  1. I have a 9 mm conversion barrel by Lone Wolf in a G-24 and it is superb. I did have to change the ejector to get it to run, but that is it. I bought a inexpensive barrel to convert my G-22 to 9mm and didn't have to change anything. I think it depends on several things and you won't know until you try it. By the way my .40 mags run flawless with the 9mm rounds. Buddy
  2. I have been using a blue sharpie for years and mark the head stamp as well as a stripe on the side. It works pretty good until you tumble your brass and that removes the mark. Yesterday I bought a blue sharpie paint marker. I marked some brass and after the paint dried (fast drying) I put them in the tumbler for two hours. It did remove some of the paint, but the paint that wasn't removed turned black. I guess I'll go back to the blue sharpie. Buddy
  3. I've run over 25K Percision bullets through a Nowlyn barrel and have no ill effects. The gun will shoot a ragged hole if you can hold it. I have shot them in smaller quanities in other pistols and have not seen any problems. I shoot lead now due to cost and I really don't see any reason to change. Buddy
  4. I don't think I'll go to this one, but have been to the last four straight. I didn't really like the Orlando show as much as Las Vegas. Make a list of your must see booths and find the numbers in your guide and try to have a certain number of your selected booth's to visit each day. A map of the show will be provided with a book listing the booths and their number. You may have many booths that interest you, but it will be hard to see them all in the four day show. You will run across many other things that will catch your attention, too. It will be very hard to see everything. One of the brochures said to see everything in the four day show that you could only stay seventy-four seconds at a booth. There were 13 miles of isles and 26 miles if you walked up an isle and back down the other side. Get a cart that will hold a bunch of stuff (give-a-ways and information). You'll need something that you can pull or push. The carts with a plastic box are great, but the ones with a back pack work well, too. Good walking shoes!!!!!! Don't go early and stay late, it will kill you. Food is expensive (drink and a burger $12 or $14). Some brought their own sandwiches and bought drinks. If you have any more questions...pm me with your telephone number and I'll call you and maybe give you more details. Have fun. Buddy
  5. Hank, stop and think. They took his money and entered him in the contest. He won! It is his prize. If you went to Mississippi or Texas and shot a match and won first place and there was a big prize, would it be yours? Krautwagen is annoyed about being cheated and rightfully so. Buddy
  6. Chuck Dave R., that use to shoot with us, had trouble with a Glock 34 and Clays. It was very accurate when when not tumbling. I shot his loads in my Kimber 9 mm and they were phenomenally accurate and no tumbling. Buddy
  7. Get a copy of the rules. If it is not in the written rules, then it doesn't exist. I would then talk to the candidate and tell him of the problem. After all, when you called him he could have told you that Joe Blow won and you would never know the difference. So if he wanted to cheat you...I don't think you would have ever known that you won. If he doesn't rectify the problem; go to plan "B". I'm with the other guy that said to get another candidate involved. Show that this guy is a cheat and I bet they would love to use that in a campaign. Good Luck, I hope you get your gun and don't have to get into politics. Buddy
  8. Last year a day or two before the Gator Classic, four or five of us were chronographing our loads. We put two chrno's back to back and were checking the numbers, using the lowest for a margin of safety. We even swapped the chrony's positions. One load I was shooting was a 175 PF and the other was a 176PF. I was happy with that and did not lower my load as some tried to tell me to do. At the Gator Classic I hit the chronograph at 170 PF using my 175 PF load. Sure glad I didn't change my powder charge. I really don't feel the difference in small changes in power factor, therefore, I would rather load to safely make the power factor. Buddy
  9. Karl@GT!!!!!!!!! The AC Shelby Cobra is my dream car. If I ever win the power ball.......I will have one. I have thought about building a kit car, but I am too impatient now days. I built a (Harley type M/C) Kenny Boyce FXR with a S&S engine and all the custom goodies in "99. Sixteen mons. and a bunch of help from friends made it happen. Not up to it today. I bet some fools are going to be after you when you hit the streets with that Cobra.
