  1. Great range time this morning - 300 rds fired through the Steelmaster. Two Stovepipes in first mag, perfect function rest of session (3 140 & 1 170 STI mags). 250 rds 124gr RN, 50 rds 115gr, the pistol feels a bit snappier w the 124s, seemed slightly "lazy" w the 115s. Shoots FLAT and fast. This was first time out, but I am really glad I went for this gun !!!
  2. UPS delivered the Steelmaster today, also got STI mags from Shooters Conn, and a DAA STI holster block fm Midway. Going to the range tomorrow morning !!!
  3. Installed (5) TTI pads & springs on new M&P mags in March. 5 matches and numerous practice sessions w a CORE and a Pro with zero malfunctions. Only wipe off dropped mags, all have performed 100%.
  4. Ditto - best belt I've ever used. !!!
  5. Just got a new one from Midway - 40" waist, ordered 42 belt and it's perfect. About 7-8" overlap.
  6. It's possible the red dot ads few ounces, but Apex immediately suggested ditching the 15 for a 17 when I asked them about the light strikes and stovepipe. Bottom line is the pistol has run 100% through almost 1000 rds since I went w the 17lb spring.
  7. I ordered a Steelmaster from Shooters Connection on Monday, should be here tomorrow and I'm off Friday to head to range ! Have been shooting IPSC since 1973 and shot in as many matches as possible throughout the eighties and early nineties. Laid off for a few years and back to USPSA in 2000-2003. Then I "quit" again until this past March. At first, went the cheap route and put together an M&P CORE w red dot, which was OK but after 3-4 matches shooting with my old buddies from years ago (we're all "super seniors" these days !) I decided I "needed" the Steelmaster, so I'll sell the M&P and shoot the STI (9mm minor) with factory ammo in our monthly USPSA, steel and proam matches. Looking forward to it, can't wait to burn through a thousand rounds of Freedom Munitions 9mm this weekend. !!!
  8. Quadraport made noticeable diff. They suggest 45% recoil reduction and I would agree w that. Have only used factory 124 & 115gr ammo - not much difference between those two rounds (mostly PMC, Win white box, American Eagle). After installing 17lb ISMI spring (tungsten GR) pistol is 100% reliable w all above ammo. Did have few light strikes and 2 stove pipes w a 15lb spring.
  9. My Nordic spring was trimmed about 10", added the 1-1/2" extension w same spring and function is 100%
  10. I'm very close to buying a Steelmaster, spoke w STI tech support this afternoon - FWIW, they said the Steelmaster was designed around factory 124gr FMJ ammo .............. It would seem 115gr would be more popular and more available, and 95gr hand loads would be best if the comp isn't effective. Can a guy buy 9mm 95gr loaded ammo from any source (Atlanta Arms) ???

As a "super senior", a red dot is a MUST !!!
  12. Very nice pistol. I've been shooting a 9mm CORE - Deltapoint, FSS alum trigger and Quadraport. It is fun and was in the $1500 range, BUT I still want for a 2011 ................
  13. Have Taccoms that work OK, but Invictus on order and looking forward to them
  14. A few locals have a backup AR w a red dot - if a match has ALL stages w close in rifle targets, they have the red dot as an option.
  15. This looks like a "must have" - THANKS for the info !!!
  16. All four of my M&P mags w TTI bases hold 22 9mm. May increase to 23 after the springs compress a bit after some use ???
  17. Our last monthly match had 6 stages, all classifiers. Club offered to allow shooters to run all stages again in a different class but I think no one accepted and everyone went home after the 6 stages were completed.
  18. When I decided to come back after a decade long layoff, received great advice to start up with little hassle shooting steel challenge with a .22. Naturally I ignored the wisdom and went straight to 3 gun !!! Still trying to get things together after 2 months of scrambling ................
  19. Ditto, generally early Sunday evening if we tearodwn and leave range by 3:00
  20. Another 930 that runs with zero problems. No failures in approx 1000 rds fired. Small prob w dummy rounds hanging in tube when practicing load 2s, but never an issue in live fire.
