  1. Just a follow up question, Did you adjust the sizing die, like screwing the die down further to increase the next tension? I curious my self because Im having some issues as well with my Frontier bullets and most of the 55gainers , not with the 75 gr. . thanks
  2. Thanks, just a little bit concern coz Hodgdon recommends the WSR primer on their data.
  3. my concern is using the CCI 450(magnum primer) instead of the CCI 400.
  4. Anybody tried this load - AR 5.56 24.5 h335 55gr oal 2.20 Cci 450(magnum My previous was using the Cci 400, switch to WSR since the 400 is always out of stock ,Now Im having some some flattened and pierced primer on the WSR. Any feedback would be helpful , thanks
  5. Guess my lucky day, been looking for some feeback on this combo- 748 / 55gr., whats your OAL for this if you dont mind.thanks
  6. I must admit that my oldie 18" was better for long range, but because of my "CUTE STRUCTURE" ONLY 5.6" TALL not short, I find my 14.5 more manageable and easier for any shooting position and has a better balance for me. The 18" looks like a walking cane when its on a sling on me. LOL. literally the muzzle is almost on the ground.
  7. Thats what Im doing right now, but dont you think .008 is a little bit high. anyways, will filling or single brass shellplates will also affect the resizing dimemsions? Using 2 toolheads die setup of my 550. thanks
  8. HI, Interested to know of how much is your OAL VARIANCE with a full shell plate versus single brass on the press. Its for my 550 and 223 rem. With a single brass, from my 2.242 OAL will get increase to 2.250 with all 4 stations loaded, its almost .008 OAL difference. thanks
  9. The SAAMI specs for the 223 rem from the base to the shoulder 1.438, some of the factory rounds I measured at 1.442. I am bumping shoulder of my brass to 1.445 using Sinclair bump gage and thats when I experiend some set back if I set the OAL 2.244 BUT they are fine when seated at 2.200( 55gr.Hornady BT with cann). would it be a good idea to follow the SAAMI SHOULDER lenght? As mentioned before it all started when I was using my new Giraurd trimmer.
  10. sorry gents. its 55gr. I reduced my OAL to 2.200 from 2.244 and with luck the setback was eliminated. just a side question what kind of force do you apply for the thumb check, I almost use my whole upper body weight. thanks
  11. Greetings, I got my new Giraurd case trimmer( 223) and want to ask you If I overdid my chamfering. , With my old die set up I never had a problem(bullet setback) with my finish ammo and nothing was change except that this time I was using my new trimmer. No crimping was done before to my rounds, I know that crimping will not do anything on the neck tension. If I may add, my OAL for the 155 gr. is around 2.244, could this be might be culprint for the setback? its seated a liitle bit long? ,WFT was used before my Giraurd. thanks by the way my( MIX) case ID averages 202-203, OD- 242-243
  12. I am planning to have my magnification ring lightened too. whats was the waiting time for this thanks
  13. from some of the CQBers and 3 GUNners I was shooting with, I beleive it was a more of a Vortex in general sort of a comment. some of them were shooting with the PST LINE before.
  14. I got this particular scope because I read a lot of good reviews and good experiences/feebacks from"Vortex- Alamo" previous post. Thanks for all your post, I am a very satisfied and happy with my Purchase that was almost 4 months ago. I hear a lot NAY SAYERS and from ANTI VORTEX that the Durability of my scope is close to crap, ..Although I havnt really used my Razor that much for the last 4 months, ( winter) up here, but I did some CQB and maybe 5 3Gguns matches, and so far my Razor is holding on , no issues so far. Would you be kind emough to share some problems or breakage on your Razor or anybody whom you know that has encounter some . thanks
  15. Winchester SR used to be my favorite, stopped using them about 1 year ago, they got stuck on my Dillon pick up tubes. So its CCI and Federal for now.
  16. In my pistol round, I tumble without depriming, never cleaned the primer pockets and never have a problem. The pins are removable, but its a one piece with the expander ball.. I want to full resized without depriming
  17. will check my Dillon Die if the pin is removable, but I beleive the pin and the expander is 1 piece? cross my hear-LOL, broke 2 pins already, Lyman just sent me 2 pins for free. I cant seem to find a very fine media up here, will try some pet store.
  18. My 223 set up is now perfect with my 550B with Dillon Dies, The only thing that bugs me right now is some claning media got stuck in the primer pocket after my second tumble to get rid of the lube and already broke 2 Lyman decapping pin. Is there such thing as FL sizing die but doesnt decap . Planning of cutting the decapping pin of my Sizing die to eliminate this problem of the cleaning media on my second tumble and will just use a universal decaaping die on my second tool head at station 1. for better discription here's my setup tool head 1,station1 Lube case, then FL resize/decap Trim Tumble- to get rid of the lube/shaving tool head 2 station1 - universal decapping die- to get rid of some media station 2- powder station 3- seating station4- crimp-optional my alternative/ plan setup station1 FL resize but without decapping(lube case) Timmed tumble -to get rid of the lube station2 Decap- Universal decapping die powder seat crimp Any comments, advice is widely welcome. thanks
  19. Rjacobs, can you give some tips and tricks on how you set up your 1200Trim Die since its been Resized already by the Regular Resizing Die at station 1 thanks
  20. www.saami.org/pubresources/cc_drawings/Rifle/223Remington.pdf I always trimmed brass to 1.75 as mentioned before if I can get away of trimming every shooting it would be great.
  21. I believed it was ONE of the SAAMI SPECS DRAWING
  22. Correct me if Im wrong, not 100% on this, The SAAMI max case lenght (223 REM) is 1.760max -.030 min. which would translate to 1.730.00. Maybe Im missing something here?
  23. Range Brass, never thought of this, I do pick up my brass. Any comment on the 1.740 lenght, its still above the min. of 1.730, any risk of escape gasses?
  24. I know Im not the only one that loves to shoot their AR's but hate to reload the ammo, I dont mind the main loading part, but its the case preparation. Mind you I got a Giraud Trimmer. My question is or my plans is to TRIM THE CASE to almost its minimum 1.740 so I can still have 3-4 reloads before the next trimming. My only concern about this lenght is there might some issues of escape gas and my accuracy will suffer, RCBS with their XDIE recommends this lenght. any feedback is welcome. thanks
  25. Are you seating and crimping with the same die? If so I think your issue is your crimp die is not adjusted right to far in(to much crimp)so when u apply the crimp it's "holding" the case before the bottom of the press stroke and your still pushing the case in so it's pushing the shoulder back. Hope that makes sense. Does your brass case have a slight bulge in it at the shoulder? Try backing out the die I think that will solve our problem I am using the Dillon Die, so separate crmp. anyways I adjusted the crimp that is just to put a light crimp, so far its working, the thing is my bullets came with a cannelure. So I guess crimp is mandatory?
