  1. Just got my 627PC back from Mike. Another wonderchild is born. Mike is truely professional. PS. you're going to regret this action job after Big Dawgs ha ha. Jess Christensen
  2. Well, my 230 gr. plated jump from an COAL of 1.240" to about 1.260" on that 6th. round. Even so, they never drop below 168 in the chrono test. At 1.240" they chrono 171-172. Guess I may use the bayou bullet more. It acts like lead when reloading, but performs like FMJ's out of my 625. Jess Christensen
  3. I like new things, but this concept won't sell. Maybe some collectors will buy it, but the gun is neither suitable for "this or that"
  4. Hi Guys, What amount of bullet jump do you guys get in your 625's 5", shooting major with either plated or FMJ's ? When shooting only 5 and measure OAL on the 6th. Jess
  5. Strong team, and I know they'll win. I agree 100% with Cliff ! Divisions should be supported over categories....what are they thinking. Political correctnes wins I guess. Going to Europe ain't cheap, last time(2008) I went there to shoot $3000 was gone in a snap. My deepest respect for Doug's support. Atta' boy. Jess Christensen
  6. Yes, I may not be going either

  7. Hi Guys, Looks like Pro-Am will move from USSA in Tulsa to Frostproof in Florida. Just thought you should know. Jess Christensen
  8. Thanks for the info Doug, Love to try out that match, just the type of steel setup I like. But oh'e man what a drive. Anyway, see you at your match at least. S.... that Big Dawgs Steel leads to addiction...am I wrong here ha ha. Take care Doug, Jess
  9. Looks like a great match. What kind of prizes can you win ? How many competitors show up ? Is shipping ammo to the range OK ? Thanks, Jess Christensen
  10. Hi Leam, How are you. Look, first you need to keep it simple, and break down whatever problem you have. First off, never mix how mechanics work with the ability to shoot well. Test your gun by the book first. If you're a bad shot, let someone else test it for you. Let's say your gun will make 2" groups at 25 yfs. with quality ammo. Then thats the end of that problem. Then sight it in. Your front sight may be too high, or the rear not the original etc. Scattered grouping on a target is most likely one of the following reasons. Holding the gun using wrong technique, working the trigger wrong or too fast. Remember the front sight is also your accelerator. You simply can't hit well if you can't see exactly what and where you're shooting at. In 9 out of 10 times when folks have poor performance, it's related wrong grip/trigger technique, and visiual impatience. The main difference between action vs. precision (IPSC/Bianchi) shooting using wrong grip technique, is that your shot cadence in action will be slower and inconsistent, but in Bianchi your grouping will open up and look like a shot gun pattern. Save youself time, and talk to some known hot shot shooter friends at the range, they can show and tell you why in 5 min. Jess
  11. Well, not so fast ! Yes I enjoy shooting more than thinking about the mechanics behind it. But in some ways, knowing the mechanics behind it, will also make you a better shooter...right ! Put it this way...if the bullet and gun had the same weight, they would move away from one another with the same speed. Since the gun weights more than the bullet, the gun recoils with a force that is calculated different than the FPS for the bullet. Even though the bullet spends very little time in the barrel, the amount of gripping strenght/technique still plays a major role on where the bullet will hit the target. Theori is nice, but i stick to the facts.
  12. Yes I think so ! It's nice to be able to make up shots when needed, especially at the end of a stage, where you can't reload on the move anyways. It's better to have extra rounds and not need them, than need them and not have them.
  13. How well does Solo 1000 meter with Dillon or Lee powder measure ? How come we never hear about Titewad powder ???? Anyone!
  14. Thanks Anachronism, However, I spoke with a lot of other revolver IPSC shooters using 625's, and they told me not to use a roll crimp on plated bullets which doesn't have any crimp groove, since the plated jacket could seperate from the bullet and get stuck in the bore. What a shame no one makes a RN 45 Colt plated bullet w/crimp groove. My fear is always, that one day a bullet will jump out and block the cylinder from turning. Try to never use any bullets from the clip, if I only shoot 4 or 5 rds. on a stage. I save them for practice later. One weird thing though, is that it don't seem to affect accuracy. I can't be the only one with this problem ??? Or maybe I should just go back to the green Bayoubullet, which act like lead bullets, but without smoke etc. Thanks for any further suggestions guys. Jess Christensen
  15. Hi Guys, Got a question about S&W 625 and how much crimp needed to limit bullet jump. Been reloading for many years, and know a lot of factors comes into play here. I know all centerfire cartridges have some jump in healthy calibers, but when I shoot major in IPSC with 230 plated bullets, they jump as much as 20/1000 forward. I tried pretty much every combination possible in relation to crimp, bullet/die brand, and getting a little frustrated over this problem. Whats the soloution ??? Jess Christensen
  16. And a happy new year to all you revolver freaks ! Really want to thanks Sam for a great job putting on this great match. Oh'e boy master class now, guess I have to really use my front sight now, if grand master is my next goal. Just a note about prize distribution. This is a two way street in many ways. Understand not everyone can be winners, so this feat can be done a couple of different ways. A commen way would be 1st.GM, 1st. Master, 1st.A etc. followed by 2nd.GM etc. or just in order of finish. Whats fair ? Using the first model, a D class shooter can get a better prize, than the person who places 2nd. Master. Another popular prize give away, is simply just paying out cash to 1,2,and 3 in classes, and let the rest walk the prize table. In the end, I don't think there's any perfect way which will please everybody. My thinking goes, that not everyone should feel like winners...why have a sporting event in the first place then. The best shooters win for a reason. They put more time, effort, practice and money into the sport. If they are not honered that way, then everyone become "winners" like some kind of "no kid left behind program". I must admit, that it sticks in my eye when I see someone taking high D class, and go home with a prize twice the value than 2nd. A class. Just being honest here, not trying to tell anyone what to do, but it's still my opinion...and you know how that works ha ha. Jess Christensen
  17. Hi guys, How many showed up last year ? Is it possible to shoot 2-3-4 divisions. Is it cash payback throughout the divisions. Do they honor HOA in limited revolver or is it combined with open revo. Thanks Jess
  18. Hi again, Just so I get this right...6 shots only w/clips is a seperate division in limited. Would it be possible to win HOA in 6 shot division with a 625 + limted division in the same match ?
  19. Hi guys, and merry christmas to all. Havn't been here a while. By the way, what happen to 6-shot division (625 w/clips). See you at the IRC in 2011. Dang ! I've been missing it for a long time. Jess Christensen DEN 163
