  1. So I got the ejector off and filed it down. Had to take a decent amount off because the mags push up pretty high. A little concerning. It still touches but not as bad. I don't want to take too much material off. I'm wondering what I can do about the mag sitting too high. They are all old style svi mags. Maybe new style won't sit so high? Or I could try the Dawson mag release, if it fits?
  2. Sounds good I'll try it. It seems to bend rather easy now but if I make a relief cut maybe there won't be any pressure anymore and it will stay.
  3. Yea they touch but I don't do alot of reloading. I mean you'd have to hit it pretty good. Plus hand cycling the gun bent it far enough over to lock up. I mean maybe I could have it it hard once, bent it and now it's weak and the ejecting rounds are bending it over? Would the Dawson mag catch that prevents over insertion work on an SVI steel grip?
  4. I got the slide off by bending the ejector through the bottom of the grip. Cleared the interchangeable breach face and took the slide off. Need to replace the ejector. Could a tight extractor be the culprit for the bending? I've noticed the gun runs fine but hand cycling like taking the round out at the end of a stage, the round just falls and doesn't really eject. Almost never can flip and catch the round because it just dribbles out. Just trying to find the cause of bent ejector.
  5. They are touching it but the ejector is bending still without touching the mags. And it's not bending up it's bending out to the left. Just wonder if I should install the Brazos or put and SV back in once I can get the slide off.
  6. The ejector on my gun has been bending out to the left slightly and have been trying to figure out why. Straightened it and Went out and hand cycled some rounds and now it appears the ejector is stuck behind the lip of the interchangeable breach face preventing the slide from coming back to takedown position. Any suggestion on why the ejector is bending? Gun has a decent amount of rounds on it could be wore out? And how how the hell can I get the slide off to change it? Thanks for the help
  7. Thanks. I wish cmore would get my rts 2 back. Looks ugly without an optic haha.
  8. That's the end result. Really like this thumb rest. It's almost natural from the draw to have the thumb sit on it. It goes right there.
  9. Crap sorry i ran into an issue that delayed me. The screws i got with the mount were too long by just a bit. Well I'm got a little aggressive on the grinder and wound up getting one too short. Nobody local has 6-40 fine thread screws so i got some extras from IPSC Alex. They just got here yesterday so i think I'm gonna try to get it done tonight here. My RTS 2 is getting the diode replaced anyway so I'm not in a rush. I'll post pics of the end result for sure.
  10. I sent in my rts 2 to have the dot module changed on Friday the 3rd and haven't got it back yet. But with shipping times I'm hoping this week would be about right on time.
  11. Precision deltas are good bullets. Plus you can buy sample packs of 100 so you can try before you buy a ton. You can try out 124 and 115 to see what performs best. I've always used JHP because they just seem to be as accurate as i can get. No leading the comp. Nice and clean. Also Hornady HAP 125 gr and zero 38 super 125 gr are .356 diameter bullets and may help with accuracy. Chrono everything. The velocity does change a bit between all of those bullets. In my gun at least.
  12. I think a simple drill that wouldn't eat too much ammo would be to draw and fire on two partial targets ( covered with no shoots) from a respectable distance. Take two shots on each, then reload and take two more on each. Get your A's .With the partial targets it will make you track the dot and call your shots. Reloads and draw in there to get good at finding the dot when it goes away. That's what comes to mind. I may be way off. Live fire is gonna be the only way to help the dot tracking. Just get used to what your sight picture does during recoil. Repetition.
  13. What kinda gun are you going to run? Barrel length? Holes? Comp?
  14. OK sounds good. Gonna work on it tonight. I'm sending the rts 2 to cmore today anyway so might as well work on it while the dot is away. Thanks for the help.
  15. Do i want red loctite on the screws for the sight as well?
  16. Guess I'll won't need them. Was looking at my regular hex keys to see which size i needed and decided to give the screws a turn and all 3 turn without heat applied. And wasn't even too hard. So yea someone skipped the red loctite after changing the mount.
  17. Holy crap i started this thread a while ago! Don't shoot 38 super anymore but it actually went a custom order from a local gunsmith at the time. 3 port scheumann hybrid. It was awesome with 3n38 powder. i think the "hybrid" vs "popple" difference is on a hybrid the barrel is made with a rib and it is drilled with bigger ports. Like the barrel was meant to have big holes holes. Popple holes are smaller usually and are drilled right into the barrel with no rib. I'm no expert but that's what I'm think of between both terms. And they do help i think. Two big ports for 9 major and 3 or more 38 super.
  18. I got the steel grip so I think I'm gonna just leave it on. Also got a solder tool as well to apply heat. I ended up messaged IPSC Alex and he said his stuff is based off his SVI guns and his thumb rest will go right on. He sends appropriate length and size screws. Should be good to go. I think I'm gonna get a better set of hex keys however. Not too many good ones around the house. Eklind T handle style should be OK?
  19. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a bunch Barron
  20. How did you do the screws? I see it has 4 holes and my SV has 3. Are they spaced the same as the SV mount?
