  2. It is certainly a paradigm shift for Ruger. I hope they take whatever Doug can tell them to heart. The American is a prime example. Accurate and reliable but ergonomically a bit off. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  3. Well, if this is correct, he will be captain of the Ruger team. Surely a team means more than one guy shooting at Bianchi, no? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  4. Something I came across this morning while peeking at the various blogs. Not to say I'm terribly shocked since many other companies use competitive shooter as a PR tool. And Ruger seems to have slowly been moving in this direction with the Match Champion and Target 1911 stuff. I wonder what this means for the cataloged 1911 line. A hicap STI-style? What about a Redhawk in 9mm aka Smith and Wesson 929? http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2018/01/doug-koenig-leaves-smith-wesson-to-be-team-ruger-captain/ Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  5. I see the one mention here about mounting the device on the bottom of the magazine. How many of you guys have tried that and how many have had good or bad experiences? I'm interested for myself but also from a firearms instructor point of view. These might really help illustrate to a poor shooter exactly what he (or she) is doing that is otherwise completely masked by recoil, etc. If I could mount one of these to a magazine baseplate it should be easier to switch the device from one shooter to the next, etc as well as allow for holster use.
  6. Sure. For the right price. What do you plan to do with the gun if you buy one?

  8. I assume that, with an MSRP of $379, these guns will sell pretty well. With that said I wonder why Ruger chose to launch a midsize pistol in a new format. Wouldn't they have been better off with a true midsize version of the American? I thought the American was supposed to be their new duty/LE/military gun. I guess it isn't selling well so they're trying something different? Ruger does some handguns very well (1911’s and revolvers) but they seem to be kind of struggling to find a place in the polymer framed pistol market. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

  10. So where are you guys seeing published Viht data for 3N38 and lighter bullets? All I'm seeing on the website is 147gr data. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  11. 8.2gr 3N38 with 124gr Speer Gold Dot. Seated to 1.140" Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  12. I'm interested in this mainly from a conversational point of view. I recently bought a mix of pulled 9mm bullets from American Reloading. After sorting I have a good mix of 124gr JHP bullets to include XTP, Gold Dot and HST. I'm curious about these premium bullets in ballistic gel after they've been "stepped on" a bit. I don't necessarily need to make major but would like to be able to achieve velocities that are a bit higher than what's normally commercially available. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  13. Any recommendations for a 124gr JHP loaded to 1.145" OAL? 7.8gr or so as start? Also, where are you guys seeing published Viht data for 3N38 and lighter bullets? All I'm seeing on the website is 147gr data. TIA Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  14. Try adding a few drops of oil to the trigger parts and then shoot a couple hundred rounds. I imagine the trigger will smooth up a bit. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

  16. Part of the upgrade is the change from a trigger actuated disconnector to a slide actuated disconnector. Combined with lower mass trigger, striker and sear. These are supposed to make the gun quite a bit safer without really changing the feel of the gun from the shooter standpoint. The only real change is the loss of the double click. As I mentioned; when I attended 320 Armorer class the instructor said the original 320 was tested in accordance with SAAMI recommended drop tests. Later, when the gun was submitted to the Army, it was re-designed to pass a more rigorous military drop test. This is supposedly where the new parts came from. From what I recall the Army test is from the height of an Abrams tank. According to the instructor, SIG had always planned to roll the newer trigger parts over to the civilian side of the house at some point. Probably once existing stores of old parts had been used up. Then the Omaha Outdoors video came out and SIG was forced to change ahead of schedule. So why upgrade? There may not be any reason to since SIG seems to be holding fast to the claim that the 320 is SAAMI drop safe. Still, I figured most people will want the newer safer trigger parts. If I decide to sell or trade off my X5 for whatever reason it should have more value with the new trigger. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  17. As Jet posted, there is no external visible change. The double click is gone but the trigger is still five pounds just as it was before. It is now slightly gritty but I'm hoping that'll go away with some use.
  18. My X5 came back today. I ran 20 rounds through it. The trigger on mine is right at five pounds, just like before the upgrade, but it is a little grittier. Not bad just not as good as I remember. Also I think the reset is a little longer. Again, not bad but not like I remember. When I attended the 1-day P320 armorers class I asked about the upgrade and the difference between the civilian and military triggers. Our instructor said the 320 was originally built to pass SAAMI drop tests. The gun was later modified to pass a more rigorous military drop test and that's the design they're using now. SIG was planning on eventually going to the military parts across the product line eventually. This whole upgrade thing just sped up that decision. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  19. I have a shipped notice. My X5 is supposed to be back Monday. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  20. Mine's been there since Wednesday of last week. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  21. Someone on ar15.com is posting that they already have a return confirmation from SIG. His turnaround time was only a couple days. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  22. Interestingly my X5 is the only one I've received a tag for. Is Sig doing it by registration date or model type? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  23. Multiple pistols but so far only one label. I wonder if the guns are being returned by type/configuration. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  24. Internet rumor had mentioned that last Friday would be the launch date for call tags. I spoke to one of the reps Friday about the forthcoming tags. Bottom line is SIG isn't ready yet, logistics wise, to get all the guns back and get them out again in short order. So no news is good news? Hopefully they'll have it all figured out in another week or two. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
