  1. I just bought a 650 from Brian also and can't believe how much I like reloading on it compared to my old press. It is an amazing machine.
  2. Toys for Tots is a great charity. I really like all of the Nerf guns in the cart. Start them early.
  3. I would go with the MP. I like the idea of the same trigger pull on each shot.
  4. I also prefer to stand while I'm reloading. My bench is 39" at the top. As long as you have room to move around you can have multiple machines on one bench. For loading on the 1050 I would make sure my bench is secure. The bench my 650 is on I attached it to the concrete wall and floor in my basement. You will also want to make sure your 1050's casefeeder is secure. Take some L brackets and secure them to the case feeder arm then mount it to the wall. The 1050 also produces a lot of torque and can flex the shell plate during reloading, my buddy mounted his to a piece of 1/4" steel to prevent this from happening. Hope this help the 1050 is an awesome machine once you secure it and get it running.
  5. I don't own an XD but one of my shooting buddies shot one last year in production and he had cannon creek do a trigger job and grip stippling on his. It was the best production trigger I had ever shot.
  6. I like the set up you proposed at the start. I especially like the black front. I do not like a fiber optic. I have a similar set up on my SS
  7. To me it sounds like it might be the shooting combined with something else. I have slept on my shoulder wrong before and not been able to lift my arm the next day. It also sounds like it might be tendinitis. If it's not better in a day or so get it looked at, you may just need an anti inflammatory.
  8. Corey are the followers you use the one listed as L-HYB-45 on the Tripp Research Site? I just want to make sure I'm looking at the correct followers.
  9. I just received an email from Nick Noble who is the CEO of Parks Mammoth and Rock Castle Shooting Center. According to him there will be monthly USPSA matches starting the 4th Saturday in February. Rock Castle Shooting center is located in Park City, KY. If you've never seen there facility it will be a great place to host matches.
  10. A six o'clock hold refers to your sight alignment on a target. The idea of this is your hold would be below the desired area you wish to hit. For instance if you were shooting a six inch plate you would hold at the bottom of the plate to hit it in the middle. Personally I don't use this method but my understanding is some people use it because it allows them to see where they are aiming instead of that area being covered up by the front sight. Hope this helps, I am by no means an expert but this is how the concept has been explained to me.
  11. All of the thing you mentioned come with time. Match experience is huge. It can take a long time to become good at breaking down stages. The biggest thing for me is knowing the shots I can and can't make. Some targets I'm confident in shooting on the move other I'm not so I shoot them standing still and then haul butt to the next position. A good way to practice shooting on the move is with dry fire. You have to get use to focusing on your front sight while moving. When engaging long range target you have to get a stable base and remain calm while the timer is running. Dont worry about shooting long shots fast make sure you are getting good hits. Hope this helps and keep on shooting.
  12. I can't wait for this match next year. I had a great time last year shooting production but this year Corey I'm changing to a real gun. Lol Looking forward to another great match. If anyone is on the fence about this match let me tell you the stages last year were great and the cost for the match couldn't be beat.
  13. I always focus on my first target and bring the gun up to my eyes. I have always been taught that after you make the shot shift your eyes to the next target and the gun will follow. Taran Butler said the same thing last week in Top Shot when talking about transitions.
  14. It's amazing what a little thing like grip pressure can do for your shooting. I have found that if my shooting begins to struggle that if I grip the gun my splits are faster and the perceived recoil is a lot less.
  15. Welcome to the forums. I've only shot small local 3 gun matches but they are loads of fun. I'm sure you will be hooked in no time
  16. I am a left handed shooter and have been shooting production for several years now, which means I have always hit the mag release on my gun with my trigger finger. I plan on having a gun built soon, (government model) my question is should I have my mag release switched to the other side or just stick to what I'm use to. I don't mind learning to hit the mag release with my thumb but is it faster and worth the time and money to have the gunsmith do it.

    mag release

I am a left handed shooter and want to know if I can get a mag release on the right side of my glock. I'm getting tired of releasing mags with my trigger finger. Thanks for the help.
  18. I'm not sure where to post this but I'm looking for a semi auto 20 gauge in a youth size. It is acually for my wife but she is only 5 feet tall. I am planning on taking her to shoot sporting clays but I don't want to pay the price for an over under. Thanks for the help.
  19. What size barrel are most common for a 3 Gun Rifle?
  20. I have just bought a new SLP Mark1, I've read everything I could find on the site regarding this gun but still have a few question. 1. I have only put about 25 rounds through the gun and ran into a few ejection problems, I was shooting 1 1/8 ounce shot. Some people say it's no problem some say it needs to be at least 1 1/4 ounce shot. What is everyone using and are they making any adjustments to shoot the lighter load? 2. What gas system are people using for shooting 3 gun since you may have to shoot bird shot as well as slugs? I'm wanting to have the gun perform no matter what shells I put in it, I know that may be a tall task. Just wondering what other were doing.
  21. What is the best way to learn trigger control? What type of practice is best for improving trigger control? Thanks for the help.
  22. If you could only take one pistol course for compitition shooting, who would you get to teach the course? Thanks for the help.
  23. I know the targets that I have seen are scaled down from original size. How does distance translate to shooting airsoft as compared to the real thing. If I'm shooting a USPSA stage at 10 yards how does that translate to shooting airsoft in my basement? Thanks for the help
  24. I have a Glock 35 is their a way I can buy a few parts and shoot 9mm ammo out of it? I am trying to avoid buying a Glock 34 although I'm not opposed to more guns I just don't have the extra money lying around. My hope is to have one gun that I can switch slides on and shoot 9mm in IDPA and .40 in USPSA. Thanks for the help.
