  1. I have shot revovler division, 4 matches a month, for the better part of the last two years. I have used a S&W 686 Plus with minor loads and a 625 with major loads. I emailed my AD this week in favor of maintaining the current rule of 6 shots between reloads. If the success of the division is measured by the number of shooters at the nationals, keeping the stand alone revolver nationals is the "gold nugget" to growing the division. Without a stand alone nationals even allowing 8 shot minor nothing will change over the long haul, might the first few years but then back to normal. How many of the folks that shot revo nationals this year would shoot them again in revo division if USPSA went back to Limited-Prod-Revo national format and allowed eight round minor? I will ask this, why is your 8 shot so much more fun then your 6 shot? Because our courses of fire are setup eight round neutral, that's why. I like the challenge of trying to break an eight round neutral stage down, I do not want to shoot six round neutral stages at a USPSA match. I hope the BoD decides to leave the revo rules as is and keep the stand alone revo nationals. Bob Ferguson - A70789
  2. I told you at the last Warsaw match I have an extra revolver you can use. Sorry just had to say it. I hope the get you fixed up fast.
  3. It is definitely skipping, I marked the cylinder notches to verify. I had a fellow revo shooter here in Indiana recommend that I check for the burr on the ramp side of cylinder notches, I will start there. Thanks for the info, I'll report back.
  4. I have a 625-8 & last year I had this issue where if I fired it slowly it worked fine however if I fired it fast it skipped chambers or overtraveled if you will. I refit the cylinder stop and replaced the cylinder stop spring while I was in there. It has worked great up until two or three days ago and now it's back to doing the same thing. Shoot slow all is good but tring to shoot real fast is starts skipping chambers or as I said earlier, overtravels. It skips the cylinder notch of the next chamber goes either half way or all the way to the following chamber's cylinder notch. I tried to refit the cylinder stop again, no change, replaced the cylinder stop and spring, no change. Any ideas? Thanks - Bob

Ryan, it was good to see you at ACC. From the results looks like you had a good day. See at Ft Wayne or Warsaw if you're free. Bob
  6. With what you have said I will assume you have a common rail ISB Cummins. I have seen this concern many times on this application. More often then not you'll find a bad injector solenoid causing the problem. On the common rail ISB if a solenoid craps out the ecm will shut that injector bank down to protect its self. Injectors 1-3 on a bank and injectors 4-6 on a bank. Ohm the injector solenoids under the valve cover, they are to be 1 ohm or less, usually .7 to .9 ohms is what you'll find on a good injector solenoid. As far as injectors go, I will only use Bosch, new or reman. I have worked on a lot of these trucks and have always had good luck with Bosch. If you do your part to protect them they will last. Good luck!Hope this info helps.
  7. Chris, Your last post made me think of something I was recently told while practicing bullseye. A good friend and accomplished bullseye shooter said to me "Stop tring to shoot a score, Shoot for performance and the score will be there." I think you hit the nail on the head, focus on whats important and the other stuff will happen. Have fun on the 8th. Bob
  8. 8) Drop turners: I did not shoot a drop turner in the whole match. I decided long ago that in limited capacity division drop turners are stupid. If it saves me time and a reload why do it? Everyone forgets that the math used to figure drop turners always counts on Alphas. It is easy to shoot charlies and deltas on these targets and that is seldom taken into account. On stage three I only used three mags because of blowing off the drop turners. Alex Gutt won the match and had a time of 19.41 on the stage. I was 20.01 but with few points. I finished 4th on the stage. There was a huddle of people discussing my plan among themselves and they just could not see leaving 20 points behind. I would say it worked out for me and for Jake as he did the same thing in SS. Putting a drop turner up so that there is enough to shoot while on that array is tough. Many times blowing them off is the thing to do in Production and single stack. (uncertain about the Amish world of revolver) In the Amish lead chucker world definately should have blown the D/T off in an 8rd COF, I learned this lesson the hard way on stage 8(my math sucks). On stage 3 it was a different story, I shot them, Brent did not. Brent shooting it 4.2 seconds faster did not over come the 24 points I had over him. The D/T were slow on stage 3 and was an easy 2 alpha on both. This has been your Amish update, brought to you via Coach's Shooting Log.
  9. Coach, Wish you a speedy recovery! Bob
  10. Thanks to the folks in Ohio for putting togethter a great match! Wish I would have shot my game but let my head get in the way, live and learn. Looking forward to the next one.
  11. Classifier for Warsaw's May match will be CM 06-03 Can You Count. That should put the round count just over 150. See you all on the range!
  12. Coach, Good luck at the SS Nationals! Bob
  13. Contact Dennis Reichard at Sand Burr Gun Ranch 574-223-3316 or www.sandburrgunranch.com. He is located in Rochester Indiana and does excellant work.
  14. Shadowrider, Thanks for the picture, looks a lot like the California Competition Works thumbpiece.
  15. I have not used or even seen an Ed Brown, would like to see a picture if anyone has one. I do NOT recommended using the Hogue Extended cylinder release. I had the short Hogue on my 625 and it would bind and/or stick all the time. Went back to stock, new style S&W thumbpiece.
  16. Hopefully this year I won't get sick and actually get to shoot! Looking forward to this match. Bob
  17. I have been shooting USPSA for about a year and a half and in the last month started shooting in the revolver division. My take is that the revolver division should be left as is and I voted that way. I feel that the use of an 8 shot revo and allowing 8 shots between reloads would be a great advantage even scored minor due to the 8 round neutral stages in USPSA. Don't get me wrong I see revo shooters beat folks from SS, Prod, Lim, Lim-10 but, I think if you took 2 revo shooters of the same skill level gave one an 8 shooter and one a 6 shooter I think the 8 shooter will always come out on top (because of the 8 rd neutral stages). It would be an interesting experiment any way. Considering you can shoot your 7 and 8 shooters in revolver now as it is (remebering to count to 6), I don't think it would have enough affect on participation to warrant changing the division.
  18. Appreciate the feedback. I know what I'm working towards, I'll keep practicing. I will try braking the reload down as suggested and work on that as well.
  19. Thanks for the advice. I've just been tring to gauge where I'm at. In practice I have been able to do smooth consistant reload at 2.6 seconds, shot to shot. I just wasn't sure if that was on par or not. Thanks again, reading post here has been a great help in my transition to revolver.
