  1. Just out of curiosity I loaded five rounds with 6.8gr of Blue Dot with an OAL of 1.145. Average of five over the chrono was 1,113. High of 1,140 low of 1,092. This was from a Beretta 92 so I couldn't really get a feel for the primers. But the cases weren't bulged out around the feed ramp or anything. Interestingly, the Alliant website says max with a 147gr Gold Dot is 5.8gr while the Lyman manual shows 6.6gr max with a 147 JHP.
  2. Aha! The 5" barrel would explain your higher MV's. Just for curiosity I'm going to get a can of 3N38 to see if I can crank these 147's up near 1,100 fps or beyond as the VV data claims.
  3. Used 5.2gr of Silhouette with Speer nickeled brass and the new Berry's 147gr HHP bullet. Chrono'ed from 10 feet in a Ruger SR1911 Commander and a SIG P320. 991.3 AVG from the Ruger and 979.0 AVG from the SIG. Extreme spreads in the mid-20's.

    Ruger LC9

I have had the same problem but I don't think it is a mechanical problem with the pistol but a problem with the size and location of the mag release. In my case I'm hitting the mag release with my middle finger as it comes around under the trigger guard. A stronger spring would help. Also needed is a raised area to protect the mag from accidental release. Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk
  5. Looking for similar info but using a 147gr bullet. Does anyone have a suggested load to get 1,100ish FPS? I have Ramshot Silhouette and Winchester Auto Comp onhand. Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk
  6. Any photos of what Way of the Gun is offering?
  7. I see that Lone Wolf has a new slide called the "Alpha Wolf." I know it is probably too new but has anyone seen one yet? Same for the Voodoo line of top ends. New but decent?
  8. Mod 1 appears to do nice work but his backlog seems extensive. What about Wetwerks or Fire 4 Effect?

    FBI P320

I wonder if FBI is having any issues with the G19M. Didn't Indianapolis PD just send all their new G17M's back? Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk
  10. Yikes! Thanks for the feedback.
  11. ZEV certainly has some unique and interesting slide cuts. I'm not sure I want something quite so bold on my frame.
  12. I am looking to replace a slide on a G17/22 frame and would like some user feedback on the aftermarket offerings. Who has a Lone Wolf, IDP Tactical, ZEV, etc and what feedback can you give? Any parts fitment issues? Any problems with the little tab on the connector wearing a groove or gouge on the kickout in the slide? And, finally, does something like the ZEV offer anything over some of the cheaper options in the way of quality and function? Ideally this slide will be used in ESP and maybe limited minor. TIA!
  13. Any updates a year later? Has DPMS or Magpul changed anything for better compatibility?

  15. I finally made it out to a local club that was running an IDPA classifier. I used the American and some handloads that're right at minor. Even though I haven't been shooting much over the last couple of weeks I made Expert in SSP. This is my first time out in a "competitive" venue with the Ruger and it seemed to work well for me. It isn't perfect but I don't think it really handicapped me. It is a little bit different and I prefer the shape and feel of the M&P but the Ruger got the job done today without issues. Ruger's making a GP-100 Match Champion that would seem to be tailor made for IDPA and similar shooting sports. Maybe that means they'll eventually do something more with the American (trigger spring kit, fiber optic front sight, aggressively textured grip panels) to make it competitive in ESP.

  18. I have an American. I have about 400 rounds through it and have had zero issues with the gun rubbing my thumb. I have let a few other people shoot it too and nobody has made this complaint. I find the controls to be easy to use and logically placed. The trigger breaks relatively clean and is just a hair over six pounds. Trigger reset is maybe a little longer than it should be but a half hour of dry fire got me used to it. The gun is accurate and has so far proven itself to be reliable and I might play with it in IDPA SSP. If and when someone comes out with a trigger spring kit the gun should be as competitive as anything else I'd think. On the downside, the trigger guard is fairly small so the bottom of my finger rubs when working the trigger. Not necessarily an exclusive complaint to the Ruger. The HK P30 rubs me too and will wear a sore spot. Also, the mags seat very easily in the Ruger and eject cleanly but they also rattle a little when in the gun. Not really an issue for a competition gun but I can see how a police officer on patrol might not like that.
  19. Any updates? Any new owners of rifles and mags getting proper function without any modification? Adams Arms is coming out with a piston gun built on the new DPMS pattern and Remington Defense is supposed to have an R25 GII coming to market. Rumor is SIG is also revamping the 716 to use this new pattern. So either these rifles will have a different bolt stop or Magpul is going to have to make a design change...
  20. Ruger's got a brand new lightweight commander that they launched last week. Jeff Quinn has a pretty thorough (as per usual) review on his website. The gun is pretty much standard 4.25" technology with the exceptions being an integral plunger tube and a feed ramp that's made using a titanium insert. Price is likely to be in the mid-$700's but might taper off a bit once the newness wears off.
  21. There's a guy on arfcom saying his gun is working fine with new PMAG's. So what's been changed?
  22. Any updates that anyone's seen from Magpul and/or DPMS?
