  1. Please tell me who has them because I spent considerable time calling vendors looking for one. And yes, I called EGW too. Ends up I'm borrowing one from my area coordinator, but still would like to own one.....
  2. Figured I'd report back with the progress and developments with my Craig mag. I did as Bucky suggested: polished the feed lips, fit the Dawson basepad, fit the mag to the gauge, I even played with the feed lip gap. I was not able to get the mag to work, at all. I tried both the Craig follower and Caspian black followers. The rim of the Supercomp brass was getting caught of the back of the feed lips, and subsequently causing the bullet to nosedive into the feedramp. I took the mag apart numerous times trying every imaginable combo of spring and follower all to no avail. Then, by pure luck, or perhaps stupidity, I put my cut-down black Caspian follower is backwards, yep, that's right, backwards (the front is in the back and the back is in the front) and viola the mag runs 100% of the time I was blown away. So I stuck with that follower (in backwards) with the Wolff spring, which together hold 28 rounds. I've thought about cutting the spring and/or follower down to go for 29 rounds, but I'm so tickled that the mag is working at all that I'm hesitant to touch anything. Last weekend I used the mag through most of the whole Fredericksburg, VA match without a hitch. Thanks again Bucky, I would have never attempted this had it not been for your advice. BTW, with the follower in backwards I had to carve away a good portion of the follower to ensure the slide stop wasn't tripped with one round left in the mag.
  3. Steve, That is unfreakin' believable! I bet TGO would have a hard time doing that....
  4. Anyone have any experience with Caspian's conversion kit to run singlestack magazines in hi-caps? You can view it here by clicking on "Other Accessories High Capacity" on the left, and then scrolling down to the very bottom of the page. I shoot singlestacks and Caspian's hi-caps and recently ordered a Marvel 22 kit for singelstacks. I was going to modify Marvel Para or S_I mags to work in the Caspian, but instead my shooting buddy had the awesome idea to instead use the above Caspian conversion kit with the singlestack Marvel mags I already have; sure would be a lot cheaper.
  5. Could he move it over here...close to Columbus/Zanesville, Ohio??? We're not gonna share him He's staying local, moving, I think he said, 20 miles away from where is old shop is/was.
  6. Sweet Ron! Is this shooting Limited???
  7. I was told by a reputable gunsmith (if you do a search you'll know who I use) that Clark's barrels are a bit on the soft side. Sorry Renee
  8. I was going to recommend the Accuracy Speaks unit too, but they're temporarily shutdown. Read this notice: http://www.accuracyspeaks.com/
  9. I am surprised to hear of so many who don't like checkering on the underside of the trigger guard, but your reasoning is sound. I LOVE it to be checkering, helps me lock everything in nice and tight.
  10. Interesting thread we have here, I had to look to see how I did it. My WH moves instantly, but not as a mirror image of my SH, instead my WH moved just shy of where it will meet the pistol. I'll have to try what you're saying Duane, I can use a few tenths off of my draw. As I recall Brian spoke about this too, saying that some shooters, like Rob, could effectively move the WH instantly to where it will meet the pistol and others, himself, had to have the hands moving as a mirror image of each other.
  11. Bucky, I e-mailed you awhile back to figure out exactly which basepad to use, especially now that the mag gauge is 171.5mm. You're response was "Well, Dawson used to make a +1 specifically for the SV mag tubes in order for the tube to meet the 170mm. They no longer make them or have them in stock. They aren't needed since you can now use the standard STI / SV base +1 pad as the mag gauge is 171.5 mm. You might want to put a WTB ad out for one of them. If not, you can buy the standard STI +1 and a really good file." Again, I apologize for my ignorance, I am new to double stacks, so are you saying the "STI competition basepad for 140/170 mm mags" as seen in the link below will work? http://www.stiguns.com/cgi-bin/miva?Mercha...ory_Code=MAG-BP OR should I be going with the Dawson +1 basepad as shown here: http://shootersconnection.com/catalog/prod...products_id=108 Again, I appreciate the patience.
  12. SRT, Those dimensions should also work with the Craig 27 rounder, right? I have a Craig that constantly nosedives the bullet into the feedramp. Thanks!
  13. Three different color Caspian followers reside in my collection of magazines: orange, white & black. Is one design preferred and if so, why? Which is the original design as currently available through Caspian's website? I appreciate the patience with my questions.
  14. I was hangin' with a fellow Caspian shooter at the Fredericksburg, Virginia match a few weeks ago and he started expressing his love for the gun, yet his hate for the magazines. He felt the mags were the weak link, and required constant tuning. As a new Caspian shooter my curiousity was peaked, I only have approx 1200 rounds through mine, but have not had to tune mags. He proceeded to tell me how he constantly had to bend the feed lips to certain dimensions, one dimension at the front of the lips and another dimension at the rear; he couldn't recall the dimensions. Is this standard procedure? If so, can someone share the dimensions so I can be prepared to tweak? Thanks!
  15. I'll be there as a "green" open gun shooter, sent my application and money in this past week.
  16. To the best of my knowledge he is no longer a 'smith nor marketing gun products.
  17. Those are unbelievable reloads. He does it so fast, even in slow motion, it's hard to see if his index finger is indeed alongside the front of the mag.
  18. Leatham shot it on Saturday last year as I recall...
  19. I just happened to go to Rob's site just now, and guess what? It's up
  20. Steve, Now that your gun is tightened up, does it still work fine with a 7 lb recoil spring? FWIW EGW put 19 lb mainsprings in all of my 1911's, so that may affect your recoil spring weight.
