worry about settling for Ben. I shot with him at IA and you can learn plenty by watching him. -
Since I'm the one who started this thread on a positive note, it figures I'd end it this way... I just got back from the Golden Bullet in CA, and a trip up to Portland. Upon getting my bag off of the plane I discovered that the combo lock on my gun case was missing. Oh well.......at least it wasn't my gun missing and my lock still there.
