  1. Made that mistake last year, hope you are not shooting Thursday AM. Looking at stages on the page is one thing, seeing the videos helped a lot. I am sure there will be plenty of videos on youtube soon.
  2. I understand what your saying but you don't have to repeat the same thing over and over. I 've been to a ton of matches and no one have ever said anything about it. I see what you saying in the video but I can also see that my finger is not on the trigger and is to the side. Ok am not a pro shooter but bro you post a video here and you want to improve right? So just take what everybody says... I put some piece of griptape on my frame and everytime i reload or move i need to feel that rough thingy.... And if you keep on doing that stright fingers that are are saying time will come RO will not let you go... Just saying coz everytime i RO i watch that finger like a hawk by the way Your shooting is fine... +1. I put a piece of grip tape on the frame of my Tanfo/Witness, and now it is always glued on there. As an RO, and acting CRO (almost certified) at local, and major matches... having people put their gold digger on the frame of the gun is a sign of relief and builds trust in the shooter. There was one shooter locally, whom I ran, very sloppy with mag changes (from the safety perspective), moving without really getting the trigger out of there, and when I was not 100% positive of what I saw, (he is a taller shooter so had a hard time seeing), I pulled him aside and told him what a saw. This happened 3 times at least, and every time he was more concerned about how he shot, then to bother about his gun handling and safety was. It was as I was talking to the wall. A few months later, I am the scoring RO at a sectional match, so standing to the side, and see a shooter approaching a closed port, on the 180, with a finger on the trigger in the trigger guard. Was 100% clear, a bit more than your videos, I yell stop, unload show clear, call the range master, DQ. Later on that day I recalled it was the same shooter. No matter if you had an amazing day or a bad day, it still beats not shooting for score or going home early because you DQ'ed. While a lot of local matches may have unskilled or inexperienced RO's, when you go to a sectional, an Area match, or Nationals, where you have big money on the line (between ammo, entry fee, hotels), you are not likely to get chances. Otherwise, as far as shooting, yes... call your shots more, no reason to take so many extra shots just because it has a hard cover. Look at yourself hitting plates on the first shot. Those targets are damn close. Just shoot and have faith in yourself. Visualize the stage, as others have said, in your head. When you go to the line, and at the make ready, take includes mentally too. Replay the stage in your head, vizualize your gameplan and replay in your head. SEE yourself shooting the stage. Have third person video, then replay it and see how you actually executed it. Take your time, get your hits, shoot safe, and take it from there. Edit: As an RO, running a right handed shooter, detecting finger in the trigger guard or on the trigger is the hardest thing to do. It is often the scorekeeper RO who has the visual from the left side to see it, however they are often not paying attention or do not know they can stop the shooter. As an RO running the shooter, unless I am 100% positive of what I see, I would not stop them, thus why you have so many people getting away with finger on the trigger, in the guard. First person video shows you alot better. Video does not lie. You can here looking for an opinion, you posted your video. I am giving you my opinion as far as what I look for/at as an RO, working all spectrum of matches from local to nationals. Just work on it.
  3. Thanks for posting the videos. Two notes, 1. Stages 2, 6, 8 do not seem to work for me. Unrecognized format? 2. Stage 16 is shot upside down. =P Stages look fun, and fairly high HF wise. Absolutely a change from last year's stages.
  4. +1, it happens. My first happened almost 2 years into shooting, wish it was sooner. lol. Plenty of things to be nervous about first few matches. That is why all of the new shooters at our clubs, usually just tell them... you are not going to win your first matches anyway, so focus on making sure you don't do anything stupid, take your time and shoot safe, and have fun. Then worry about the other stuff.
  5. SAR had 2 lines, the other was a straight Sig 226 copy. EAA is only importing the 45 acp, however at shot show, the 9mm was pretty nice. During media day, tried shooting a few others, but the reps were very stingy with ammo, 4 rounds and that is it, and they would take the gun away from you. Some of the other guns they made.... pure gaudy.
  6. Will it still make major? Looking for a 40 minor load for production. N320, WSF, WST and Unique are on the powder shelf. =P Bullets avail are 180 grain Xteme Plated, or 180 grain Precision Delta FMJ. Although I do have some 165, 180, and 200 grain moly bullets.
  7. I would really focus on this... "You need to get your gun handling under control before worrying any more about match performance. I think if the RO's were on their game you would not have made it passed the first or second stage." If this is a state championship match, and during all those stages, the RO's did not say anything, I don't think it would fly anywhere here, especially since it is a state championship match. You should of been sent home.... multiple times. There was one point in the video where you were clearing a malfunction, your finger was in the guard, almost on the trigger. Another time, your finger was on the trigger as you were racking the slide. I flinched waiting for you to let a round loose. What generally ticks me off, particularly at local matches, you pull a shooter out after a stage, and give them what you saw, very close to 180, or something that should of been DQ but you were not 100% certain.... and all the shooter cares about is how they shot. Focus on shooting a match where you did nothing that broke the basic safety rules, then focus on improving your shooting performance.
  8. Bear Creek is lead? Surprised that all it takes is 4.3 grains. Takes 4.9 with plated out of an SVI. I need me a 6" gun. lol Thanks for sharing.
  9. Any videos from the side? Those are usually alot more helpful. However what I will say.... get your damn finger off the trigger and out of the trigger guard during reloads. In the first 2 mins, on 3 out of 4 reloads, finger either on the trigger or in the guard before the mag is in or gun is pointed in a safe direction towards a target. Edit: Sarge beat me to it before I hit submit.
  10. Nice, going to see it with the wife now.
  11. Most of all, squad with people you know or are american shooters. As an RO, I have never seen more lazy shooters, or shoot and scooters. Beyond that, the international shooters whom believe minor dq violations should not be called, such as walking with finger on trigger. Would I shoot this match again? Hell yes. Shooting in Florida in the Winter. Working it or shooting it with folks I do not kow... not so much to I don't know.
  12. While FO is a level 2, the stages are on par with nationals if not more fun/difficult.
  13. One other thing I have noticed now that I have worn the ELS for about 8 matches.... unlike the DAA, there is far less dead space around the back of the belt because it is too rigid. the ELS while strong, is able to wrap and contour to your body very well.
  14. How is the thickness on them? In between the fat wood grips and the Gold team aluminum ones?
  15. Has nothing to do with Tanfoglio. =) I did play with this gun at Shot Show 2011 and did find it well built and fantastic deal for a high cap 45.
  16. All I shoot now, and will be at Nationals are the 180 Grain Xtreme Plated HP. At Area 8, had a variance of about 15 fps out of a 10 shot group, with N320. I really am a fan of these bullets, as the bang for the buck... tough to beat.
  17. Lol. Get there early? And wait 2 and a half hours in line with everyone else? =) Around 4:30 or 5pm, there was pretty much no one there.
  18. But yes, they are located at the same building. Different people, but I am guessing same customer service. Does not cost much to start a new company.
  19. Actually, they are not. =) I met with both, EAA, IFG and Mr. Tanfoglio (Massimo Tanfoglio) at shot show in Vegas this year. IFG is the tanfoglio run group who imports Tanfoglios and a few other Italian firearms lines into North America. EAA is kind of the evil step child and was the exclusive importer of Tanfoglio handguns into the United States. IFG can import the guns into the United States, but did not. Wondering if this changed.
