  2. Another thing that would make a mr. Bullet feeder and Lee tube assembly the price point winner would be the ability to use the same tubes on multiple feed dies. The Lee tubes are supposed to work with 9mm, 40 and 45 by inserting or removing a set of inner tubes. These are included with the set. So the half a dozen tubes and die adapter, if it existed, would work with other calibers soley by buying a new drop die. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  3. Alright. I have now used the Bully Adapter and the Mini. The Mini wins. Not as a problem or fault with SoCal's skills or craftsmanship but based solely on the two bullet feeder dies. The Mr die is working fine now and I've loaded close to 2,000 rounds with it. As mentioned, the die works on gravity with the bullet stack pushing down on the bullet to be seated. This sort of pre-seats the bullet in the case. The only instance where I've tipped a bullet sideways as the press indexes is when the tubes are nearly empty. The Hornady die has a series of collets that controls the feed. This means there is no mass to pre-seat the bullet. The case mouth must be flared aggressively in order to get the bullet to set on top of the case. The Lee bullet tubes are cheap but work alright. I think an ideal solution (from a cost point) would be an adapter piece that allows the Mini feed die to be used with Lee tubes. The feed die is $50. The adapter would probably be $45. Lee tubes are $20. That would allow a person to buy the feeder parts and half a dozen tubes for about $200. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  4. I just timed myself to load 100 rounds. With the press ready to go but feed tubes empty it took me 12 minutes to fill tubes and load. Is that a time saver? Probably not much for a hundred but I bet it would be with another couple magazines. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  5. I've now loaded close to 800 rounds over the last two days and the Mini seems to work most excellent. Yes, it is a little slow to fill the magazine tubes but once they're full the press purrs along. Being able to keep one hand on the handle is where the advantage is. That and the fact that the MBF sets the bullet more or less perfectly every time. I say more or less because the bullets are sort of stamped down into the case when the tube above is full. As the mass is reduced, the stack doesn't deposit the bullet with as much force. I had a couple instances where a bullet would fall sideways with the motion of the shell plate. Adding a bit more flare to the case mouth would be an obvious solution. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  6. I loaded about 450 rounds using the Mini today. It worked just fine after I switched the BBs out. I'm not sure what was going on but, being how simple the mechanism is, wondered if an undersized BB might actually be getting stuck in the hole in the die body. Whatever the reason, switching BBs seems to have fixed it. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  7. Okay. I have received everything but the actual Bully Adapter. I ordered the Mini Mr Bullet Feeder from the man himself. The Lee bullet tubes and Hornady die came from Midway. The Hornady die took only a minute to adjust and install. Filling the die with different bullet weights seems to show that it is adjusted correctly. I haven't loaded with it yet since I'm still waiting for the adapter piece. The Mr Bullet Feeder die is quite a bit simpler. It doesn't have the two internal collets like the Hornady but rather uses ball bearings to stop the bullet. The Mini itself is a plastic tube assembly that is friction fit on top of the feeder die. I did load a few hundred rounds with the Mini and it doesn't seem to be working well. I have tried putting the ball bearing and clip in both the top and bottom positions and still the feeder will fail to feed a bullet probably five or six times every 100 or so bullets. The issue seems to be somewhat worse as the tube(s) get empty but that isn't the only time the system fails to feed. I tried a couple different lengths/weights and it occasionally failed to feed regardless. I'll fiddle with it some more today but, so far, I'm not overly impressed. I'm adjusting the feed die as shown on the Mr Bullet website.
  8. Just curious about both systems. If the Lee tube affair works okay I can buy extra sets for way less than a Mag P tube set. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  9. In an effort to answer my own question I have ordered both the Mini Bullet Feeder and the Socal adapter for Lee tubes and Hornady feed die. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  10. Asking about the magazine assembly as it slides over the die. So it stays put under its own weight? The internal piece inside the MBF die is free-floating. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  11. What, if anything, holds the tube assembly stationary and keeps it from rotating around with the motion of the press? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

    P320 X5 Thread

I recently read on another forum that there's now a problem with metal shavings coming off the new lightened strikers. Has anyone seen this? I don't have a ton of rounds fired through my "upgraded" 320 but it has been working fine. But it does have more "trigger slap" than it did prior to the upgrade. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

