  1. Perfect timing..last year TX Carbine Championship was my winter get away ...this year its SOF....Yee haw...on my way to Texas
  2. Awesome...and I hate cats.
  3. +1 Living in MN I have put on more than a few miles going to NM, OR, TX, and MS to name a few.
  4. Thanks to everybody who made this match happen. This "little-big" match surpassed my expectations. The people on Squad #2 were nice to shoot with. Thanks again to Mr. Romero for bailing me out of water balloon filling duty. Kurt M. ...dont feel bad about calling me Steve instead of Lee...I'm a teacher..I get called worse things every day. It was nice to finally meet the legendary Hopalong. Only bad thing about my trip down there was eating too much yummy southern bar b que. Time to get outside and burn some calories. Til we see each other again.....
  5. Good question.... Also...how is it a schedule conflict with Adams Arms if its 2 weeks after that match? If you have to move it, wouldnt you rather move it back 2 weeks to avoid conflicts with handgun nationals.?
  6. Anybody got any videos from last year's match? I've found some generic ones with a polish plate rack (Yikes!).
  7. Thanks to Denise, JJ, the great RO's and all the match staff for making RM3G the 3 gun event of the year. JP..thanks for being the main sponsor and giving me the advice to aim low on the clays using the Mossberg on Stage 5, otherwise my match score could have ended up being really crappy....oh wait....too late. I won't get into the "Prizegate" debate, but for those of you who were at the deep end of the table like me and got a Brownells Gift Certificate please take note... The date on my cetificate letter was 2 years old. When I tried to use it online it said the verification code was invalid. I called Brownells(Yes I thanked them for being a sponsor) and they said that particular code was redeemed two years ago. I explained how I got the certificate and they agreed to honor it anway. Thanks Brownells.
  8. Hey..have you heard the rumor that the match is being run by transvestite aliens dressed like Elvis? Me either.....the match is still at the Del-tone range in St. Cloud, MN.
  9. Multi gun matches are great in the summer when you're a teacher! During the school year its hard to justify taking at least 2 days (Usually Friday and Monday) off for one match. Matches on holiday weekends are great since I can travel, shoot, and get back and only have to miss one or no days of work. Are there any Multi-gun or tac rifle matches on Labor Day weekend? October 23-24(State Convention break), Thanksgiving weekend, X-mas break time? Feel free to respond to thread or message me...thanks.
  10. You heard right. I was on the same squad as both of them. Both are good guys who sure know how to hit what they aim at. Thanks to all the match staff, generous sponsors, and the good people on squad 3 for making this very tough match, very enjoyable. I'm sore, sun burned, achey, and need some zzzz's. Such is the weekend of a 3 gunner.
  11. Hey Mike Don't be afraid to put the match on a holiday weekend to ease the travel burden for out of towners. I had a good time at the Corpus Christi match last winter and I would love to attend yours (and only miss one day of work hopefully) as well. I can't wait for the match details.
  12. Will there be a place on the range for shooters who flew in to check their zeros on Friday?
  13. Hell yes I'm still in...and if the match didn't fill up because of the non-pistol factor, I'd gladly pay twice the match fee and shoot 2 divisions if you let me.
  14. I stayed at work until 5 (I'm a teacher) just so I could use my classroom printer...then off to the Fedex Store where it took them 3-4 attempts before the fax went thru at 5:24 pm. I hope the $4 fax charge was worth not sending it snail mail. I know Leah wouldn't want her ex-favorite RO to not be included. Shooting Tac-OP Heavy this year since somebody has to show Jomar how to really shoot a 308
  15. I had similar issues with mags from about 6 months ago...rounds were tilted forward so that some would ram into the front of the mag wall instead of chambering...switching to PMAGs
  16. Lets stick to the choices Scorch offered. I say the first weekend in April is the better of the two choices ....because it fits my schedule. Its all about me baby!
  17. Today at a club 3 gun match I shot my DPMS 308L with Ultramax 110 grain hp's. They sighted in well at the practice range but my DPMS mags hated them. Rounds kept nose diving into the front of the mag wall and jamming. I tried regular 150 grain ammo and they worked fine but the recoil is too harsh for quick shots. I tried my friends handloaded 110 grains (Hornaday soft points) and they ran fine too. Maybe the hollow point is too wide on that bullet for my mags? The Ultramax's group great out of my barrel and I'd love to find a mag that can handle them. I have PMAG's on order and I hope they do the trick. If not a friend told me that they should work in FAL mags, but I'm not sure if those mags will work in a DPMS rifle. Suggestions?
  18. Thanks to all the match staff for their hard work. The delays on Sunday kind of put a damper on things, but it was still a good time. Squad 13 was a very good group to shoot with. Big thanks to my California friends on Squad 14 for running my ammo back and forth. Hopefully some of it will actually make it back to Dan Bagger I have so much to work on until Rocky Mountain and Trigun challenge. Time to order some more ammo..... be damned the cost.
  19. I just got home to 20 degree weather and I'm missing CC already. Thanks to all the match staff for putting on a great match. While this match doesnt have the prestige of some major multi gun events, it was money well spent for this northern boy to come down and get some warm weather trigger time. A trip to Texas is always a great experience (Except for the predictable precipitation I bring with me). A big thanks to all the sponsors as well, especially LaRue. The gift certificate for an upper that I won is helping me stay warm
  20. Is there any place for us that are flying in to verify our zero on Saturday? I verified the 50 yard zero on a snow and ice infested range the other day. I hope that was good enough, because I didn't have the patience to trudge up and down the 200 yard range. I'm looking forward to some warm TX weather.
  21. Geez Dan...you make it sound like it was a baby being born... I hope its a fun match for all of us.
  22. I got a new DPMS 308L that I'd like to use in Tactical-Heavy Rifle (for matches that have that division), but I wont shoot it enough to justify the cost and frustration of rifle ammo reloading. I know there are good surplus ammos out there, but if I'm serious about competing, how about the 110 gr from Ultramax? Much less recoil than any 150 or 180 grain competitior? The light bullet should run ok through my 1:10 18 inch barrel right?? Yes its a bit pricey but there arent that many matches I can shoot it in. Thoughts? Feedback? Product reviews?
  23. Any device out there to speed load/unload DPMS 308 mags? LULA says their product doesn't work on DPMS mags.
