  1. Chris Back in 2008 Bruce Piatt shot a 1918-152 in the Open/Metallic aggregate at the "Cup", to my knowledge that has not been topped to this date. GrantJ
  2. In my opinion the best bullets out there right now are made by Zero. Their new conical JHP's in 115 or 125 grains are as good, if not better, that the XTP or HAP's. They are extremely accurate and are used by many of the top Action Pistol shooters. GrantJ
  3. Sorry for the slow notification - Daily results for this years Cup will be posted on www.gvshoot.com, enjoy. Grant J
  4. :) :)Dave The 210 is probably about one of the best 9's out there and it's heritage can be seen in those that have tried to emulate it's reliability and accuracy like the CZ75, Tanfoglio and numerous others. True, they are expensive so to the parts and unless you are familiar with the platform, can be challenging. In all honesty, if you are looking for a reliable, accurate, and affordable gun that will work for AP, I would look at the Tanfoglio Elite Limited. Out of the box it shoots great and is a platform that can be built on should you decide to head to the dark side and go Open... Just a thought GrantJ
  5. All Attached is the 2015 MidWay USA & NRA Bianchi Cup Program Guide. This is also posted on www.gvshoot.com We will also be posting match dates and entry forms for the 2015 season on that site as well, as they become available. GrantJ 2015WebBianchiProgramGuide.pdf
  6. Thanks Chris It was up last night but not easy to find, had that fixed today so for the rest of the event we should be good to go. GrantJ
  7. Russell Richard is correct; yours will likely be an old style. The large frame has only been around for a few years. Seems they like the idea of having a one frame suits all kind of deal that will handle anything. Time will tell on that but Helens works just fine. There is a quick check you can do, look at the top of the ejector port, if you can see part of the locking lug area on the barrel in the port it is a large frame, if not it is the small. As for the 115’s I prefer them to the 125’s. They seem more comfortable to shoot all around and are very accurate; some use a lighter bullet than that. GrantJ
  8. Kevin - I know I was just having some fun… That said a buddy of mine bought an Ed Brown 1911 off Ray Chapman back in 1989. As I understand it a Doctor had it built specifically for the Bianchi Cup, it was in 9mm. He used it for one season then got out of the game for whatever reason. It was a real tack driver and really reliable. Russell - yes that is what we get out of our Tanfoglio’s. The interesting thing though is that mine is the old style (small frame) and Helen’s is the new large frame. On hers the frame was made bigger to accommodate lager calibers up to and including, 45ACP, making it the 1911 problem in reverse. The magazines she uses have a spacer in the rear keeping the bullet to the front of the mag, it works really well. Accuracy out of hers is not quite as good as mine but still acceptable. We are hoping to re-barrel it over the winter, Briley are making a new batch that should be available here in a little bit. They are really accurate, much more so than the 6” polygonal factory barrel she has right now. As for powder, yes I really like VV N330 and if supply was reliable we would still be using it. It is a tad slower than WW231 but is really soft shooting. As far as accuracy goes, we were getting really good groups at 50 with the old Zero 115 JHP, with the new conical design I can only imagine what the results would be like, mind numbing comes to mind. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving. GrantJ
  9. 9mm is as accurate as anything out there, and as for reliability I see no difference between it and 9x23. It all comes down to tuning; if the gun is set up right reliability is not an issue. It is also very forgiving to load, I have tried a multitude of powders and most work well and will group under two inches at 50. Finding that magic load that pulls into one inch and has little recoil is a little more time consuming. We currently run around 4.1 of Tightgroup, Starline brass WW primer, behind a Conical Zero 115 JHP. We are aiming for a power factor between 125 and 130. Our guns function flawlessly and the recoil is low. This load will post groups of around 1.25 to 1.5 inches at 50. GrantJ

  12. This is primarily a team match. Governing bodies will select the teams that will represent their countries. That said the individual side of the championship is open to all as I understand it. It is going to be a busy time for the Action Pistol community, I have often heard competitors say that they would like to shoot more AP while they are hear, in 2014 they will get their wish, let’s hope it brings in record numbers. This is what we have so far: April 19 – Green Valley Club Match – Columbia Missouri, Confirmed April 26 – Crawfish Cup Regional – Lake Charles Louisiana, Confirmed May 4 – Pioneer Club Match – Bates City Missouri, to be confirmed May ?? – Michigan Regional – Dates not available yet May 10 – Flagler Cup Registered Match – Bates City Missouri, to be confirmed May 16-17 – World Shoot – Rockcastle Shooting Center, Park City Kentucky, Confirmed May 21-24 – NRA Bianchi Cup – Columbia Missouri, Confirmed Time to start loading, this is going to be great!  Later GrantJ

