  1. Mr. Kelly, Great review (as always)... Quick Q.. what are your thoughts of the P30L compared to the CZ P-09 which you also reviewed? Just curious as I've owned P-09's and the feedback / comparison would be helpful. Thank you.
  2. You need to shoot .38 or larger plus you would have to make the higher power factor since you are running moon clips......
  3. I'll take a smooth gun over a light gun any day of the week........
  4. This makes me chuckle... I went from a GP100 Match Champion to a Smith & Wesson 686SSR... We live in a great age... there are so many good guns out there these days..... GP100 / 686 / 625 / etc... all are good choices. Find what you like and have fun. I used to shoot a Mike Carmoney tuned 625 JM in the old ESR division... I have some arthritis issues in my hands and sold my .45's and moved down to SSR with speedloader fed .38 revolvers..... I love it. With practice it doesn't take that much longer to load and its nice hot having to deal with the pain in my hands the next day. A good entry point would be a clean, used GP100, some speedloaders, etc and hit the ground running...... If you decide you want something else you can always sell a GP100....... tougher to sell a tricked out 625, etc....... Good luck and let us know what you decide.
  5. That's interesting.... mine is smoother than it was before the upgrade... no grit at all..... My second 320 arrived this afternoon and I haven't had a chance to open the box yet. I wonder if they need to be properly cleaned and lubed before use? Perhaps some gunk got in it when they were working on it?
  6. According to a couple of folks on the Sig forums they are reporting 48 hour turn around time.... Not sure if the initial batch was quick or if this is the ongoing trend but mine arrived at Sig last week Friday so I guess I'll know in a couple of days.....
  7. I sent in the serial numbers for both of my 320's.... Here is the note I received once I submitted everything: "You will receive an email from SIG SAUER at a later date that will include a prepaid shipping label and instructions to return your P320 pistol and any P320 caliber exchange kits that you have. It may take many weeks for you to receive this next communication, but we won’t forget about you (SIG will not begin the upgrade process for a few weeks as we prepare to make this upgrade). Once your P320 is shipped and received at SIG SAUER, the turnaround time will be approximately 4 – 6 weeks. This lengthy process is due to the high volume of pistols in the marketplace. Transit times may vary depending on your geographic location and receipt of your returned pistol. In the meantime, your SIG SAUER pistol is safe to carry and use as originally configured from the factory." At a minimum we could be looking at 2+ months before anyone get's their pistol back........
  8. I've owned and FNX9 and an FNP 45, both were very well made, accurate and reliable. However, aftermarket support is more than lacking. The inability to find holsters, sights etc convinced me to sell them and move on.
  9. A friend of mind just sent me a link from a holstermaker in the UP that is now offering laser engraving on magazines..... Seems like an interesting idea..... I use a Sharpie Paint Pen but I like the idea of not having to re-apply the numbers every couple of weeks. FYI I am in no way involved with this, a part of the company or in any way affiliated with the group offering this service.... just passing it along. http://adamsholsters.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=53&product_id=201
  10. There was an acknowledgment on the Facebook forum that the rules team needs to better of explaining this but yes, reload with retention / tac reloads are still allowed.
  11. I agree with you if you're talking about right now... But I think it's going to grow as shooters get older and optics get smaller / better.
  12. I agree... and they are doing a great job. (by the way, I agree that USPSA should change the name to "production optics")
  13. Good luck. Please report back and let us know what you thought of the match.
  14. Carry Optics is going to happen... It was a chance for IDPA to get out in front of something instead of leading from behind. It's a division that makes far more sense in IDPA than it does in USPSA....
  15. Bill Wilson wants this change and Bill Wilson is going to make this change. Nothing we can do about it (I know, it sucks... yes he should have asked for member input but the last time IDPA asked for member input we got CCP instead of carry opticts... be careful what you wish for). That said, if we really wanted to make things better we would petition for fault lines... sure would make the SO's job a LOT easier and help to eliminate a lot of judgement based issues.
  16. I'm editing my post...... I misread the original post and my response wasn't worth leaving up.
  17. It is my primary powder for 9mm reloading. It can push 124 or 147gr bullets with little smoke or residue. Great stuff.
  18. I'm only repeating what Ken told us.......
  19. I had a long talk with Ken Hackathorn about this at the NRA convention this summer. He said that Bill Wilson wanted the 1pt = 1 second penalty right from the beginning and they first tried 1/3 of a second per point then settled on 1/2 second per point.... Yes, they could have sent out a survey and asked for people to vote (like they did with CCP or carry optics) but Bill wanted this and Bill is going to get it. I don't think it's needed but in the end the guy with the gold makes the rules...... I agree with you 100% regarding the ever changing rule book! I don't have as much time to shoot as I used to and I've stopped SO'ing because I don't have the time to stay on top of all the rule changes.... That said, I'm told they are working hard to clarify the rule book and try to make it more streamlined.... we shall see. In the end, very few, if any, of us on this board make a living as a professional shooter so I don't think the changes are going to effect any of us too much one way or the other.....
  20. What if we truly don't care one way or the other?
  21. Seems great minds think alike. Mods, feel free to delete this thread.
  22. Count me as another who uses the Safariland loading plate with Comp 3's... I would contact Safariland.....