  15. I do not have a case feeder. So why would I buy a motorized MBF over the bullet feeder sold by Hornady? Also, with my limited work bench, I'm probably more interested in a motorized case feeder over a bullet feeder. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  16. I load in a garage with limited bench space. And the bench is not that close to an outlet. I don't feel like looping extension cords all over the place and don't want to mess with a battery. I've ordered the Mini and should have it Monday or Tuesday. Expecting good things.... Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  17. Why do you assume I'm only loading a hundred rounds at a time? I can buy additional magazines and load them up. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

  19. I see quite a few posts/reviews here for the Mr Bullet Feeder Mini but I wonder about a similar product. It is called the Bully Adapter. It uses a Hornady bullet feed die and a Lee bullet feed multi-tube. The adapter the mates the tubes to the die is about $40. The Lee and Hornady stuff would run another $40 or $50. Is the savings worth it? It looks to me like the biggest down side is that the Lee only has four bullet tubes. Another option is the Mag P also made by the same people. This has six tubes and can be bought to fit Hornady, RCBS or MBF dies. The Mag P is about $60 and the die is extra. So any reason to buy one or the other of these over the Mini? TIA! 20. Leave the mag well on and stick a 40 top end on and you have a Limited pistol for USPSA. That is if the available 140mm base pads will fit with the factory SIG well. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  21. Here's some info on the new team: https://ruger.com/news/2018-01-22.html
  22. I didn't see this previously mentioned so I figured I'd post the link. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSemkXSuIigLa1qwAmuQVH8AIZbQ-x0wG58fDkYIKM3vbzwhBA/viewform Ruger has a similar survey for IDPA. I haven't seen one for USPSA. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  23. I think Ruger would be smart to expand on/further develop the American as a modular concept. Look at the P320. Something like the X5 can be used in just about any division or sport. Want a Limited gun? Buy a 40 top end and get some extended base plates. Want a Production gun? Remove your mag well or swap on a standard grip module. Want a CCP gun? Pull the X5 chassis and put it into a 320 Compact frame/slide kit. One trigger to learn and get good with yet the ability to compete in a bunch of divisions. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  24. The RPR is quite unique in that it offers some good features and good accuracy at a price that's quite a bit better than most everything else it competes with. The PCC is pretty bland and is really just sort of a 10/22 revamped to shoot 9mm. The only reason anyone is paying any attention to it is because it can be configured to take Glock mags. In fact I think Ruger could have made everyone happy and just skipped the Ruger magazine interface. They should have just shipped the gun with the Glock adapter installed and sent out two Magpul mags. Sell the Ruger mag adapter as an accessory. Otherwise I think the Ruger ARs are solid. The new MPR should work well as an entry level 3gun rifle and I've generally had good luck with their piston guns. The 1911 line is also pretty solid and it wouldn't take much to make a USPSA/IDPA pistol based on what they already make. The Target would probably work fine with the addition of a mag well and fiber optic front sight. Revolvers are a slightly different story. The Match Champion appears to be a pretty good out of the box choice for IDPA. Ruger will probably need to make a Match Champion Redhawk in 9mm to expand into other venues. That shouldn't be too hard for them to do. This leaves Production and SSP/ESP. Does Ruger make a polymer frame handgun that's easily modified to work in these venues? The American is reliable and accurate enough but it is somewhat lacking in ergonomics and it might be quite expensive to make new frame molds for the gun. Some type of "professional" Security 9 might work if Ruger can tweak the trigger somewhat. Lastly we have Limited and Open. Possibly ESP depending on frame compatibility with 9, 40, 9 Major. Ruger already makes the frame castings for Caspian so they should be able to make a 1911 hicap on the Caspian format. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  25. I'm sure your answers are fine unless you flamed them in the comments. My comments were that the CDP needs to be a 1911 format because that's what CDP is all about. I also suggested they make a "match champion" 9mm Redhawk that takes moon clips and holds 9 rounds. Something that's not IDPA legal but competes with the S&W 929. Hopefully the results will be made public. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
