  1. When I first started with one I thought red was the way to go. Someone told me green was better but I stuck with red. Then I switched for giggles one day and could and pick up the green much faster. Green definitely was the way for me. It almost glows at you.
  2. Check with your local EMS training officer. We have our local ems instructors come and teach all of our deputies a combat first aid course. Kind of a self or buddy aid thing until help can arrive. The ems folks love the it and so do our deputies.
  3. Ok. So here goes my two cents. I have been an LEO for 13 years and have served as the Department Firearms instructor, range master, and SWAT team commander. I am an IDPA two gun master and recently started USPSA. I have enjoyed my competitive shooting immensely. It has improved my shooting skills 10 fold. I have tried over and over with very little success to get other officers involved. I am a firm believer that it would greatly benefit the officers as well as the public we serve. I have incorporated lessons learned in competition into our training program. Overall I have probably carried 20 officers out of our just over 100 sworn to a competition. They never return. I believe that it is out of embarassment/fear of losing. They get beat by people who don't carry a gun for a living, feel bad, and don't return. My first experience was similar but I decided that If I was going to carry a gun for a living, I was going to be better than most with it. I wish it were different and don't know the answer. Some have the potential to be very sucessful but the desire is just not there. Go figure.
  4. Registration form mailed today. This will be my first USPSA major match and I am excited. Pratice, Practice, Practice
  5. Your strong hand should be as high on the gun as it can be, functionally speaking. Your weak hand fingers wrap around the fingers of your strong hand that are on the grip. The meaty part of your weak hand will then rest on the weakhand side of the grip. Both thumbs point forward with your strong hand thumb on top. Your weak hand should be rolled forward creating an angle. That angle is the key. It is rolled forward almost like a rams head. That angle will create a strong grip that will help you control recoil. That's about the best I can describe it without a photo. Goggle Bob Vogel or Dave Sevigny and check out a photo of them. It will be obviously what I am describing when you see it.
  6. +1 Any 1911 style will fall into ESP as it is single action and not allowed in SSP.
  7. I think the video took care of that question very well. Thanks for sharing that.

    Magwell Help

Thanks guys, looks like I will be spending some money soon.
  9. I always had trouble getting glock mags apart until I went armorer school and someone showed me how to do it the right way. Once I saw it done I said, well don't I feel stupid. Just find someone who knows how to do it. and its a piece of cake. As far as cleaning them at the range, never had a need.

    Magwell Help

I am looking for a magwell for my glock 35 for the Limited Division. I am considering this one. Dawson Heavy Ice. http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=64B0001-1140131611 However reading the Limited appendix it says external modifications or features such as devices to control recoil or add weight are prohibited. I am confused because I though magwells were legal in limited but this say they are not. Can anyone set me straight.
  11. Federal have always worked the best for me in glock 35. Had a bunch of light strikes with winchester.
  12. Thanks for posting the video of the movement. New to uspsa from idpa movement is much more important. I am realizing that I need to work on getting from a to b more efficiently.
  13. +1 for the jp magwell. fits in the box, easy on and off for swapping divisions.
  14. Keep it. I love mine and like prreed10 said, you can shoot just about whatever you want with it.
  15. Not sure how to make the classifers retroactive if that is possible. The club where the match was held sends in the info so you could see if they could resend and include your classifier. However you can go to the main uspsa website and put in your hit factor on the classifier that you shot and it will give you a percentage.
  16. New to USPSA from IDPA and have shot a few matches in production. Curious as to what suggested mods any has for a Glock 35.
  17. I like the sevigny's, but most of the others mentioned would also be better than stock. The thin front sight with a fiber optic and plain black rear is the biggest advantage. Front sight will really jump out at you and then thinner front sight helps when precision shots are needed.
  18. Thanks guys. appreciate the advice.
  19. Shot my first USPSA match this weekend and am looking for a little advice. Currently I am a two gun IDPA master and have grown a little bored with it after a couple of years. I really enjoyed the USPSA match and believe that I am going to move in that direction. I shot production this weekend and have some strategy questions. To state the obvious the objective is to shoot as fast as accurately possible. However in IDPA the scoring system allows you to very easily see how speed and accuracy or lack thereof effects your score. With USPSA the score is not as easily interpreted so I am struggling with trying to figure out whether I need to/ can afford to speed up or should I slow down to sharpen up my accuracy. I guess what I am looking for is some kind of rule of thumb to use a measure. Can anyone shed any light on how the scoring stacks up which might help my overall score. Thanks in advance.
  20. Thanks guys. I appreciate the info. Are classifier stages ever included in major matches and do those count towards classification?
  21. Hey Everybody, I am considering joining USPSA and shooting some major matches. I have been shooting IDPA and am currently a two gun master. My question deals with classification. I understand that I need to shoot atleast 4 classifiers to get classified however the local clubs in my area are not close enough for my taste to make them on a regular basis. I would prefer to just hit several major matches. Do I need to be classified to shoot a major match. While looking at some major match scores I see some people ranked as "U". Am I assuming correctly that this stands for unknown. If this is the case, how would I be classified for the purpose of match scoring. Thanks in advance for any help.
  22. Thanks guys, 550 is here and setup. I banged out about 200 of those rounds today. After some trial and error setting up, it went great. Spoiled already. The only issue that I am having so far is occasionally the indexing sprocket seems to hang up and becomes difficult to turn. A couple of shells later, right back to normal. Have I done something wrong to cause this or is there some other explanation. Thanks Matt Shaw
  23. Thanks. I appreciate the advice. I plan on waiting. I just hated to think I had a new machine on the way and was going to have to go back to the single stage.
  24. Hey Everyone, New member here from Lancaster, SC. Matt Shaw's the name. I been been looking for a while but just opened up an account. I enjoy all shooting sports.