  14. High all Cameron Cup was a great success, the weather held for us and everyone seemed to have a good time. Congratulations to Kevin – again – for “First Overall” and to Terry for winning High Marksman and the “Cameron Cup” that goes with that achievement. We would like to thank our sponsors, D Sport, Zero, Starline, Sierra, What-Ya-Say, Protocall Design, Powder Horn, NRA, Green Valley Rifle & Pistol Club and others who contributed to the prize table. Thanks also to our volunteers, without whom the match would not have been such a success. Final results are now posted on the Green Valley web site under Action Pistol. www.gvshoot.com GrantJ
  15. High all Looking forward to seeing everyone again this year, the range is looking great. GrantJ
  16. Still waiting for the official scores to be posted. Do know that it was Jessie by 1 over Helen. It came down to mover; Helen shot a personal best of 1899. Sooo close. Still Helens team mate was Vera who from what I understand came in third, that means USA B beat USA A in the ladies division. Pretty damn special…. Just saying. GrantJ
  17. All Once again we will be posting daily preliminary results for the MidwayUSA & NRA Bianchi Cup on the Green Valley web site at gvshoot.com GrantJ
  18. Guys….. Be nice I seem to recall from way back then that I did OK and the results bulletins seem to back that up. It is nice though to see that with some ingenuity and graft, building and accurate and reliable AP gun can be done on the cheap. That said, I will not divulge publically what mine or HelenJ’s blasters have cost in design and build over the years (worlds most expensive, possibly), what about you Richard, think the lady of the house would be interested? Nine weeks to go until Bianchi, looking forward to seeing you all 9MM RULES! GrantJ
  19. All I seem to recall we tried to get this organized a few years back but there were no takers. Better late than never, here is the link to the Green Valley Rifle and Pistol Club – Home of the Bianchi Cup. Green Valley Web Site Check out the calendar we host monthly Action Pistol Matches, the Third Saturday of each month starting in March. May and June are covered by the Bianchi Cup and the Cameron Cup and we are back to the schedule July through November. Club matches are not registered we like to keep them low key to let new shooters get used to the program. Entry to these is $20; you sign up on arrival at the range. Shooting starts around 9am Looking forward to seeing you at the range GrantJ
  20. All The Cameron Cup will be on again this year, June 16. This will be a Registered Regional, NRA will be supplying the usual Medallions and Discount Certificates and there will also be a random draw prize table. Entry fee will be $50 the Entry form and program will be available on the Green Valley Web Site in the not too distant future. Later GrantJ
  21. Chris I have used 9 forever and have always found it to be fairly forgiving. That said I have little experience with the 1911 platform, just enough to be dangerous. We use Starline Brass Winchester Primers around 4.1gr of Tightgroup pushing one of the New Zero 115's loaded on a Dillon 1050 to an OAL of around 1.125". We use enough crimp to leave a noticeable ring on the bullet when pulled and get groups on a good day around 1.25" at 50 off the ground no sand bag. Remember the 9 headspaces off the mouth of the case not the rim, that said I doubt that will be the cause of your issues. Warren has a 9mm chamber reamer and also a set of go/no go gauges, they will tell you right away if you are in the ball park. If you are confident that the barrel fit is OK, I would check the crown, an often forgotten part of the puzzle that can cause all sorts of strange things. Remember this is the last part of the barrel the bullet sees on its way out, if not right you will never get a good group out of it. There may be nothing more that a small bur in one of the groves or the angle may be off just a hair, it is certainly worth a look and again Warren could get that sorted in a few minutes. Hope this helps some. GrantJ
  22. If someone smarter than me wants to convert www.gvshoot.com into a link that would be really cool. GrantJ
  23. All The MidwayUSA & NRA Bianchi Cup Results will again be posted on the Green Valley Rifle and Pistol Club web site at [url="http://gvshoot.com" The first set will be available some time in the evening of Wednesday May 25, read and enjoy. GrantJ
  24. OK, cat among the pigeons time. If you are looking for an out of the box competition pistol that is a tack driver for less that your $1500, then take a look at this. The Tanfoglio Limited for metallic is value for money and you don’t have to do anything to it. Helen and I use them in Open to great success, me 12th over all in 2001 at the Bianchi and Helen the ladies World Championship in 2008….. I’m just saying. Worth a serious look! GrantJ PS. 1911’s will never catch on…..Ha! WitnessLimited.pdf
  25. Hi all Work is progressing on both ranges, there will be noticeable improvements for 2011. We have a Board meeting December 14, I will post more details after that. GrantJ
