  1. I am actually going to try the 686 this year. i will be using a 6 inch with the load that NorthernExtreme uses. 6.8 unique w/158 Berry bullet. I will also be trying some 38 super and cut down 38 specials. I like to be different, I never fell for the 625 bit every one raves about. I do own one though. I got my M card this year with a 610 6inch.
  2. I still have 7 pounds of SP 2, I have been loading it for m 38 super open Revo ( see my avatar ) it makes the comp work soooo well. I have not used it for the major 9 yet. What would be a good load? But to answer the original question, I would buy it all day long.
  3. Scott over at SDM did my 5" to 4" barrel job. Scott did top notch work. I sent him the barrel that I had spun off. That way you would not have to worry about FFL shipping or the cost of shipping the whole gun. Give him a call.
  4. I had pre ordered it from CED about 2 months ago.
  5. Got home about an hour ago. Hats off to all the staff, it was a GREAT match. Good long stages. Shooting a revo you really had to do some thinking. Thanks to all involved.
  6. It does have a volume control. 2 settings. I will give a report after I get to use it a little.
  7. it is quite load!!
  8. Got my new CED 7000 today in the mail. Man is this thing small. I have not tried it yet as I just got home from work. But I will give some of the features a try this week end at SummerBlast. If you are interested in seeing it, look me up. I am shooting on Sat morning.
  9. Gary, Dave P. and Paul D. have done this deed, give them a ring. I am sure they will talk you through it.
  10. They do but, you have to drill and tap the top strap. 6-48 tap
  11. pardon my ignorance, what does a 44 russian look like?
  12. Very nice Pete, I expect that I would be able to put a few rounds through it. RIGHT!!!! Good luck with it, I will see you soon,
  13. Eric, there is a 5" 629 on Gun broker. there are a few good pictures of the cylinder cut for moons.
  14. It is D&Ted. What is the height and width of you front sight and what is the width of the rear sight blade? Your front sight, on your website, seemed quite tall. I also liked the look of your Nill grips. I am going to see if anyone has them around here. I have an LPA on a 5" 610 with a .250" front SDM FO sight I aslo have one on a 6.5" 610 with a .300" SDM front FO sight The one thats on it way will go on a 5" 686 with a .250" SDM front FO sight
  15. Not if it is a newer model. They are already drilled and taped for scope mounts. If your not sure, open the cylinder, look under the top strap and you will see if it is D&Ted.
  16. I have 2 of these now, the third is on its way. I like these much better than the Millit sights.
  17. I guess I can see where you comming from. Especially with the IDPA statement. "One question to you John. Does Dave carry your bag now??????" laugh.gif I'm trying, but he just won't do it!! Sounds close Mike, but rule 17 was brought up in my discussion with John A, remove "except prototypes" in section 17 and maybe even the "OFM" part ?? OK, everybody hold on now. The idea is to remove silly potential restrictions that don't matter and will only serve to turn away potential shooters, and leave the potential for controversy down the line. Dave and I almost had that figured out, but now we've got 14 different versions floating around. So how's this: US APPENDIX D10 US Revolver Standard Division 1 Minimum power factor for Major 165 2 Minimum power factor for Minor 125 3 Minimum bullet weight No 4 Minimum bullet caliber / cartridge case length 9mm (0.354”) / 19mm (0.748”) 5 Minimum bullet caliber for Major No 6 Minimum trigger pull (see Appendix F2) No 7 Maximum handgun size No 8 Maximum magazine length Not applicable 9 Maximum ammunition capacity No, Maximum of 6 fired before reload. 10 Max. distance of handgun and speed loaders from torso 50mm 11 Rule 5.2.3.1 applies Yes 12 Restriction on position of holster and other equipment No 13 Optical/electronic sights permitted No 14 Compensators permitted No 15 Ports permitted No Special conditions: 16. No limit on cylinder capacity, however, a maximum of 6 rounds to be fired before reloading. A competitor who fails to comply with any of the requirements above will be subject to Rule 6.2.5.1 (Rule 6.2.5.1: However, if a competitor fails to satisfy the equipment or other requirements of a declared Division during a course of fire, the competitor will be placed in Open Division, if available, otherwise the competitor will shoot the match for no score. 17. Any complete revolver (or a revolver assembled from components) available to the general public is permitted. 18.--19. [DELETED] 20. “Self-loading” revolvers with retractable slides are prohibited in this Division. THERE!! DONE!! Now go vote YES or NO on my other thread. That looks to be about right. But, Is it safe not to mention barrels at all? Just asking.
  18. Gary, why shoot anything other than what you have been? Even with possible rule changes at hand, shooting a revo wont change. These sudgested rules don't mean squat. They may be placed to clear things up so people like my self don't do anything wrong. Before I made any kind of mod to my barrel I read the rules, and the way I read them said I was good to go. OK, I was wrong. But this will CLEAR things up. This is all IMHO everyone wants to achive. Do you really think the holes I put in my barrel made any kind of differance? I personally dont think they did IMO. Hey, for that matter, I even beat Dave P. with a 5" 610. HI DAVE! The differance is, some shooters have replaced barrels on a 625 with a 6" or 6.5" 25 barrel. Why did they do it? To gain a personal advantage. IE: longer sight radius, lighter barrel, maybe. Being one of the minorities shooting a 610, dont have the luxery of that kind of barrel swap. All I would like is to have the same KIND of advantage a 625 has. Without changing guns. I think having a rule change or rule rewording is due to cover items like this.
  19. Is it me or does 19.2 conridict it self. why are we making this harder than what it is. A revolver is a revolver, no matter what we do to it. As of right now there is no 500 rule, so why put it in? if the rules say replacment barrels, ok, why complicate it with profiles and lightening. just leave it with OK for replacement barrels. I thought the goal hear was to open the revo div to just about any revo. (LIMITED REVO) PPC guns, custom barreled guns, mooned guns, ect: I know if some one showed up at a match with his PPC heavy barreled gun, I would encourage him to shoot, not frown apon it. I know he has to work a little harder pushing that tank around a stage. But if thats what he chooses, so be it.
  20. I'd be worried about that 500 number also. How many 5 inch 610's were built ?? I've heard as low as 300 and as high as 4000 ?? I think the 4 inch version was below 400 also. And Sorry Gary but I have to agree with Barretone, we may see some funky guns in revo IF the rule changes take place but IMO we are not hurting the division, if anything we are making it what most here assumed it was in the first place. My 2 cents, that's all. Currently there is no 500 limit on revolver
  21. IMHO, revoler is an ability race, not an equipment race.
  22. I am not going to speak for others but, NO, if thats what a guy or gal want to shoot, be my guest. I hate to keep repeating, The thing with revolver is the six rounds reload shoot, do it again concept. So, other than the obviouse no comps, no dots, its pretty easy. Shoot what you brought. I dont think there is any thing you could do to a revolver that would change the way a stage is shot with the six round limit, or change a shooters ability to shoot said stage.
