  1. That is some good information. I haven't tried the new Sport Pistol powder. I use bullseye pretty much exclusively for a long time. Berry's 158 round nose. SNS 160 or 147 xtreme .357. The last seem to work good in a 9mm as well.
  2. I have shot a lot of steel matches using special cases. I just started using short colt cases. I like a little more power for the steel. They used to have a minimum velocity for steel matches. 750 ft/second to reduce ricochets. That was from the steel target manufacturer. Still a low end load especially for a 125 grain bullet. I think you will like the short colt cases. They need less powder than special cases and don't have the powder not filling the case problem. Get enough revolver supply moon clips and you can shoot the whole match without loading clips at the range.
  3. I have the Lee 6 cavity mold. I have been shooting that in a 66 no dash for IDPA. I am not powder coating yet but SNS 160 grain round nose are promising. I have a 627 pro that I need to get USPSA ready. The Lyman mold for the 358311 four cavity is one I have been working with. Then I need to get some 38 short colt cases and give that a try.
  4. I know of one person setting off a tray full of primers with a static discharge. Cut up his hand pretty good. There should be some best practices written for this problem. Carpet in the area is a bad idea. Direct wiring the press to a ground is a bad idea. It can cause a static discharge with the high current spark. A better practice is to ground the press through a 1 Megohm resistor that limits the discharge current to a non dangerous value. It is better to dissipate the charge rather than a high current discharge. Having a bare concrete floor does help dissipate the charge.
  5. I just saw this thread, and thought I would add some other options. I use a pc laptop with remix os (Android) on a usb stick running practiscore. I like the use of my normal laptop with the keyboard. I have an Android tablet as backup. We use nook simple touch for the steel challenge matches. In steel challenge times are entered with the automatic decimal point. Very handy. The Nooks with the newest practiscore can update the app without a memory card inserted. Very handy. The IDPA matches run in our area use I pads for master and Kindles for scoring.
  6. I think the 1G will do the job fine. Maybe 500M also. The files are smaller than that.
  7. I used an 8G to root all of the NSTs that we use. It was pretty easy. Once you get the Nooks upgraded to the latest release the sd card is no longer needed for upgrades to practiscore..
  8. I think you have something unusual going on with your loaded rounds or the cylinder isn't chamfered at all It almost sounds like you are using a taper crimp or not enough roll or the case is bulging just a bit at the mouth. I have a new 627 pro with no additional chamfering. I use the cheap ranch clips with Federal, R-P and Winchester brass I use several different round nose and conical bullets including the extreme 158 RNFP. I use a nice roll crimp on the round. Semi wad cutters don't work so good. They all drop right in without much wiggling.
  9. Dies do make a big difference. I have used Lee and Hornady. Now I use a Dillon set with no lube. Much easier than 9mm
  10. I haven't tried the 8 shooter with 6 in the moon clip, but I am sure I am going to do it in the future. I have shot my 66 at a lot of IDPA matches. I will let you know how it goes with the 627 pro after a few matches.
  11. The 627 pro can actually be used in IDPA because of the barrel length. I have yet to try it, but if you can index it quick enough it may be viable.
  12. I have a 627 pro and I like it a lot. It seems like there are a lot of 929s being sold near here. They are doing pretty good with them. I don't have any 9mms to share ammo with, but I have a lot of 38 and 357 magnums. I had one of the early 625 model of 1988. 5 inch barrel. It was a lot heavier than the pro. The pro just a little heavier than my model 66 I vote for the pro. Put on a fiber optic front sight and shoot fast with it.
  13. How about an OTG flashdrive. Sam's club had a regular USB 3.0 16G drive plus a OTG 3.0 drive for $10 It works great with an Android tablet.
  14. The "match results" are not in a format to import into practiscore. The match export function outputs the match in a psc format file that can be imported.
  15. The new Website looks like a winner. Thanks for the hard efforts.
  16. From the Practiscore website the file for the combined match results are in the HTML format. If the file is saved to a dedicated folder in windows, the folder can be searched for file contents which could include your name or Uspsa number. From the Practiscore program the HTML format can be emailed to yourself and saved in the same folder. The individual files can be searched using the control-f command.
  17. I think something is wrong with the gun. Pull the barrel and check for cracks around the hood.
  18. I verified the problem with 1.2.30 without any easy solution. I have a Kindle running 1.2.26 and it does not have this problem. Send a note to support@practiscore.com Eugene will fix it.
  19. Another possibility to what may have happened. It has happened to me. While reloading and depriming the spent primer sticks on the depriming rod and gets reseated. I have also had some get wet and not go bang.
  20. I have been using a laptop to setup matches in Practiscore for awhile now. It syncs through wireless just fine. I can export the registration file to a USB flash drive then use another computer to print out backup sheets. My older Toshiba laptop I use an 8 G thumbdrive that I boot Android X86 then open Practiscore. It won't work on my newer Toshiba laptop. There are several tweaks that need to be done to make it work better. I can go through some of the details that need to be done if anyone is interested. I am working with my new Laptop with windoze 8.1 Just recently I have Practiscore working with sync. I have a Virtualbox VM running with Android X86 then Practiscore. There are some details I am still trying to work out. It looks promising.
  21. HI I use Practiscore at our Monthly matches. I had some trouble with practiscore and an earlier release 1.2.22 I think was the one It was the first that had built in stages for steel challenge stages. I modified the names and scored a match. There was a problem with the links overwriting each other and I lost all the scores We didn't have paper backup at that time. Now I start with the steel challenge blank setup. I too use different divisions but I do not modify the built in divisions. I add the new divisions with the names that I specify. I think that may be the problem with the divisions overwriting each other. There may be a problem with a space in the division as well, I don't know for sure. You should be using all the same build number. There was a Kindle specific problem with 1.2.26 that they needed to update it. I am actually working with the next release 1.2.28 We bought Nooks for scoring and scored the first match this past weekend. The only problem was a battery issue on one of the Nooks. That one is going back to the Seller. Send an email to support@practiscore.com They are very helpful.
  22. Android specific information. Importing registration from a CSV file more than once will result in mulitple entries for each shooter. Therefore if importing from a CSV file, only do it once with the same names.
  23. At our matches, the most common is a one or two second bonus to hit more difficult targets or like the old version of speed option, a two second bonus for the option plate and no one gets negative time yet.
  24. I just bought a 627 pro. It is a very good revolver. I have some experience with a 4 inch model 66. I have yet to chrono my normal loads in the pro. Bullseye is the best powder I have found for 38 special. WST is a good powder for a very specialized load. i use a Lee mold 150 round nose with 4 grains of bullseye crimped into the crimp groove of the bullet in 158 weight berry's bullet 3.8 grains of bullseye with a taper crimp. I just bought a Lyman mold 160 round nose with a crimp groove. I am hoping for some good accuracy with it.
  25. I bought some when the store had them instead of the standard primers. They do seem to give smaller groups with no downside except slightly higher cost.
