If IPSC rules work the same as say Production rules its pretty cut and dried. If SW didnt make a 6" 646 then you cant shoot one. How would you make a 686 barrel work anyway? Ream and re-rifle it to .401?

We pay 70 a year for a 40 yard wide 200 yd range, a 60 yd wide 100 range and a 60 yd 50/25 range thats gets mowed whe n they feel like it, usually the day after our match. But its all we got for at least 70 miles.

I have a stock .308 howa 1500 and I think its a very solid action. For stock availability and general easiness to get stuff for , you cant beat a 700 with a stick.

My load that I use in this gun consist of either a 180 zero or MG JHP over 4.6 TG with a WSP or 4.5 TG with a WSPM or WSR loaded to 1.180 OAL. I was using 4.7 TG and a WSP but I was making 177PF. Well the Ice is aluminum as well so if you have a steel MSH that will save some weight over that. I use a TI hammer strut and cap as well. That doesn't save much weight but every little bit adds up. The trophy match is flat topped so that will help also. If I need to dump some more weight the grips are probably pretty heavy and I could switch to wood but man those grips are sexy! Sorry I guess I missed the load data in your first post. Sounds like your guns setup is as sweet as it looks. Being able to have some nice composite grips was kinda high on my want list, its nice to know I can still make weight with all I want. Thanks again.

Thanks a lot for sharing. Im in the process of buying a 1911 in .40 one piece at a time. That will be the next division I try. The info about the mags is really helpful. What load are you using and to what oal? Is the alum. guide rod the only thing you changed to save weight? Thanks for any info!

I run a #14 wolff in my xdm .40 with anything from 145 pf minor loads to 171 pf factory loads. I have had ONE failure to eject in over 4k rounds run through this gun with this spring. I was surprised but it works great. No failure to go into battery at all.

Damn that sounds like a plan!!! What do you think I could win for low D in production? HaHa. Maybe Ill get lucky!

+1 on that the ONLY thing I hate worse than mowing is raking my neighbors leaves. Arghhhh!!!!

at our club we are limited as to what we can set up because we have tires for side berms. All our shots must go straight down range. For a long time all the club set up was a couple standards style courses with the classifier and then put everything together for a long run and gun stage. Now some of us newer guys are doing stage design and trying to make things more interesting so we have to use more props and do " run downrange " type stages. I love designing stages and wish i could go all out. But I gotta work with what i got.

Yea that sounds about right. Im gonna have to get a second job to pay for my new habit.Or maybe I just need to quit tryin to decide and just shoot DTC and then sell a kidney and do SCC!! Anyway thanks for the input. I hope to see some of you guys there.
