  1. STI Trojan. It has been great for me. I just went and gave the insides a good smoothing out to make the trigger a little better and put an S&A magwell and extended magazine release and I was running well. I also pitched the mag they gave me with the gun and went with 9mm 10 round cobra mags. The AFTEC extractor is a good choice to change out for good extraction.
  2. Rusty Kidd built mine and it was awesome would run on any thing you would feed it.
  3. A few of I know run it like this, Lone Wolf Barrel Magwell Base pads that are less than a .5 ounce from the stock weight (if I remember correctl)
  4. Have you tried this link http://www.alliantpowder.com/default.aspx
  5. Congrats!!! Who couldn't use a free Glock.
  6. Are there any good leads for extra magazines?
  7. What did he charge you for the work? That is very nice work and I have 2 STI single stacks that need that work done bad.
  8. Brownells has them for $4.44 a pop. They are in stock too. I agree and would call Smith & Wesson first. They may be able to help you out.
  9. Sorry got off track. All the housings are white. The 9mm/357sig/40S&W are the same striker assy and the spring weight too. I went and bout two extra whole assy for spares for a quick change out. The 45 acp is another animal from the recoil rod to the spring. I think that the back straps and sights are about the only thing that is the same.
  10. I agree about the ammo. We had one shooter shooting Federal American Eagle 9mm 147's and the case was torn and had rolled back tiny as hell but, the gun sure knew it. Cost him the stage. Then we had a Remington Green box 9mm 115's go way low on the chrono. That about cost him the ability to score for the match. Used to be with factory ammo all you had to do was fight the extra snap.
  11. Primers are around here but they have a 500 a day limit. That may help. The stores are showing some 9mm and 40S&W with any where from 2 to 6 box limits. This is for the Southern MD and Northern VA area.
  12. I have used alot of mags for years and the best I have found are Cobra Mags, Wilson and Chip Power Mags. Novaks do work but, I have found the other three to be of better quality. I use Cobra Mags now for my 9mm and 45 now. I don't know why a few very well known manufactures supply one with thier products but, I would say for the money when you go and get a few magazines you can not go wrong with the way the first three will back the products they make.
  13. Forgot to mention that Buds has a good deal on the M&P 40 right now. I also tried the Nevco magwell and base pads. The base pads are great and he is making some now that add a few rounds. The magwell works pretty good but, my magwell is making the mags stick in the gun like when the old Glock mags would stick and you had to wiggle for a 100% drop.
  14. Speed Shooter Specialties has about every thing you need. I am very impressed with my Burwell Rear sight and the SSS fiber front. Burwell trigger is another nice thing to have on your gun and the textured grips.
  15. Thank you all so much this is a huge help to the club.
  16. Our range is ready for our berms to mined out. We have about 50 years of bullets in some of the berms. I am very suprised we don't have hot spots from that alone but, they have been rebuilt many times so I guess that the spots are deep in the middle of the berm. I have know of people some people saying that you can get companies to come in and rebuild the berms and mine out the lead and actually give you a percentage of metal profits. Does anyone know of a company that does this? It doesn’t matter where in the country. I figure they will have a reference for a company in our area. Thanks!
  17. I was wondering about your CZ how are the quality of the magazines. I was not impressed with the newer magazines and I went and bought some direct from CZ and they were no better. I guess they changed the manufacturer in the 90's.

USP40 and USP9 are the most common I have seen in IDPA or USPSA matches. I used to shoot my USP45 in L10 but, I was riding the saftey/decocker and decocked the gun way too often. I can say that they work well and are very accurate. Run what you have it just may work well for you.
  19. That is some of the info I was looking for in the 40. I was thinking of bumping the recoil spring to a 13lb for production and a 15lb for major in limited if I start running in limited. I am thinking hard about that now with a +2 or better base pad it makes a good platform. I am wondering how the 45 would be too since the primer and bullet bite has me digging in to my 45 ammo stock.
  20. Most I here is an extractor replacement. I have an M&P 9L on the way there now with the same issue. From what I here and not seen that fixes the issue most of the time. Sounds like they did a great job for you. Let us know how it falls out.
  21. A few good mods are just replace the sights with fiber optic if you want and a do a trigger job. I was real happy with my gun stock. The Pro has a great trigger and comes with front fiber oiptic on it and a comp rear sight. I have sent my M&P's to Dan Burwell and with his trigger work and sight set up I don't think that I will do any thing else to mine. Dan does some outstanding work.
  22. Noticed I left some thing out of my post and it is too old to edit I guess. I am using a 125 zero JHP with 4.1 N320 and an OAL 1.130 with an ISMI 13 pound recoil spring on a stock guide rod in my M&P 9.
  23. Looks like I am there too. I have a M&P9L that just started this. It is one FTE every 25 to 50. I think that it started about 350 rounds ago. I have about 1500 rounds through this gun total. I was running white box and N320 with a 125 at about 135 power factor. No problems cycling the slide. I called Smith and I am going to have them fix it or see if they can. I called them today and they told me that a shipping label is on the way on them. Now my first M&P9 was doing this at first unless I ran Remington Green box and then after about a 1000 rounds I just went and tried reloads and other brands and it has worked flawless since. I will post and let you all know the diagnosis.
  24. My M&P9 has about 12000 rounds through it over two years of shooting and the only issue I ever had was in the first 200 rounds. I had a couple of FTE's. I think that could have been a simple break in or my extractor needed a drop of oil. I got in the habbit of putting a drop of very light oil on the extractor right before a match or range time. I can say I have never had any issues. Great gun.
  25. I have an M&P 9 and I did have a few FTE early on and that was with the first couple rounds. After that 200 rounds the issue went away and never came back. The other M&P40 I own never had an issue and ran like a top from day one. I have shot the M&P 9mm for about two years now and it is a great gun and reliable. I am very happy with every thing from Smith & Wesson customer service and quality of the M&P's.
