  1. I am interested too on putting a rear sight, The STI rear you mentioned, its this the Bomar Style or their Tac adjustable, maybe a pics would help, thanks
  2. Happy to report that my 1301 is now shooting POA/POI without the MIDBEAD. although its still shooting a little left, maybe my mounting stock/ cheek relationship still needs a little adjustment ( cast off?) thinking of getting a Gel-tek or maybe a rear sight?
  3. Right now as mentioned from my previous posts my 1301 is shooting hight, I will try to take out the MID BEAD sight and just use the front sight, thus avoiding the #8 sight a alignment, maybe it lower the POI??
  4. Well, if you can't get to a 50 yd range, just stick with what you've got and use Kentucky windage, like we used to do with BB guns when were kids. Until you figure out what you want to change. It can get like chasing a zero on a rifle. I use a Spark II from HiViz for the front fiber optic sight and the factory mid bead and I line up the mid bead so it's exactly halfway up the fiberoptic. I also have a 1/8 inch Cheekeeze pad on the stock where my cheek weld is. Practiced my mount so its very close on mounting. The rib is level when I'm welded to it. I think body type, facial structure, length of pull and all of the other myriad factors all play a part in how well a shotgun will shoot slugs (and shot). We 3 gunners don't ordinarily take the time, effort and money that trap and skeet shooters do to get their guns custom fitted, but I think it is worthwhile doing ourselves. It doesn't sound like anything is drastically wrong with your set-up and maybe if you go practice with a friend who can watch you shoot and play with the little things, it might just fall into place. 1301 is a very adjustable gun for us. On my Benelli, there is no mid-bead, so with the Spark II, I just mount the gun so the fiber dot just sits on the rib like a rising sun. Again, level from my cheek weld. Also, I don't know if its shadows or what ,but your handguard seems to stick up a lot more than mine did when I bought mine in June of 2013. Mine was barely an 1/8 inch too high. Also, Neomet and Dave Marques have posted a bunch of pictures in this thread-maybe look at them again. Also Redneck Tactical Facebook page has pictures. I mean Neomet and Dave made whale vaginas. I took my time and I "became the shell" and just slowed down the whole loading thing so I could tell where the hangups were. That's what got us mucking around with the carrier spring. Plus I asked Eric Eckhardt and Rob Romero what they did and looked at their guns. Conclusion was do your thing to the gun, but practice time was the most effective reducer of times once some basic smoothing and modeling of the port were done. its just a shadow, I got mine about 2 months ago, replaced my trusty Supernova.
  5. That would be nice if can post some pics
  6. I can't go lower with the receiver without touching the serial #, Already change the front sight with Hi viz tri comp, same POI, maybe putting a spacer between the rib and sight would raise the POI. The factory choke has the same POi with Carlson
  7. I got my 1301 back from our local smith ( TACORDNANCE) Newmarket- Find his work very good. Side question on my Slugs POI, @ 25 yrds,Carlson IC extended choke Remy Managed reoil Slug shoots 4-5" high and 2" left WW Slugs/1600fps- 2"high and 1" left all groups are within 1.5" would shooting @ 50yrds lowers the POI? ALREADY thinking of installing a folding rear sight ( ruger 10/22) to correct my POI.
  8. I tried the Limbsaver, and ii really helps especially shooting slug of 1600fps, what a big difference , The only thing with the Limbsaver, it increases my LOP, and maybe because of the LS (rubbery) material, it doesnt mount smoothly compared to the factory pad, guess has something to do also of my CUTE Physique too.
