Anyone have these in stock? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  3. I know how that goes. You do the best with what you've got. That is all you can do. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  4. Lots of choices nowadays for inexpensive AR's I'd think. And with the market the way it is you'd think some of these companies would be eager to assist underfunded agencies. Or at least they should be. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  5. I have an SR762. It is an older original gun that came out right when Magpul changed to the new mag format. I like that gun. It shoots well. But it isn't as svelte as the DPMS. What we need is for Ruger to adapt over to the G2 pattern... Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  6. Your department buys and issues these to all officers or just those who don't choose to buy their own? I'd think in this day and age it would be pretty easy to dump one manufacturer for another if you have a high failure rate. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  7. Any updates a year later? If DPMS and Magpul can't play nice with each other who else is making a G2 pattern gun that works with Gen3 mags? Not that I'm necessarily in love with Gen3 mags but they're cheaper and easier to find than pretty much everything else out there. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  8. I'd also change mag capacity limit from 10 to something like 15 rounds. It wouldn't make any difference on standards stages and it wouldn't make a huge difference on most other stages either. Any stage requiring more than 16 rounds would still require a reload at some point. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  9. Set a trigger pull weight of something like 4 or more pounds as mandatory. Sights can be changed. No externally visible mods allowed. On a somewhat related note I just shot a fairly major match. Shooting rules were strictly enforced but there was no equipment check nor chrono and I believe there should have been. Rules are rules after all... Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  10. Would it? I assume Glock would still be preferred especially if the intent is to shoot SSP for awhile and then mod the gun for ESP. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  11. How would you disallow certain factory guns from being used? S&W VTAC and SIG Legion guns? Or would these be allowed in SSP as long as they don't have tungsten guide rods or some other mods that are specifically against the rules? What about more aggressive factory texturing? Maybe no fiber optic sights allowed? Not disagreeing with you as it would seem logical that SSP would be a stock gun division. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  12. It does not since the entire frame shell can be replaced without tools in about a minute. And at a cost of about $40. "Stippling and texturing may be performed on readily replaceable parts of the grip frame such as replaceable back straps and replaceable grip panels." Granted the 320 doesn't have back straps or grip panels but it is designed not to use these parts. Maybe the rule should have been written to say "only" rather than "such as." 13. Especially if the mods had previously been used/approved at other matches. I emailed HQ last week in search of a written answer one way or another. Still waiting.. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  14. Perhaps the fairest approach is to do away with tape and texturing all together for SSP. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  15. Too open to interpretation. I'll just shoot the gun as shipped from SIG. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  16. The current rules say that grip tape or texturing is allowed to grip panels or readily replaceable parts. I assume this means a S&W M&P backstrap can be taped or textured along sides and back. Similarly I'd bet that the HK P30 side and back panels can be modified. I can understand the reasoning behind trying to differentiate between SSP and ESP but I think IDPA will have to change the rules for SSP soon. SIG, Ruger and Beretta are all making modular frames that can be easily replaced. More will likely follow. And where does the SIG X frame module fit into all this? It has a pretty decent mag well right out of the box. Will it not be legal for SSP? Interesting times are ahead... Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  17. So why allow grip tape? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  18. That makes about zero sense. Thanks for the replies. I guess even without any sort of grip enhancer the 320 will be a good choice for SSP. At least the trigger seems to be quite workable right out of the box. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  19. Wow. That's helpful... Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  20. Oops. I posted this previously in the match travel section. Anyway, I'm curious about grip texturing on the SIG P320 and what may or may not be allowed in SSP. Is the grip module considered readily replaceable? If so does the texturing need to be confined to just the grip area or can the underside of the trigger guard be textured too? Thank you. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  21. Does anyone know if there's an official ruling on grip texturing on the SIG P320? Is the frame module considered a readily replaceable part? TIA Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  22. A nice summation of the changes. https://www.ssusa.org/articles/2017/3/6/new-look-for-idpa/ Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  23. Yep. Completely missed that part of the article. At the local clubs I usually finish near the top of the pack even though I rarely shoot a clean match. So I guess I was one of the shooters outrunning the old scoring system. I haven't shot under the new rules yet but will start shooting again next month. I don't plan on shooting any slower nor do I plan on wasting time with make-up shots. We'll see how the new scoring effects my strategy. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  24. So I missed it? Honestly I quickly tired of reading it and just skimmed over most of it. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  25. Anyone else receive the latest Tactical Journal? Bill Wilson writes a bit about why he thought the new rules were needed. But, unless I somehow missed it, he makes no mention of the scoring changes. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
