  1. I set up my V-tac barrier for 2 stages in my local multi-gun match. It was really hard to the the IDPA guys to stick their barrel through the ports. If they stuck it all the way through to the end of their handguard, the dust isn't too bad. I also put a carpet down after practicing in the dirt many times. It helps a lot. Also keeps people from bitching too much about using the barrier in a match.
  2. Sorry I didn't have time to share my experience with you at today's match. Mine was FUN! My doctor was a total perve...heard rumors about him doing the nurses in his office and sure enough....every nurse he had was HOT!!! I was 15 and I remember my nurse rubbing up against me and me getting pretty excited. They put me out and when I woke up, my mom was waiting on me. I asked her if I could drive home. I felt so good! She looked at me like I was crazy and of course kept the keys to herself. A couple days after the surgery the surf was head high....big surf for South Carolina....and I went surfing high on the perkacets or whatever narcotic I was prescribed. That was a fun day of surfing. God bless painkillers. I took good care not get dry socket which my wife got when she had her's removed. She was not a happy camper.
  3. I went to their website to check it out. Why the fake magazine extension? Yes. Take that thing apart and put some pics up. See if that "faux" magazine extension can be converted to the real deal or if a new one can be put on it.
  4. Cut the velcro where the fore arm stock meets the receiver. Stick a piece to the forearm and use the entire length of the shell holder. Remove the shell holder to disassemble the gun. Make sure you put in some holes that match up with the receiver pins in the velcro before you stick it to the receiver so you can remove your trigger group.
  5. I wonder if the recoil from the fired round is causing something to happen in the firing pin/trigger group mechanism? Hmmmm.
  6. Shot my first 5-stand match Friday with a 20" barrel auto loader I use for multi-gun. I hit 12 birds in 2 rounds. I'm going to try again with 1 1/4oz #8 loads and the IC choke in hopes it will throw a bigger pattern. It was very fun and I now have an O/U on my list of toys to buy.
  7. Estate heavy game, S&B heavy game, AA target, Rem Gunclub, Federal and winchester law enforcement slugs, and a bunch of old paper stuff I picked up at a gunshow. The only stuff that's given me trouble is the Fiocchi slugs and buck and the remmy light recoil buck I shot today. Buck isn't used that often but I need to figure out what works. Kind of sucks to have to do that when my local club only has shotgun matches once every couple months and only 3 or 4 rounds of buck are needed. I haven't run any wally world crap through it yet as I stocked up on ammo with a cabela's gift card!
  8. I've been pleased with my CZ. At today's match, I borrowed 3 rounds of low recoil buck and it wouldn't cycle it....kind of threw me off on that stage. All but one other guy and myself could not take down the steel because they were running non-choked guns. My 20" barrel worked great with a modified choke. I may even open it up some with the IC choke as the buckshot patterns were ridiculously tight. The CZ is stupid easy to take apart and doesn't have many parts. I'm glad I got mine even if the extension sticks out a bit. I've shot the thing a bunch with a lot of different ammo...maybe 150 rounds....cleaned it but was really wasting my time.
  9. Shot 2 rounds of 5-Stand yesterday....I sucked and only hit 6 birds each round. Need more practice on that for sure. Today had a tactical match and it kicked ass until I borrowed 3 rounds of remington low recoil buck for a stage. It did NOT like it. Would cycle it through and eject the empty. It did clean a 6 plate rack with 4 shots!
  10. Lighter springs allow you to use reloaded ammunition that may not cycle a factory spring. If your ammo is cycling your gun correctly, then don't change the spring. If you are running mouse fart reloads, your gun probably won't cycle well with the factory 17# spring. I ran a 13# spring in a really light 115 gr load that probably would have never made power factor. As for the trigger, get the 3.5# connector and do some polishing...watch a youtube video on it. There's tons info out there. Do some work to it yourself before you buy something else. You may get it to where you like it by only spending a little time and elbow grease on it. You can change out the barrel as long as it is stock length. An aftermarket barrel can save you money in bullet costs if you are reloading allowing you to use cheap(er) lead bullets (no jacket).
  11. If you can get down on the vent rib with your line of sight, shooting slugs at around 50 yards is surprisingly easy. With my remington and CZ both, I have a hard time getting down on the vent rib so I put on some sights that are a bit higher allowing me to get a much faster sight picture when shooting slugs. I really can't tell a difference with shooting shot at plates and clays. Haven't tried any flyers since I've put these sights on but I'm sure it won't be hard to figure out.
  12. +1 Dillon does make a cover with an accessory cable lock. Good both for cleanliness and safety. BTW - if you're anything like me, that's the cleanest that bench will ever look. It only goes downhill from here on I'm glad I'm not the only slob on this forum. I seem to be able to only keep the area where I have the brass and bullets on hand clean. The rest of the bench is a nightmare. It doesn't help that it doubles as my bicycle wheel building bench.
