  1. The only thing easier than Lewis class system is no class system
  2. Serious question, what do those guys do that infinity can't/won't? Baer is the only one I have seen that will guarantee accuracy, all else really seems fluff to me and I like infinity's fluff the best lol
  3. I think the only way to correct it would be to use some sort of Lewis class system. Which would tell you what class you were on at that particular match. That's the easiest way to do it, but it doesn't really give somebody a b or c card. Basically the guy who finishes closest to 50% without going over gets the "win" then the guy at 75%, etc
  4. That's a term for somebody who reshoots a classifier until they can get classified in a higher class than they really are. It doesn't happen as much now as it probably used to since they don't allow multiple it doesn't happen as much now as it probably used to since they don't allow multiple reshoots on classifiers like they used to. People use paper GMS as a way to show the classifier system is completely broken. But it turns out, even paper GMS are still pretty good. And, in reality the only person they are hurting are themselves if they try to classify higher than their actual skill level. So in other words, it's not really the issue that some people try to make it out to be
  5. This will lead to a lot of paper GMS, which is one of the things people gripe about right now
  6. How is infinity not mentioned yet?
  7. Put me in the double plug camp, and I don't even own a real open gun
  8. Tight group will tend to smoke a little more, however other than that there are no real ill effects. 45 is a pretty affable caliber to load, so I would use whatever powder you had that you weren't going to put in something else, because it'll probably work pretty good in 45
  9. This is kind of my point at the beginning of this thread, a whole Nationals with stages designed around Ironsight guns couldn't fill up. I watched a video from single stack Nationals a few years back and there were 350 competitors for that division alone, and this year there were not 350 competitors for all Ironsight divisions combined at a Nationals specifically for them In other words I'm not sure setting up a match for only Iron sight guns is going to get any traction. I'm also not saying changing up the divisions is going to get any traction either
  10. I guess I should have clarified that minor would still need to be .355. Damn gamers LOL
  11. I know him, not real well but I shot with him several times over the years. He runs good matches and is good guy and I think he will be a solid area director. I know he didn't love what Mel was doing I'm pretty sure he has a profile on here You might check out Facebook and look at a page called: "USPSA area 4 but not the official page" or something like that
  12. It's either people trying to get the most capacity out of their gun, or modifying a slide stop so that it doesn't work, or both. A lot of guys don't want their slide stop to work because reloading extended magazines into guns with a slide lock back tends to screw up ejectors
  13. How does that get people to shoot more irons?
  14. I would love it if they would do that. It would actually kind of hearken back to the early days of USPSA. I would like to see a weight limit of about 45 Oz, a fit in the box rule, maybe the single stack box would be good the way it is now, and eight major 10 minor scoring. I mentioned the single stack box, but I'm not saying you would have to run a single stack gun, it would just have to fit in the box and maybe the box size would need a little tweaking. I would want glocks, 2011s, Berettas, etc to fit, but you might have to make some concessions on your wide safeties and or mag wells. Make it irons and no compensators, and and that is all. Any other thing you want to do to the gun would be legal The one exception would be revolvers, and if you were shooting a revolver there would be no rules other than eight major 10 minor scoring. In other words you could have a full open revolver with a red dot and weights hung all over it that didn't come close to fit in the box and that would be fine because, you're shooting a revolver LOL I know it will never happen, but that's what I would like to see. Still would only have about two people shooting it though
  15. Use a Lee die for your resizing. If the base bulges much after that, the brass is probably shot out of a major open gun and is just junk.
  16. The link I posted shows 10 round magazines from Magpul right on their website for 15 bucks a piece for a Glock 17
  17. I agree most members don't shoot majors, but even at locals the classification system still holds up. The local GM generally beats the local master who beats the A-Class who beats the B class, etc. The only time that changes is when you have somebody who really starts practicing moves up quick and happens to be an old Master class shooter who can't keep up anymore. But overall it still works. I knew it worked that way at my local club, I checked some majors and it still worked that way, I even went so far as to check local matches I've never been to or seen anybody at and sure enough the results tend to fall in order gm, m, a, B, etc So if people keep finishing matches where they're supposed to how badly broke can the system be? I'm going to go with it's not too bad. But as I've said many times in this thread if something is really wonky getting it corrected should be done. But somebody being mad because they can't make a class because they didn't practice hard enough is not a good reason to change the system. Just like if somebody shoots into a class but can't complete against upper people in that same class, that's not a good enough reason to change the system. They just need to practice more
  18. The problem with your "survivor bias" theory is you're wanting to adjust classification based on people who don't stay in the sport. Clubs pick small classifiers because they're easier to set up and less of a headache. Having a classifier that requires several positions that are not boxes and has several walls to set up is never going to be effective because it's never going to be set up consistently from club to club And you still tend to miss the point of when you go to a major the results end up falling in the way you would expect which means the classification system isn't very far off. I know you're going to think survivor bias, but the people sitting at home on the couch really don't matter and adjusting any thing we do based on trying to get them involved in the sport is a fool's errand. I know this because of how many people I've tried to get to shoot over the years and how few actually do. Many new guys show up to one match or two and quit because it's not their thing, not because of the classification system screwed them
  19. https://magpul.com/pmag-10-gl9-glock-g17.html I bet these would work
  20. Very possible, I have never tried that. I have mailed long guns to individuals in state more than once. I even had to school the post office on it
  21. You can also mail long guns through the USPS. Doesn't apply in the op's situation, but as long as they don't cross state lines you can mail long guns person to person through the Post office
  22. Of course that should be fixed, throughout this thread several times I've said things could be improved. But, overall it still works pretty good the way it is. Everything can always use some improvement, but people Pearl clutching and acting like the classification system is completely horrible are overreacting. If we just look at the overall arching system the way it is now, having a six classifier average, that even your high ones can roll off, kind of takes out the anomalies But sure, improvements could be made and that would not hurt anything. I kind of wonder what the op of this threads goal is, it seems like maybe to stir some poop to me, or maybe push his website? New guy makes three or four posts and they're all about classification and classifiers and his charts......
