  1. A lot of this is determined by the type gun and caliber. What caliber? what kind of ejector factory or after market, extended. You only want to bevel the very bottom of the extractor so the brass does not hang on a sharp edge. The ejector is what will change the case direction. You probably need to get with someone locally that has some knowledge on the subject to help shape the ejector.
  2. A few things can cause that situation and it can cause problems if the main spring gets weak. If it is off center enough you can get miss fires. Extractor can push the case a very small amount but if the chamber is tight then the extractor is not the problem. More than likely it is the lock up of the slide barrel and lugs. The firing pin should be very close to center if the barrel has been fit correctly.
  3. I used a safariland 012 for a long time but change to limcat. A while back tried to use my safariland and could not. It was to slow and to much drag. If any one wants a safariland 012 carbon fiber look $90 and it is yours shipped. What is a gugas, I have never heard nor seen one where can you go to get a look at one.
  4. I would not recommend cutting a barrel to match. I tried it and in a state match the logs broke off and ended the match. Functioned fine but only lasted a few matches before it let go.
  5. Have ya got a link to the web site I need some boolits bad.
  6. I dont feel so bad now. My chrono died a few months ago to a 38s 1400 FPS. I thought I was one the lonley few to kill a chrono. The steel plate sounds like a good idea.
  7. If you are new to open it may distract you for a little while. Some people do not see it at all. Some people it distracts. Some guns flame some dont. Depends on the gun and how it is setup.
  8. I stopped using 3n38 because of the flash. It distracted me way to much. If you shoot 3n38 with a tarp to catch the brass you will see why it flashes. You would be suprised at how much powder is not burned. It does not matter how you crimp, load length it just does not burn all of the powder. It builds up in the comp and boom boom bang flash. My gun was new so it was not a shot out barrel.
  9. I have not looked on the forum to see if this topic has been posted before but what I was wondering does anyone uses the sites that have the fiber optics in the rear site as well as the front. I am blind and sights are very hard to see and thought maybe this would help. I think tru glo sells them not sure about that.
  10. I have been using skoal for years and quit 3 weeks ago. I just made my mind up to do it. The cost was starting to get into my shooting money. The hardest thing I have ever tried to do. Using shredded coconut sounds like a good idea i think I will try it cause I am eating everything in the house. That is my biggest problem all the eating and the weight gain. If any one has a suggestion for the weight gain let me know.
  11. There are several things that can cause this problem. The easiest to try is sear spring. If that does not work a heavier main spring and adjust your sear spring after you install the main spring. And if it is bad enough the sear or hammer will have to have the hooks reshaped or just replace them both. I have tried all and each gun is different setup. I can run 18# main spring and with a 1# trigger pull all day long when everything is setup right. I used my gun six months with a 14 ounce trigger pull and no failures. I just had to many trigger freezes; trigger not keeping up with me.
  12. I would think it would be OK. I shoot both eyes open most of the time but if you are shooting around a baracade left handed hey use the left eye. Most of your practice should be with both eyes for a greater field of view.
  13. Do not over look the main spring. I had to go to an 18# for rifle primers. If the trigger job is done corectly you can still get a good trigger pull and solve any problems with light strikes even with a some what high primer. My trigger pull is 1.3# right now; never have a light strike.
  14. I was using 180 gr bullet with 4.7 320. I was thinking of tring lighter bullets I guess I am just going to have to buy a bunch of different components and put a lot of rounds down range to find what works for me. I have been shooting open class since I started competition 7 years ago. Never shot limited except to borrow a gun to classify or shoot a limited only match.
  15. Thanks for the replys. The gun is smooth it just seems to dive below zero really bad. I took the recoil master out and tried a 14# and different guide rod still seem to dive. I do not have any lighter springs I will have to make a run to the gun sto. Maybe there is just to much muzzle weight. Long dust cover and bull barrel.
  16. What size recoil spring would everyone suggest for an edge pistol. New to limited and the one in the gun really feels heavy.
  17. I have been shooting open for years and pretty much never shot limited. I now have a 40 edge pistol so I am looking for load info mostly. Which weight bullet: so On so forth. I was thinking 155 gr. would be quick slide and quicker back on target. Just need some help before I go buy a bunch of bullets and powder. 1 Other question. WHat recoil spring weight does everyone use. It has a 15 Lb spring in it right now and that really feels heavy. Thanks for the info.
  18. I have an open gun with the wide dust cover cut back. It always felt to front heavy. So I had the slide lightned some. Then the muzzle rise increased so I put ports in the barrel after that it started diving; to much comp work. Went with the brian ti comp. Now it shoots good and flat but sometime's I wonder if I should not have just left it alone. I dont think it matters till one gets to A class or better before it makes a difference. Lighter, ported, shorty's are all for faster shooting. If you want to go faster get another gun in one the before mentioned designs. Good shooting