  10. G-manbart, I started loading in the 60's and have loaded on many different machines. You are 100% right, the SDB is a good buy (I use to have one), but I think that the 550 and 650 are much better machines for volume loading. Buddy
  11. I guess I missed the part where he asked about a SDB. I thought he asked about a 550 or a 650 and that is what I based my advice on. Heck, a single stage "C" press would really be cheap. With the amount saved by reloading rather than buying loaded ammo.....he will be off that tight budget and can afford to shoot more. Buddy
  12. I have a 550 and a 650 and there is no comparison. The 650 is a much better machine, to me, and I have had less trouble with it than the 550. Buy some lead bullets and shoot em up! Buddy
  13. David, you shouldn't have a problem with leading. I have shot a zillion of the precision molly bullets in 9/40/45. Never had a problem with leading or anything. I'll give you some lead bullets to try and see if you have trouble with them. My major forty load using lead doesn't lead my barrels. They do get real dirty, but they don't lead. If you are shooting Tangi this Sunday I'll bring you some. Buddy
  14. I live fifty to sixty miles away and will travel back and fourth from home. It will be a great match as usual, I'm sure. The prize tables are unbelievably full and everyone takes home a bunch of stuff. See you there. Buddy
  15. If I were you I would run a couple of empty cases through my sizing die and see if they fit the case gauge without sticking. If they fit OK, you will know that your problem is probably associated with the bullet. I'm thinking that you may have some Glocked brass. The nine is a high pressure round and often over looked as such. You may need a EGW U-Die or to adjust your die to go to it lowest position possible. Good Luck, Buddy
  16. I have run 200g FP Precision black bullets (5000) and find them soft shooting, too. After looking at videos of me shooting, I see that there is no difference in major 185 LFP @ 175 PF and the 200's at 172. Recoil looks the same on the video. I have almost "0" muzzle flip/rise. I bought 10k or so of Jim's 140's for steel and love them. I'm sure I could play with the loading on them and get a better steel load, but I like using my major powder (N-320) and not changing the settings. I just pop whatever bullet I need on the case and crank the handle. I also bought 20K of his 175 LSWC bullets, but haven't loaded any yet. I'll start chronographing them pretty soon.
  17. Justshootok I think you are talking about the $139.00 bullet feeder. It is a good product, but I suggest that you wait to make the purchase. If I were you, a new reloader, I would work on quality reloads rather than quantity. You really don't need anything to distract you while loading. And speed could get you in trouble, too. That machine will still be there when you're ready. Good Luck
  18. I've seen too many of the S_I guns in the steel matches to think they are unreliable. I know a police officer that shoots matches with the gun that he carries. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one and after break in...I would carry it. (I would have Howard Smith work over the mags) Buddy
  19. I am 62 years old and have good up close sight, but my distance perception is poor. I have an Edge that has a .110 fiber optic front sight and I took a chain saw file and cut the rear sight notch to .155 or there abouts. My fiber optic broke in a match and I continued to shoot and noticed that my grouping was much closer. I stayed that way for six months or better and my bullets seemed to hit much closer together. Shooting steel, I noticed that my first shot was slower than the F/O front sight shot. I put the F/O back on and have stayed with it. It seems to me that I look for the front sight more when it is plain black. I am more accurate with the plain black, but in our sport, pinpoint accuracy is not required too often. Buddy
  20. I have a Les Baer Stinger and it is a superb pistol, but if I could do it over again I would get the Commander size pistol. The short frame doesn't make any difference in concealment and shorts you on ammo. With a Commander frame you could use the eight round mags that you use with the other pistols you own. Buddy
  21. USPSA used the members money to buy the Steel Challenge, therefore, no extra membership or extra dues should be required. If it (Steel Challenge) is such a good deal, as we were told, it should be self supporting. Shouldn't it? Buddy
  22. I have a CZ 75 Tactical Sport and it came with a crisp and light trigger. The gun is a great gun in every way with the exception of the small thumb safety. It is small and very hard to manipulate. I thought if it loosened up a bit that it may be usable...but it isn't. CZ USA won't even answer your e-mails. How's that for service? Buddy
  23. I like the Laser Cast bullets, but a lead bullet is a lead bullet in my opinion. I'm just going to shoot them anyway and if they feed and hit close...that is all I need for this sport. If I am going to shoot for accuracy then I will look at some jacketed hollow points. Buddy
  24. You can buy Suspend SC off the Internet and it will get rid of your spiders. A quart of the stuff will last a very long time. I live on the river and have to use something to keep the pest away from my boat and boat house. Spray anywhere spiders and wasp nest and wait two weeks and spray again and presto. You are good for six months. No wasp, dirt dabbers, Carpenter Bumble Bees, or spiders. Kills ants, too. I HATE SPIDERS........particulaly Black Widows and Brown Recluse. Buddy
  25. DonT, you hit the nail on the head. In over thirty years of Law Enforcement, I have only run across a handful of dishonest LEO's. Most Officers are trying to do the job that you hired them for. Some few may take it to the next level and over react to a situation as some of you may do. My feelings...if you see a flame burning are you going to throw gasoline on it to see what will happen next? We are all only humans and each profession has a few people that screw off or are dishonest. ( Went to the Dentist the other day and was charged $10.00 for the Hygienist to tell me to brush twice each day and to floss + $14.00 for a tooth brush, tooth paste, and floss!) It is your job to use common sense and decide what to do for the situation at hand. How should you react? Should you resist any and all efforts of a LEO trying to investigate something? Are you the one that complains about the crime rate? Buddy P.S. I didn't notice the dental charges until I got home and I called back and was told that the charges were normal. I have sent a letter with a copy of the bill to my insurance company. They are going to take this office off of the approved Dentist list, according to someone that called.
