  1. Rhino I was shooting with the Doctor and your greased lightning cousins. I felt like the gray headed stepchild all day. The Indiana State is coming and you will be on that same squad with me. So we will have to step it up before then. DRY FIRE till you bleed brother cause that is what I am going to do. MIKE............
  2. I finished last year on a roll. I started the new year with way to many expectations. I shot a double match this weekend. Struggled all day and came to the last stage frustrated and thinking about the 3 hour drive home. I burnt it down. I don't recall a single thing other than my front sight. Total brain shut down from the buzzer to show clear. It was empty headed shooting at my personal best. There are so many things to be learned on this board. But the mind set or lack there of seems to be one of the universal truths. I hope to leave my brain in the range bag from now on.
  3. I have to agree with Spook. I have been shooting 1 1/2 years. I shot a single stack 45 for about a year. I shot the surrounding state matches and Area 5. This sport is the most addictive activity I have ever encountered. The key is to shoot as much as you can. Not what you are shooting. And don't forget to learn from your fellow shooters. I had my limited gun built this year. It will not make me a better shooter but the skills I learned shooting and competing will. Shoot safe and shoot straight.
  4. Happy Birthday James. I am always late in sending any kind of card. So I will bring you a cold one this weekend. You might want to see me early. Larry can smell beer at over a mile. MIKE...............
  5. And I missed it. I was on the same range only meters away from this history making event. How I envy you Dave. You are a part of a legend. The start of Joey's run to the ever elusive B card. But does he have enough purple shirts to keep the Purple Comet covered? My wife will be joining me at a couple of matches this year. And the thought of a shirtless Purple Comet and the effect on her makes me worry that I might lose her to the Passionate Plum. I mean the Purple Comet....
  6. I seen it, but I am not sure I want to believe it. If anyone wants proof that smooth is fast. Here it is. I had to show my wife this clip. Now she understands why I'm bouncing mags off the sofa every night. Thanks for the chance to see a master at work.
  7. I am in the same boat with kdj. I finish every stage in the top 5. Classifier somewhere around 10th. The sandbagger thing is starting to haunt me. I know I am a B shooter but I can't put a decent classifier together to save my soul. But I think the system works. The mental aspect of the additional pressure during a classifier is what seperates the B's from the C's. I will adapt and overcome.
  8. AGlock, This will be my second full year of USPSA. The best advice I can give is shoot as many matches as you can. And relax. You cannot make a mistake that some one has not made before. Some of the finest people on the planet are involved in this sport. Watch and listen. When the other guys are talking about what went wrong or what went right. You will pick up jewels of knowledge. If the bug bites you as hard as it has bitten me. You will make the time for practice. And soon be bouncing mags of the sofa. As you dry fire at the TV during the evening news. Be safe and enjoy the journey.
  9. My wife is also talking about joining me in competion. She went with me to some of the State matches and she really enjoyed the people. Her reasoning is that we would have more time together. I am blessed to have a home range that is populated with great folks. I know that my wife would be made comfortable and relaxed. But in my home range shooting family there is a fellow whose wife is now beating him on a regular basis. That does dampen my excitement a little. I think that we all should ask our POOSSLQ's. (People Of Opposite Sex Sharing Living Quarters) To come share the fun and competion. It sure makes for better language on the range. And the scenery ain't bad either....

    Tool Time

I would say that this is a partial list of the tools that my son has lost, borrowed or left in the yard. Over the 26 years of his life. Or what my wife stacked on my reloading bench. After digging in my tool box looking for a screw driver that fit the loose screw on her favorite pan. Can I get an AMEN.
  11. I think you both had better do more than hope. Cause the Range Babe is shooting better every match. But a very happy birthday to our very own D-Lo. One of the of the best reasons to pursue this sport is the people you meet. D-Lo and the Range Babe are some of the best. Even if he does re-write every stage I ever gave him. See ya, MIKE..........
  12. I am really sorry I missed the match. I would have gladly taken my lumps to get a shot at Joey. I think an air soft pistol would be a great help to while away the upcoming snow days. Does anyone have a preferece as to manufacturer etc. And an idea where they can be purchased. Mike.....
  13. I love the competition. Not against the other shooters but against myself. It makes me see my faults and learn to correct them. And expand on my strengths. And besides. Since my wife gained weight and my back went bad. It is the most fun I can have standing up. Hey someone had the first to say it. m.e.t.
  14. Rhino, So you and Tom have been practicing. Is that fair? I was just trying way to hard to run with the big dogs. 50 points with a mike and a no-shoot at 8.04. I think they will want my C card back. Not the way I wanted to end my day. MIKE..........
  15. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this board. I started shooting about 18 months ago. And just switched from production to limited 10 about 2 months ago. Low and behold I won high C at both the Kentucky and Illinois state championships. I know that switching to a 1911 helped. But the real difference was the mental help I received here. I shoot so relaxed and everything just seems to happen. Kind of wierd the first time it happened. Well I have had my share of patting my own back. Thanks again. m.e.t.
  16. I know the feeling. I went to Area 5. And I spent the whole day with my head so far up my ---. Well you all know where. I was dead last on stage after stage. I had to have that match. It really helped me relax and just do what I have to do. Nerves kill. Just think about your failures long enough to get a good grasp on what you did wrong. Then let them go. I figure you will come back and beat the guys who beat you. But, not to soon though. I think I'm shooting against you this weekend. m.e.t.
  17. Hey Tom, Sure wish you could have made the Kentucky match. You missed a good day. And the sight of Rhino in his camo spandex is something words cannot describe. And no camera could capture. As far as my lucky showing. No practice time for over a month. Just right day and right bunch of folks to shoot with. See Ya, Mike
  18. Rhino, You might have struggled just a bit. But the Hoosier match is wide open to your deadly skill. Indiana beware. The Rhino is thirsty for revenge.
  19. In the last month or so I have really started to move forward. I credit two things for this. I did not shoot a match for a month. And I read a post from Flexmoney. His signature started me just shooting at my speed. And suddenly my speed was better. I was fast enough. And the month off let the match jitters fade away. Went back relaxed and with fewer expectations. Thanks Flexmoney. Simple words. Great answer.
  20. Sneaky???? Lucky yes. But, I am not smart enough to be sneaky. Just goes to show you that even a blind hog can find an acorn every once in awhile. Hey Prez. How about you give everyone a official invite to shoot with us at WVPPS.
  21. I have slim grips on my single stack. Add to that the paddle shaped mag release from Wilson. I have heard the mag release has been discontinued but you can still find it at Brownell's. Made a big difference to my stubby fingers.
  22. Hey Joey, Is this Armscor brass new. I have seen the ads and have considered trying it out. My collection of range brass is starting to recyle itself back to mother earth. So I need to break down and purchase some 45 ACP brass. Any suggestions? Thanks m.e.t.
