  1. On an earlier post of mine, I inquired about Akai , I dont want to put this 2 builders in one post to avoid builder loyalty, I know this 2 builders are both top notch. So my qustion or inquiry is about experiences of B Kiegan/Freedom 9mm major open gun. Again my thanks for all your inputs.

I am shooting right now a full size 9major, with a schuemann rib bbl. I just switch from a midsize 38super. I"ve been shooting open since the 90"s , and they are the old power factor of 175. Personally, and in theory I beleive the supers is the ideal for an open caliber, but its the brass that let me switch to 9mm major, that the reason I am posting this quwstion to ask you guys your experience. caliber/ models wise,

Have you ever shot a mid-size/shorty vs full-size? They are slightly different beast. I like them both, but they both have pros and cons. Just my personal opinion, but for 9 major I'd go for the Emperor with a hybrid barrel no holes. It will be a very nice shooting platform, even more so for someone new to Open. If your heart is set on 9 major... The Shogun would be my pick for 38SC. A 9 major Shogun isn't bad, but will be harder for a new Open shooter to drive at first, but down the road in good hands a fast platform. Just my 2 cents, but in the end, go with gun you think will make you happy. Being happy with your gun and practice is really the main formula with Open. In the end, call Shay, tell him your expectations and decide with him. He knows his guns the best. I am shooting right now a full size 9major, with a schuemann rib bbl. 5. Hello, Ive been looking at the Akai custom gun site, wow , what a beauty, now I am contemplating of ordering on, but I have no idea which model. Preferrably would go with 9 major with a Quinn2 mount. but of course have to talk to Akai which one he would recommends for caliber wise. Can anybody share their experience in any of these models. in my heart I like the Shogun. thanks
  6. Pinmann44, a few months ago you gave a loading info on HS7, like very much, so far the best gun/load combo for me, luckily a remote supplier a has 20lbs of HS7 on his inventory and selling it for a 40% dicount. grab the whole lot, Hope Hodgdon will resurrect this powder. thanks again

grumpy, looks like you still have a room for the bullet, my 7.4 of n350 and 8.8gr of 3n38 looks identical of your 9mm pics, unless these old eyes are doing some tricks, thanks for the pics,

    vhit n105

HELLO, I am just curious about this powder, tried this powder with my super and 40 open guns, I want to try this to my 9mm major, I heard that its difficult to make major with 105, can anybody pls give an idea on how much "grain" of this powder can a 9mm case take, Right now I am using 9.6GR. of HS7, and the best so far for my gun, unfortunately I got only 20 lbs left. looking at the burning chart of vhitavouri manual, these 2 powders has a comparable burning rate. so your feed back and experience is very much welcome , thanks
  12. Tzyga, you can try lightened the slide and a lighter spring maybe it will move the slide a little bit faster,.with the new EGW COMP, I can be more flexible when it comes to powder choice. ( 3n37,n350,3n38,hs6,hs7, Maybe the Mill comp is more design to work with the 38supers, where you can put more gas vol.
  13. its a CNC 4 port comp for bull bbl, the EDM is a little expensive for my wallet, but Im sure its very good. With the MILL.comp, the comp was not forming a "JET" maybe because the first chamber is a little too big, although its very soft, its just let the gas escape. However its very effective on my 38super,with 2 bbl ports. Tied using HS6,AUTOCOMP, N350 and 3N38,and the 3n38 was the most effective for the MILL COMP on my 9 major. Had the chance to try HS7, and its almost identical than 3n38 even much better, with this powder I dont have to fill up my case 9.4gr. By the way, as recommended by George og EGW, I asked my smith to put a side ports on the last chamber.
  14. The Schuemann comp looks identical to the Millenium comp, I had the chance to try the Mil, its not so effective for my 9 major, but good for the 38super using hydbrid bbls. replaced it with a EGW 4 ports and add 2 side ports as advice by George of EGW. Now in runs soft and flat.
  15. First of all, thanks for all the infos, this might be not interesting since the particular powder in discussion has been discontinued. just compelled to share some feedback. Chronograph my load this morining using HS7 9.0gr, zero 125jhp and a oal of 1.170. Schuemann hybricomp bbl. with no holes. Ave. vel 1275, on the minor side. primers and case looks okay, will try to bump to 9.3 -9.4. Only need 165pf since shooting for IPSC.
  16. Hoserdude, thanks for your reply and info.
  17. Horsedude, are you shooting 38super or major 9? thanks
  18. Hello, I had the chance to pick up some 3lbs of this powder at a local gunshow, any feedback and shooting experience with HS7 for 9 major would be very helpfull. Right now I am using ZERO 125GR JHP with an OAL of 1.170 . thanks
  19. 2 months ago I got my first open gun, no holes. I waited til after 3k rounds then I decided I needed the holes. I recently had a local gunsmith put 3 holes and was returned to me on the day of a match. With same load/ammo, shooting style and no practice getting used to the holes, it helped me speed up my 2nd shots. It worked for me. YMMV 8.0 3N37 PF 170 before, 8.0 3N37 PF 168 after. Just want to share my experience... What size holes? Could you post some picks to give us a reference? Thanks My smith called it a #3 hole, probably a metric drill bit size. Here is a link to a blown up picture that will give you a better idea: http://www.sashooter...ageViewsIndex=1 This one might be easier to see: [/url]http://www.sashooter.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=731 We actually started with a smaller hole and didn't like the results so made it bigger and it flattend out and softened up. If you study the brazos guns he uses 4 smaller holes, hoever I've shot a gun with a Brazos comp with two holes slightly smaller than the size as the one in the picture and it was very nice, belongs to KevinG the Rudy guy, and he loves talking about his gun, I thought he was full of bull till I shot the gun. N105 with 121gr is his load, he said 9.5gr but I don't think that is enough in 38SC, must be a heck of fast barrel, its a Briley. The TruBore I was referring to is one I sold to my smith, and he immediatley took the slide to the mill and proceeded to take it down to 10 oz. After the expierement on my gun he drilled his.. He is sponsoring a Master Class shooter with that gun and they run N105 w/124gr and it shoots a lot better than it did without the hole. Coco, I am just curious about the blast especially on your cmore lens, you are using the 90 degree cmore mount right? me too is contemplating of adding a poppple to my bbl, thanks
  20. I had the chance to try an open gun with the side mounted cmore, maybe because I am used to the tradtional mount,I am having problems reaching and deactivating the thumb safety on the side mounted gun. Need your feedback regarding QUINN2 and PREDATOR mounts, will there be an issue on reaching the thumb safety? Quinn2 mount as advertised has a slot for easier adjustment, any idea on the Predator? To make my questions short, please share the PROS and CONS between the two makes. thanks

  23. cjk2011, You still have room for your bullet with 9.2gr of 3n38?, thanks
  24. Ncboiler, thanks for the infos for 3n38, I am just looking for some alternative powders, if you have time, can you post some pics of 8.5gr for 3n38.or maybe can you just describe the difference between 8.5gr. and 8.7,( powder/ brass capacity) I am shooting for IPSC, so 165PF is what Im looking for. thanks again
  25. thanks for the pics, My n350 load of 7.4gr. and 3n37 7.5gr. looks identical with your pics, thanks again sorry, quoted the wrong post, should be on ncboiler post
