  1. I don't have an answer, but the web page says previous winners can register in reserved slots up until midnight so I'm assume it opens at 12:01 Eastern Time. That'd be 11:01pm for me in AL.
  2. That is an approach that works for you and if someone showed up and wanted to use the full race rig I'd tell them their socore would not be recored since they would not be IAW the rules for NFC. If they were ok with that, no problem but if they want recorded scores they need to play by the rules such as they are.
  3. There was a fire at the ADI plant in Australia and the powder supply to the USA was hampered for this reason along with some other reasons. In 2013 production was disrupted and once that was solved, the drying facility had a fire (or as they put it, a "propellant burn event") that kept it shut down. ADI reported today (1/13/15) that they were back to full production. This impacted a number of Hodgdon flake powder (including the Clay products). It will be a while before these products make their way back into the distribution system. Link for those so inclined. http://www.adi-powders.com.au/handloaders/news.asp#item0
  4. Per the quoted rules - at least as I understand them - the only thing relaxed for NFC is the gun and mags. All other gear rules would apply. I would expect that some accommodation might be needed for gear to accommodate a pistol, like cutouts for optics or open moon clips if IDPA compliant clips are not available. But gear placement rules still apply regardless.
  5. Good feedback. We use Practiscore so it'll be a simple matter to add a NFC Divison so nobody gets bent out of shape ( I hope)
  6. Anyone running an NFC at there local matches? How's it working out? Any issues? The local IDPA turn out has been dropping while other pistol sports are growing. I'm going to open this up for the next few months and see if I can't get more crossover shooters. Rule: 8.2.7. Not For Competition 8.2.7.1. IDPA encourages shooters to practice their gun handling skills with commonly carried firearms. Many everyday carry firearms do not fit into the 5 competition divisions. 8.2.7.2. IDPA allows clubs to add a “Not for Competition” scoring division for Tier 1 matches only. This allows calibers smaller than 9mm, carry optics, and other pistols which do not fit into the 5 competition divisions to participate in local club matches. 8.2.7.3. All other IDPA equipment rules apply for holsters and loading device holders as well as their placement on the body. Match Directors also have the option to allow junior shooters with .22 rimfire firearms to begin strings at low ready in lieu of requiring a holster. 8.2.7.4. All IDPA membership rules apply. 8.2.7.5. Clubs are not required to implement this provision, and Match Directors are allowed discretion with implementation so that match quality remains high.
  7. Just pulled it down. Looks good!
  8. Recommend the APEX Failure Proof Extractor and Forward Set Sear. For Speed Steel that should be all you need.
  9. I've done it and know others that have as well when SPP's were not available. No real need to do it, gamer loads using proper powders are not that high of a pressure load.
  10. Do you own or ever use non-2011 40 cal guns? If so, you might want to figure out the longest length that will fee in the non-2011 guns and see if that works in your 2011. I have several 40 cals and try to not have ammon specific to just one gun if I can help it. So far the X-Treme RNFP loaded to factory length (~1.12") seem to work just fine, however molly coated tunicated cone lead bullets need to go out to ~1.15"-1.16" which still works in my M&P. COL at 1.18" wont fit M&P mags.
  11. I am dying to get some shooting in!!!!! When that shiny new blaster shows up it will be even worse!! Any suggestions for a load for this thing? I don't have a bullet chosen yet, but I do have Titegroup and e3 powder. The new dies should be showing up soon but I was also thinking about getting the Bludge buster push through die as well.... I would recommend 180gr bullets or even 200 or 220 grain but 180's are very common and relativly cost effective. I like the X-Treme plated but have used moly coated and bare lead (not tried any poly coated yet). The heavyeer bulltes will get you to PF with lower velocity which means lower muzzle energy and hence less felt recoil. For 40S&W I feel you need to do one of three things, a) use a Case Pro (very expensive to buy or it adds up to have brass processed), run it all though a bulge buster (cheap and not much time required), or c) case gauge every round and cull the failures out (a bit more time and a bunch of ammo that gets pulled out). I do "b".
  12. Did you replace the extractor? Still having problems?
  13. Melonite is a better solution, better corrosion resistance and lower friction when lubed. And its available in any color you want, as long as its black.
  14. Not that I've ever seen. You can get then hard chormed.
  15. I had a 9mm 1911 built on a Fusion frame - picked it since I could get it with the chainlink checkering on the front strap. It had a lot of tool marks on it. Dimensionally it seemed to be ok. If I had another one built, I'd probably go with a Caspian.
  16. Die info here: http://leeprecision.com/reloading-dies/hand-gun-dies/lee-carbide-factory-crimp-die/
  17. Probably not, defeats the purpose anyway. Might as well use a regular crimp die.
  18. I use an FCD with plated bullets (X-Treme) and have no problem. On the few occasions I've had to pull a reload there has not been any and I mean NO marks on the bullet to show it was ever used. As others reported problems, YMMV.
  19. X-Treme has a 220 gr 40 cal bullet. I've not tried it (yet) for I fear I will like it so much I won't want to load & shoot my remaining stock of 180gr bullets.
