  1. All things being equal I would much rather shoot .45 acp MANLY pumpkin balls. But USPSA is a game and magazine capacity is paramount. Therefore the .40 has a huge advantage. So I own a .40 STI for my gun game fun :-)
  2. Moly is a lubricant on the bullets. Always good for the barrel I believe. You get a bullet out of the barrel a little faster and the rifling should last a little longer. That's my understanding anyway. Moly is fine for a bullet and a barrel but there are some health risks for the human animal I have heard.
  3. How much did that ram cost to replace in the Dillon press?
  4. When I start having odd feeding problems with my press I clean and lube it. When I am cleaning it I check everything and find where something is hanging it up. A little powder and dirt seem to come from nowhere and gunk it up after a while. Cheers
  5. Hi guys, I am trying to find out what a Barsto Custom .40 Model BS40 (STI frame) is worth. I bought it new and I never fired it. Bar-sto has them $2475 on their website. What do you think it's worth? I have pictures but they will not attach as they are too big If you would like a picture email me at amaziahcds@yahoo.com Thx, Charles

    OMG that was awful......awfully FUNNY
  9. Go for safety first and a smooth set of runs on your first match. This could be the start of a big addiction :-) Cheers
  10. I have removed live primers from a few cases and never had a problem with RCBS single stage presses and a manuel lee tool. Make sure you wear goggles. Surplus ammo usually has crimped in primers which would make it more difficult and higher pressure to remove. I would not recommend using a Dillon multistage press to remove live primers. Since you have so many to remove I would take the suggesting of firing them first. Good Luck
  11. The more trigger time you put in should make your shooting more accurate and faster regardless of the pistol used. The more matches entered the more fun you have! That's my philosophy anyway. Cheers
  12. I saw this one and the original with John Wayne. John Wayne played the role far better than the latest guy. Plus they shortened the movie. If they were going to remake this movie they should have been a little bit more creative I think. I was bored by the new movie.
  13. Now I'm drooling for a .22. I am addicted
  14. I am glad you had a great time. There are alot of nice people in the shooting sports. What class /gun were you in? How long have you been shooting?
  15. Are you just using the pistol for target practice or self defense? If it's for target usage I recommend getting several different weight springs and testing what weight you prefer and your gun likes with the ammo you are using. Are you going to do any reloading? If you reload you can use very light loads and a light spring for some money savings and low recoil practice. Do a search for springs and you should pull up alot of interesting info. There might be a sticky about springs here somewhere. Good luck
  16. It's great to have a new member. Welcome Scott
  17. I heard that the GB model and the AC223 were LEO from Ruger. Including 30 round mags, folding stock and flash hider while Bill Ruger was alive.
  18. I have heard that the mini 14 GB models made by Ruger were only sold to LEO officers and departments. Is this true? Does Ruger limit some civilian legal firearms to Gov't and LEO sales only? Then how did I buy a mini 14 GB Stainless factory folder then? Curious. Is my rifle a rarity or 1 of millions? Where do you guys go to online to find accurate gun values? How much would you say it's worth it is unfired? Thx
  19. Welcome to the forum. Gotta love Arizona. The forefront of personal and 2nd amendment rights! Jan Brewer for PREZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. The conversion kit lets you practice your 1911 skills cheaply. You are shooting your main pistol with the .22 conversion so you are getting practice with the same trigger, gun feel, sight picture etc......with "reduced loads." It's all good. With s .22 ruger mark 1 for example the feel is totally different i.e. trigger, weight, feel, sight picture etc... For getting practice with you "main" weapon the kit is great. I recommend any 1911 over the Beretta 96. I am biased I like the 1911 and would use a Beretta 96 as a boat anchor if they would just make it a few ounces heavier. I would also recomend any other 9mm like a glock over the 96. I greatly recommend any 1911 over a Beretta 96. I have owned many 1911/2011 pistols and 1 Beretta 96. I have been happy with all of the 1911/2011 pistols and not satisfied with the 96. I guess I am biased.
  21. Are you serious, there is someone in Texas without a gun. Say it isn't so........LOL Welcome to the forum. Get a good firearm and join us exercising the 2nd amendment rights. It's the second amendment that guards all of the other rights. Gun Control = Hitting What You Are Aiming At!
  22. Hey guys, My wife says if it doesn't shoot I need to get rid of it. I need to sell an SVI 2011 longblock kit. 5" .40 cal, long dust cover. I don't think SVI sells them anymore hence my problem getting and Idea what it's worth. What do you think an SVI longblock kit is worth? Kit has Frame, SVI plastic grip, .40 slide, misc small parts trigger, mag catch and other small parts. Thx
  23. I have heard that when you close one eye you lose about 15% of you visual acuety. Or you see more clearly with both eyes open.
  24. Great topic. I never thought about my breathing. I was totally focused on listening for the beep and what I was going to do when it went off.
