Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. When motor went out, I called Dillon and they said the upgrade was $95, then shipping back and forth, I would have the price of the 750, I went to several places around here including Graingers, no luck, lucky I had a spare 500, I guess the other one will be used for parts if needed, still hoping maybe I can find a motor for the dead one, it just wouldn't vibrate like it should, real real slow and then stop and start really slow. So I see the upgrade has gone up, I guess if this one goes out, I will buy the 750 if I still can't find any motors for this. All for now JD Trampas P.S. Hoping Eric will post where he got his, if I remember from a very long post before, he got it at Graingers which no longer carries this motor
  2. The light that SDM shows is the one I use for my 550, except I put it in the side hole of the press, then I take a rubber band and shape the flex part together so it shines just on station 3, it works real good for me, the hole is just right to fit the pen light in and it stays really good, haven't had any problems yet anyway, been using it that way for 6 months since my other light shucked out, it was bigger and fit into the groove of the press on left side in back then I fixed the flex part to shine on station 3, it worked but I like this set up better and easier to set up, just push in the pen light into the hole and go, the rubber band stays all the time on the flex part. 3. I believe the motor they will sell you is for CV 750, I believe that is totally different than the CV 500, when you send in a CV 500 to get repaired, they put in the base of the CV 750 with that motor, a complete change over so to speak, and they quote you the price of $98, that is why I chose not to do it. It wasn't worth it to me with shipping there and there price to repair. Now the CV 500 motor if I could find one is around $30 here in this neck of the woods if I could find one, which I can't, hope this explains this to you Steve RA All for now JD Trampas
  4. My motor went out on my CV 500, called Dillon up, told me what the price would be, upgraded to the newer motor, with shipping to them and the upgrade, it was cheaper to buy another tumbler. I have a local Graingers and went there to maybe get another motor, no luck, went to different places with still no luck. I had a spare CV 500 in a box, dug it out and using it now, hopefully it will last as long as the first one, which by the way lasted 5 years. Oh by the way, when I told the guy from Dillon it would be cheaper to buy another tumbler, he agreed, since I would have shipping to them and the upgrade was going to cost me $98 All for now JD Trampas P.S. I still have the old tumbler, still looking for a motor, LOL
  5. Yup, when they say no BS, they mean it, I bought another 550 used, the powder measure didn't work right, called Dillon, they gave me the RMA number, shipped the powder measure off, came back all rebuilt with the list of parts they put in, NO CHARGE at all. I now have 3 550's and their service has been excellent, now granted only have used it for the powder measure, did call them on the tumbler for a motor, the guy I talked to said what it would cost to rebuild it to the 750 specs, I said I could buy a new one for a few dollars more, that is what he said also, most will buy a new one, the 500 was going to cost around $98 to rebuild and upgrade plus the shipping there. Lucky I had another 500 laying in a box brand new that I bought as a spare, tried finding a motor for the one that went south, no luck here, I checked every where for motors for the 500, no luck, even Grainger's couldn't get one for me. 6. Go with the strong mount, bullet tray and cartridge bin and roller handle, I bit the bullet and did it for 3 machines, my bench is a solid wooden door sitting on 2 kitchen cabinets, all screwed to the floor and wall, I have a bar stool that I basically lean against, or at least one cheek so I'm not really standing on the concrete floor. I know if is more than you want to spend right now, but in the long run you will like it and appreciate it, I do mine anyway All for now JD Trampas
  7. I use one shot, now I have the carbide dies, dillon of course in the 3 550's I have, all straight wall cases that I load, but I find it easier on my arm and shoulder and the press doesn't work as hard either so that is why I use one shot, easier on body and press All for now JD Trampas
  8. As others has said, clean and dry, I have 3 550's and they worked just great, and as Brian said, listen to his notes, works great All for now JD Trampas
  9. Load up a few and try them, I think you will not notice much difference, if misfires then you know what you have to do, but I think you will get along just fine All for now JD Trampas
  10. When I started re-loading, everyone said get a single stage, I decided on the 550B, the reason why, I could run it as a single stage until I got used to re-loading, did that for a month, wow, a long month but learned enough how the press worked, then went all out as a progressive, have never looked back and was happy with the outcome, since then have added 2 more 550's. All for now JD Trampas
  11. Glad you got it fixed, have never had any trouble with my 550 in 5 years of re-loading, and I have never cleaned the decapping pin. All for now JD Trampas
  12. Yes I have checked it with weights, right on, I also got the new one out and double checked it, spot on, so guess I was very lucky on the scale dropping to the concrete floor, and I agree that Dillon more than likely don't make it, but it has been a very good scale for me All for now JD Trampas
  13. Sorry to hear this, I guess at one time or the other we all have bad days, but one thing, dillon does good customer service, can't go wrong with the blue All for now JD Trampas
  14. Well, I have the dillon electronic scale and very happy with it, it passed the drop test, let me explain, last year when I did a reloading session and when done I was cleaning up and putting stuff away, I have the scale on a stand beside the loading table, well I unplugged the scale and picked it up to put away and the cord get caught on the cornor of the stand and pulled it out of my hands, the scale was chest high to me and fell to the floor, it fell apart, oh boy, was I cussing up a storm for being so careless, picked it up off the floor and put it back together thinking here comes a new scale, well, I was quite surprised, it still worked and talk about a happy man, I did buy another electronic scale, dillon of course, just did this in case it happens again, which I hope it doesn't, but things happen. So when I put it away I called dillon up and told them that their scale passed the drop test to a concrete floor, the man I talked to said maybe I should go buy a lotto ticket, LOL Dillon all the way All for now JD Trampas
  15. Our cowboy club just got a Texas star for matches, haven't used it yet in matches, just practicing after the match, they are tricky to say the least and a whole bunch of fun to shoot. I shoot one handed (duelist) in cowboy matches, shooting the star wasn't very good shooting one handed, tried 2 handed and was very happy with the outcome. All for now JD Trampas
