MAN OH MAN! When I get mine in April its up in the air as to a new 24 or a 34. I could put my Limited 35 lower end on the 24 and then have the 35 for production! Or do I get the 34 and just shoot it stock with sights in production.

I built my own with a Jager kit and it worked out ok. Bobby's guns are good, especially for the price. I have even thought about getting another one and buying his minor gun for steel. Going with a 2011 style gun is your best bet. I just dont see you finding much used for that kind of money. Not sure who told you that Glocks are horrible with comps but that in my opinion is false. Mine was good with the major load I shot. I will say though that with the time and technology they have in the comps for 2011's they are ahead. Get what you want though! Its your money. Personally though I think when the time comes and I do go Open again I will probably just get an STI.

Stick with the Spartan! I picked mine up for 630 which included shipping to the Police Chief. I did springs, VZ grips, Dawson front sight, and a S&A mainspring housing/magwell. All in all I have maybe 900 in it and it is a fine shooting pistol. I would suggest some good mags, either Wilson or Tripp for it so by the time you have all this you will be right at what a Trojan will cost ya. Also later if you decide to do something else I will bet you can sell it quick to recoup some money towards your new hot rod!

My first open gun was Para 14-45 I had a smith build for me years ago. It was pretty good for the time! About a year ago I gave the Glock a try in Open. Now I had a pretty good trigger in it from Vanek. It was fun to shoot but it still was a Glock. Dont get me wrong because I love Glocks. I have since sold it because I dont plan shooting Open at all this year. I am going to stick with Limited along with some production and single stack. If I decide to go back to Open I will go with a 2011 this time though, those guns of Bobby Carvers look really pretty though.

Not sure if this helps but I had a STS on my Open Glock. Started out as a slide ride set up which worked fine. At times it was hard to find the dot. Once I used it for a while I learned how to though. I eventually changed it over to a frame mount but never got the chance to make a true comparison since I sold the gun.

I have got to say that the frame to slide fit on my Spartan is tight. My last 1911 was a Colt Gold Cup and it was honestly loose. I dont think that it was much of a problem though because it shot pretty darn good with my reloads. Only time it gave fits was when I tried using shok buffs which I then tossed in trash.

I would pull that shok buff, walk out say 15 yards and place it on a wooden post. Then step back, load your Spartan and try shooting that sucker. You can practice your grouping and get rid of shok buff at same time. I just never had luck with them on a factory 1911. I tried them in a Colt M1991 and a Gold Cup Trophy. After a short time I would get all kinds of feed or ejection problems. To each his own though.

Alright if we are changing springs that often, when should you give it a good clean up. I personally just run a bore snake down the barrel of mine after every practice or match. As far a cleaning I only do that if it has to come apart for something else.

Meat the 20SF I had was very nice to shoot. Loved the frame alot on that one!

Jeff is doing a really good job with his triggers, specially with the price. I have an Edge in my Limited 35 and it is just as good as a certain expensive trigger I had in my Open 17. Also his customer service is pretty Rad as well.

I only considered trying one on my Open 17 with major 9 loads. I never got around to it though and gave the buffer to a friend. He put it in his 19 but honestly he hasnt shot it enough to give anykind of info. Personally I wouldnt put it in my production or limited gun. Your just going to make it more complex.

Alright I am simple, I didnt know there was a such animal as a LPA cut when talking sight cuts.

Everybody thank you for your different opinions. They all sound good! I currently have a 19lb mainspring in it. I also changed the recoil spring to a 15lb and the firing pin spring to the one that came with the recoil spring from Wolff. So far I have done the springs, changed the MS housing to a S&A with internal magwell, VZ Op2 grips, Dawson front sight and cleaned/polished somethings inside. I want to try one of the flat triggers in it. I figured if I was doing this I would get a trigger job. I think I will go with the Weigand method and see where that gets me. Again thanks!

Man no one responded to this? Anyway, I dont shoot what you have but you might want to check places like Red airsoft and such. I have a WE 2011 and a TM Glock 17. I went to the online stores and just replaced parts like upgraded pistons and cylinders, trigger springs, ect. Thing that wear or the factory design was piss poor anyway.

I have the Operator II on my Spartan and love them. I too thought they would tear my hands up but they dont. Honestly the grip tape I have on the front strap tears my hands up worse than the grips do. Very good product.

Guys, thanks for your input. I might just go with the trigger/bow I want and see if I can just get mine polished up.

Guys I am think about getting some work done to the trigger on my Spartan. What it has now is ok but want something a bit lighter. I also want to try a straight trigger as well. Has anyone purchased a kit from say EGW or Cylinder&Slide? I seen some drop in kits from them and was curious. Do you think it would just be better to have a smith do it? I dont want super light, maybe just something in the three pound range. My main pistol is a G35 which has an Edge setup from Glocktriggers. It is a very good trigger and now it makes my Spartan trigger feel super heavy. I just want to see what everyones opinion is.

Man good luck finding a small pistol with a descent trigger. I just bought one for my wife too. I ended up going with a S&W Bodyguard 380 mainly because the price was right. Very small, neat lazer thingy, and she isnt scared of it. The trigger in this thing is LONG and heavy. Being its purpose though I wouldnt touch the trigger. Its so funny when you pull the trigger on it. Pull, pull, pull, pull, oh there is the break. I have tried to set there and pull it with out moving it the least bit and I cant do it.

Man I am sorry to hear that. That is something I have worried about myself. Well we have a bunch of good people on here so if they do appear and someone sees them I am sure they will say something!

Any reason why the Jager comps don't have side ports? Does that matter? Not sure, might want to ask Billy. They are a vendor on here.

I am with Micah on this. I have a Jager and with major loads which it was intended it is very good for the price.

I bought a sight drifting tool from Brownells over a year ago. It has been a great tool for removing and installing rear sights on a couple pistols besides Glocks. You can get yourself an aluminum drift to knock out the old one and install the new one. When installing put a piece of masking tape over the end of the punch. What little marks it leaves on your new rear sight will come off with a blue sharpie. Not hard at all to do my friend.