  13. Kevin, I'm considering buying a 2nd tumbler and doing what you do. Plus, if one goes out of service I am not SOL. What timers do you use? I have no idea what a cheap timer is. I have Lowes, Home Depot, and Walmart near me if what you bought is available there. Thanks in advance, Walsh Get one of the timers that will shut off your tumbler. They are in the lighting section. You should be able to get an old skool style with the 24 hour dial that you stick little switches in there to turn things on and off. I have one that is at least 25 years old. I'll fill my dillon tumbler with 223 brass, cover it with a mix of walnut and corncob, add some polish, and let it rip for 4 hours. Nice and shiny!
  14. Finally able to get the gun out to the range today to sight in the Williams Sights. I went through way too many slugs to get that thing zeroed at 50 yards. Ouch. Next time I buy slugs they'll be managed recoil or low recoil. Luckily our local matches only require a couple slug rounds every match. I know some people think the shorter barrel vs. longer mag tube looks funny, but I can't tell when I'm shooting it. Did I mention how much I love shooting this thing? It is fast. Guy sharing the range with me had a brand new Benelli and I let him shoot a few rounds through my gun. He was impressed. I let him know he could have 3 CZ's for the price of his Benelli. His gun was definitely prettier though. It was good to actually be able to check out the patterns with some repeated firings. To start off I put on the full choke to make sure the pattern was even close to my POA. Then I went through 8 slugs with the modified choke and finally got the sights adjusted correctly. Then I ripped 9 rounds straight as fast as possible. I'll never own a pump again. I like this gun a lot and I'm glad I didn't spend the next couple of months saving more money for something different. I've been practicing loading....strong hand I can do without catching my thumb on the lifter. I've got some of my students in the metal shop at the school where I teach working on a bolt handle. I kind of botched the butt pad, but once again, I can't tell while I'm shooting. It shoulders quickly and the LOP is perfect now. The pad helps a bit with those slugs. Now I'll save a few coins for a side saddle and it will be ready to roll.
  15. Still not under 50 seconds, but with a 9" plate at 50 yards, it's pretty tough. 9 hole practice
  16. Unless one side is covered by a no-shoot.
  17. Never used titegroup or n320, but Clays is SUPER FLUFFY which keeps it from metering well. I haven't shot my loads for groups but had little trouble shooting well with it at a match.
  18. It said 55 gr. I probably should contact Midway to let them know. I'd prefer the 62 anyway but on the website 62 gr was more expensive. Maybe I should order a bunch more of the 55's in hopes of getting 62's.
  19. I ordered 1000 55gr Armscor FMJBTC bullets from Midway at a pretty good price. I experimented with a few different loads and was surprised to see some of my loads popping primers loose. I ended up settling on much lighter loads due to the groups I was getting. I bought some more 55 gr bullets from another forum and thought..."these are MUCH smaller". Sure enough, I put both bullets on the scale and the Armscor was a 62 gr....consistent too. I've loaded over 800 rounds with the 62 gr and they are HOT. I intended to run not-so-hot loads but I'm not really complaining since they shoot well and I've placed well in both carbine/3-gun matches I've done with these loads. Just a reminder to check your bullet weights especially if you are ordering off-brand or discount type products.
  20. I just started using Clays with a 124 MG, 1.16 oal in a G17. I started with 3.6 grains but it wasn't cycling all the time and definitely not able to lock the slide back with a factory Gen 4 spring. Upped it to 3.7 grains and I can go to slide lock and ejection is beautiful with the factory spring. It shoots softer than I could ever imagine. I will have to find a chrono soon to make sure I make PF for my first major match this summer. If it makes PF, I'll be stoked and probably never ever use anything different.
  21. A chrono is like any measurement device where it's validity can be debated. If this is bugging you, don't get a graduate degree in any sort of science. More than half the research in science is about the validity of a certain measurement device. I hated it. Vegas Seans advice is solid. It's kind of like your scale at home. It may read differently from your doctor's scale or your gym's scale. It doesn't matter as it's all relative. Use your scale and only care about what it says. Don't use a different chrono every time you go to the range. Use the same one...then the only variable you have to deal with are temp and air pressure.
  22. Yeah....that one looks like it's going to wobble a bit once you get the 550 cranking....especially if you decide to start doing rifle calibers. Bolt it to the wall or your shelves or everything on them will fall off before you get through your first tube of primers!
  23. ....and quite possibly become lower quality or something entirely different.
  24. If there is a non-disclosure agreement....that makes this thread even more super cool to be watching. Benny really hasn't said much other than letting us all know that cutting the barrel down and threading it isn't a big deal.
  25. I like Home Depot better as well. Lowe's doesn't even sell stuff that is required to be used with other products they stock. Mindless. Only problem is that Lowes is 6 minutes away and HD is 30 minutes away. If you can find a good Ace near you, they may surprise you....especially in regards to cheap o-rings for a gas operated shotgun.
