  1. i think the thing about hs-6 from what ive gathered, is that you gotta really push the stuff. i guess you found that out. maybe its more clean at that PF too. also heard that. i may try to push 3n38 out of my super too up to a PF like that. might be fun.
  2. your tellin me you can make major with 3n38 with 3 port hybrid in 9 major? i check to see what a 9 case can hold of 3n38 and 9.1-9.2 and it was FIlled. to the top. it takes 10.0 to make major in my super comp with a 3 port hybrid. interesting.
  3. thats puuurty. i like the short flat trigger on my open gun. have fun with it!
  4. me from last years area 3. a little late but i just found this thread. my other vids should be in the sidebar form all the stages of that match. c class open at the time.
  5. hs-6 is a pretty quick powder. itll be interesting to see how it behaves in a ported 38 super.
  6. I tried cmj bullets at major pf and they sucked hard. Went back to jhp and never looked back. Full size open sti custom.
  7. those compression socks are standard in the OR for that reason! and im glad it was a success. i work in the OR so im naturally curious about surgery. they have some awesome equipment out there for ACL surgery and im sure you will recover fast.
  8. I have not shot many other open gun besides mine, but im happy with it. Its a 38 SC full size STI. 3 Port hybrid. shoots nice.
  9. what procedure are you having done?
  10. a single stack 1911 may fit the bill too. gunbroker has a couple most of the time i think for not that much.
  11. go with super comp only if your ready to pay a little more for brass, and be prepared for times when folks may be out of super comp. i like shooting super comp, and i knew what i was getting into. theres honestly not much you need on your open gun. slide racker is just somethin you should have for the reasons above. extended mag release sounds good to have. i dont have one cause im too lazy to have it done by my smith. a good magwell is good. otherwise your good to go. once you get the gun, start testing bullets and powder, then shoot the snot out of it.
  12. ya try and other powder in that 9 major? HS-7 is out of commission, and 350 is just one powder. if it works, it works though! thats for sure. nice looking gun
  13. shooting on the move can save you time depending on the stage. check out this vid. my goal was to not stop moving. just keep moving down the steel (32 all steel stage) i got 13th on the stage at area 3 out of all the open shooters.
  14. Ahhhhh gotcha. Well in that case get your hands on somethin and shoot the heck out of it. Open guns are alot of fun!
  15. try to find deals like this http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=280495058 i too have seen quite a few glocks in open. i can only think of one that actually ran, but it wasnt terribly accurate. all the others had malfunctions. if you wanna be competitive in open, and you wanna save money, then open isnt for you. your going to have to spend a good amount to get an open glock to be reliable and accurate. why take all that time when theres deals like this caspian around? glocks are not made to be competitive in open. STI, caspian, EEA, tangfo etc have models for that division, and that type of shooting with major ammo.
  16. i bought the .380 acp/ 38 supercomp from brian enos
  17. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=280495058 looks like a great deal. 850 no reserve, no bids 3 days left. comes with 4 mags. looks like the seller doesnt know much about it. if it shoots and runs, thats a helluva deal. i need a backup gun, and this setup is very similar to my primary. just not quite enough funds, and i need to save. may be a good deal for someone looking to get into open. 10 gr of 3n38 ill bet it would shoot great.
  18. i use lee deprime/resize, dillon flare( and powder) , redding comp seating die (the cats ass), and lee factory crimp. probably be fine with dillon crimp die. the redding is where its at though.
  19. if you get a chance, try an accuracy test with those cmj's. I bought into them a while ago thinking, hot dang, no lead in comp, and i get the nose of an FMJ. but the accuracy was poor in my open gun, and the 124 JHP's shot circles around them. they were way more accurate. i read that it may have something to do with how much bullet is touching the rifling when its fired. i dunno. just pay attention to it. i may be wrong. ymmv
  20. ok so found out that there IS a small tube in with a little blue tip on it, found out it wasnt down ffar enough. new problem, now my primer slide is super sticky, and isnt sliding smoothly in and out of the primer pickup. i think a good lubing, and wiping should clear this up right? its getting stuck inside of where the primer is picked up. having a hard time going in, and out. the spring isnt strong enough to bring it out of the primer pickup area. thats how sticky it is. all i need is a cleaning right?
  21. I just bought a 550b for the first time and im setting it up, and i dropped a full tube of primers down the chute. i tried loading a primer in a new, empty case and when i went up with the ram and the primer slide went back to pick up a new primer, a whole bunch popped out. and now, when i go to drop a new tube of primers down, they fall stright out the bottom without stopping, and spill out all over around the bottom of the press. the press was slightly used when bought. setup for small primers, and im using small rifle primers for 38 SC. dont really know why the primers arent being stopped at the bottom. help please? thanks.
  22. nah i guess i havent. i thought about it but i wanted to make sure i could still adjust em as needed. but im sure i could still with just a little bit of loc tite.
  23. so is the allen bolt like the original DAA mag pouches? the originals are what i have now and the allen bolt through the middle of those tend to loosen up. i was hoping that the racer pouch would be a little different.
  24. im looking to upgrade from my older style DAA mag pouches, but the aluminum racemaster pouches are very expensive, but now i see these more affordable pouches and i think im gonna get them. anyone know if they perform just like the aluminum ones? thanks alot.