  9. Functioned test my 1301 this morning and Im glad to say that it eats up everything. Although the gun functioned 100%, I have some questions or need some advice on some related matters . When I got my 1301, I tried practicing mounting with the factory installed configuration, and noticed that the line of sight is a little low unless I will raise the stock on my shoulder which will result to a not ideal pitch, the part of the heel is a little over my shoulder. , so installed the 65 shim drop spacer had a litttle improvement but still not perfect. If I modify my stance to more forward, thats when I have a good eyes/ sight alignment but its not natural for me. . Will changing the LOP ( 13.5" from the factory) either by increasing/decreasing would help.? . Can I install the butt to the stock without any spacer spacer? Btw, I have a cute physique only 5'6, thanks
  10. I think you pretty much got it. My 1301 shoots very well with a Cyl, IC, and LM for slugs, both Remington low recoil and Fiocchi 1oz low recoil. With Mod choke, not so well. I have shot them with IM and Full. They get through, but off the paper sometimes at 50. I think LM is as far as I would go with slugs. If you need a full choke, probably going to take that popper with a pistol as you described. Maybe not optimal stage design, but without actually seeing it..... For Buckshot, which of the choke works best on your 1301, thanks
  11. My 1301 just came in today, just 2 weeks since I imported via our dealer, very excited. My 1301 came with a plug mag. 2+1 for 3", I was successfull in removing the plug which can now take 5+1 shells of 2 3/4. Do I need to install back the black plastic which I beleive is the spring retainer block or just the magazine cap. , still learning about this new toy, THANKS
  12. Is it the the BerettaFactory Choke( IC)? any recommendation for the Birdshots and Buck?
  13. You either need different chokes for different shot distances, and heavy props, or different shotgun shells. I chose the chokes, cause it's cheaper in the long run. Carlson or Briley? , ( IC, LM, M or IM)?
  14. Is the factory IC choke good enough or I need multiple after market with different costriction, for slugs, buck shot and shots ,kindly share your opinions
  15. Jonny Even the 2 3/4 without the extesion would be fine, i just want to know what extension do I need, i cant go over 5 rnds of 3" in the mag to be legal, 5.9 is fine. Thanks
  16. Factiofx How many 3" and 2 3/4" were you able to load in the tube originally without the Nordic Ext. did you use a clamp. Thanks
  17. My 1301 comp 21" should be here ( Canada) by mid October, just finalized my importation . Can you Gents be kind enough to claify some details about the comp model. Acoording to Beretta it holds 5+1 of 3" capacity, but read some in the "internet" that their 1301 comp only holds 4+1 of 3". Granting it holds 5+1 of 3", how many 2 3/4 I can put on the tube. My plan was to add an extension tube( Nordic) either Plus 1 or Plus 2, that can only hold 5.9 of 3" to make it legal since we are limited to 5 rnds(base on the chamber) for semi. Will the Plus 2 extension pass beyond the bbl lenght of 21" Do I need a clamp for the plus 2 ext. Thanks
  18. Hi, I basically use the 2up or twin load for shotgun loading, Trying to figure out which of the 2 is best for my application. Taccom Double Duelin Dueces or the AP 2up 6 model. real estate and retention of shells and of course the ease of use is also an important factor for me. Maybe you can share your preference and experience. Thanks
  19. thats good to hear that I dont need an extension tube to have 6 rnds of 2 3/4 in the mags. So basically its 6 rnds(2 3/4)plus 1 ghost load and 1 in the chamber makes it 8? Thanks to all your inputs Gents. Now will finalize my importation for this bad boy.
  20. will 6 rounds of 2.75 in the mags? Trying to get some options and ideas the best to way to modify the mags that will only fit 5.9 of 3" to keep it legal. with this maybe I can put 6 rnds of 2 3/4. hope I can get just an extended mag cap only to increase the tube by 2.9 inch.
  21. An all around shotgun, mostly 3 gun, max # of rounds here in canada is only 5 for the semi, so the bbl extension is not an option unfortunetely. Im am shooting open , maybe a choke and comp plus red dot is my ideal set up
  22. one last question before you crucify me, lol. I first directed this question direct to Beretta but its been a week, and no answer it. Maybe you gentelmen can give me some light. Becuse of the compactness and price, the Tactical suit me better, its balance well with my height and size. My question is if I could have the Tactical threaded for Chokes, and will it be compatible with (threading) other chokes style of chokes- eg. RemChoke etc. whatever my gunsmith has. thanks
  23. Thanks, and i believed its a fix cylinder?
