  1. College football is the best. You don't get this kind of passion in any other level of support that in college and as for football, you'd never see this with NFL fans. Rich and when nebraska starts running the ball again, i'll waych college football. till then, my saturdays are free...
  2. ok, stage 4 will now be only 18 slugs. stages 5 & 6, long range rifle, have targets from about 50 to 240 yds or so...nothing beyond that. count on strange shooting positions, lots of running, doing cpr and probably laying in the dirt. and just for geoff, a ramp. our pigeon flippers are getting the clays to go about 20-25' in the air. lots of rifle partials and no-shoot city on the slug stage. hardly any pistol, what can i say. we'll be doing 5 squads to try to get thru the match by 1630-county ord sez that's the last shot. be there ready for a walkthrough at 0830. this morning at the range it was 27 degrees...got nicer as the day went by. but dress warm. yea, fridge will be open-but the beer is at my house.
  3. yep-24 slugs-personally, i think 24 is boring-agree w/berkim-but i had no say. and it will be dicey-no-shoots on almost all 12 targets-distance about 35 yds. sorry. rifle...george, i'll see the finals on friday, but expect your favorite sick shooting positions. rich-yer shooting yoylo on ny eve? hell, i mioght just have to drop by...
  4. marine corps in 1971 was about the same-only difference now, as i understand it, is you don't get routinely punched, kicked, cussed, etc. i had heard all the words but never used the way my DI's did. actually funnier than hell. i could go on for hours with the stories. bottom line, if yer a marine, plan on running-forever, and then more. pushups-like the di said, "till the ambulance gets here". whatever you can think of, the marine corps does it 10 times over, and then again. the only way to do. i'd do it all over again. even without the draft. then there was the m-14...sweet, till you got your thumb put in the action for saluting incorrectly...
  5. has anyone out there had their blaster ionbonded? heard from taran it's really tuff stuff, but the web site has almost nothing about firearms refinishing...
  6. just get the actual movie url from the info pane of yer browser, download it and change the file typre to ".flv". then, there are lots of programs that will convert it to better codecs, like quicktime.
  7. in california, we all line up for hi-cap frames and ar lowers pretty much every week.

great thread...many years ago, cal elrich (he of fast draw fame) and a great ipsc shooter, sold a line of wax bullets. he sold these with .45 acp brass that were drilled out to accept shotgun primers. they were used for fast draw practice. anyway, me and a buddy are having a few ales and he announces he wants to get shot in the arse with one. i oblige. it was simmer and we went out in the yard and i prroceeded to load one in an old plaxco pin gun i had. wham, right in the backside, just below where his cutoffs were. most amazing and immediate bruise i've ever seen. funny as hell. didn't chrono it, but it was moving.
  9. That was the name of a vegetarian restaurant/catering operation on Castro street near 24th in the mid sixties (San Francisco). I went to grammar school around the corner. The name of that place was a huge source of schoolboy snickering on the way home every day.I also went to the Fillmore West and the carousel Ballroom whenever I could sneak out at night, but I don't remember very much about those days ;-) i don't remember much either, between winterland and the fillmore. can't blame loss of hearing on shooting-twas the mountain and hendrix concerts... guess todd was in pre-school then.
  10. todd-i had a couch like that in the late 60's. too many nights at the fillmore.
  11. +1 rich. but i gotta believe if MV wasn't the el prez, we probably wou;dn't be where we're at rat now in terms of multigun.
  12. Has anybody in Northern California gotten their issue of Front Sight as of 11/14/2006 at 1549hrs...? thanks, Mike i can tell you i haven't, but that's nothing new. i believe there was a thread awhile ago trying to explain why if the mag comes from washington, it gets to florida 3 weeks before it gets to norcal.
  13. Otherwise known as 3- gun quarterly which is how often i get the magazine anyway...
