  1. Ok...what if there was not quite 50 in a division (like how about 48)....is it still just 1st OA or do the have some participation point where they go to 2OA....3OA, etc?
  2. I REALLY liked the open squading format from past matches. All of us PNW shooters formed our own squad and because of the "open" format, we were able to shoot stages in any order we wanted at any time we wanted. Last year the weather on Saturday was "less than spectacular" and when the skies opened up we decided to save the last 4 stages for Sunday. It was nice in that we had that choice rather than being forced to shoot in the rain. While we PNW shooters are used to shooting in the rain....it was the local tornado that had us a bit concerned! Typically we save 3 or 4 stages for Sunday and shoot the rest on Saturday.
  3. Big changes coming....waiting for SteveH to make it official. Looks like this match may become an important part of history.
  4. I'm really looking forward to the match this year. I've never shot at Tri-County but I've heard its a really nice range. Last years match in Missoula was great...so the folks at Tri-County are going to have some big shoes to try and fill.
  5. I still think you should take a look at theSV650. Weight is 363lbs (165kg), seat height is 31.5" (800mm) and the engine has about 70hp. The nice thing is...if you tip it over, you won't be faced with expensive plastic to fix. My girlfriend rides a GSXR1000, is 5'8" and has no trouble with that....so I think you'd do fine with a 650cc bike like the SV.
  6. second vote for the Suzuki SV650. Since you've ridden in the past, this would be a great "next step". I started out years ago (1989) with a GPz550...then years later, progressed to a tweaked Yamaha YZF750 (Mike Velasco set it up for racing) and then finally a Yamaha R1. If you start small (400cc) you'll probably quickly out grow it and you want plenty of power for getting out of dangerous situations.
  7. my (girl)friend actually suggested we go see it.....after it was over...we both agreed...it sucked. Seems like a movie waiting for something to happen and never finds it. Save your money...wait for it on DVD.
  8. I'm shooting as much as I can! You may or may not be interested in this Leroy...but word is that Tom Stidham who runs/owns MasterBlaster is NOT going out of business. He changed his mind and decided to keep it running. Thats what I heard from a fellow shooter who talked with him last week.
  9. Another +1 on Springfield. If you're comparing Kimber and Springfield...check the differences in warranty between the two.
  10. Which makes no sense to me...I live about 50 miles from their factory (Duane is MUCH closer) and yet, I can get them cheaper from Cabelas SHIPPED than I can locally. I haven't found anyone who can beat Cabelas with respect to final cost.....not even the local "representatives".
  11. Hey Duane....I can't say anything about 9mm...but for 45ACP, I recently switched from MasterBlaster Moly bullets to Rainier 230gr TMJ and have been very happy with the performance. I'm shooting 4.0gr of Clays loaded to 1.255" OAL.....does about 169pf and seems to be accurate.
  12. Do it Brian! Nothing but pure fun! My bike and my girlfriends bike.....
  13. Talk to the hand, 'cause the face don't wanna hear it anymore.
  14. I tape all the holes because I want to see that I'm calling the shots from run to run on the targets.
  15. Ok...so why doesn't IDPA do it the USPSA way...charge a small match fee that the clubs have to send in based on headcount....that way IDPA gets revenue from all shooters the same way USPSA does....and there isn't the requirement to join (hence, attracting more shooters to the game).
  16. In my neck of the woods...if you want to shoot more than one match...you do .... and they enforce it.
  17. 5th based on post count....1st based on join date. Confusious sez Those who know...don't say....those who say...don't know.
  18. To shoot a Level III match (like Area 1) all you need to do is be a member of the USPSA (you don't technically need to be classified....but I'd recommend that you do). You don't need to be registered for the point series....just join the USPSA (if you haven't already) and submit your match application with fees. Pretty simple.
  19. Thanks Chuck....when you get official confirmation.....could you please post the dates here?
  20. Have the dates for this been set in stone yet? I know it was initially proposed to be Thurs - Sat but suggested to be Fri - Sun.
  21. Ok...screw it. I'm coming to the match! I've shot it the last two years now (last year was a REALLY tough match) with a bunch of the locals from up here. Right now they're not planning on making it down there but maybe I can figure a way to drag some of them back down with me. Now if I can just figure a creative way to get myself squaded with TGO....afterall we BOTH shoot Springfields! (thats got to count for something!) Steve, tell Joey that the "Seattle Yankee" is coming (he'll know!!!!).
  22. those are probably the bullets I'm going to switch to for PRACTICE ammo. Before you decide on going with a lubed bullet for match ammo...I would seriously consider running some of them and see if you're OK with the smoke you will get. I shot lubed bullets for quite some time and they were really smoky....then I switched to MasterBlaster bullets and the smoke was about a 1/3 of lubed lead....when I switched to Rainier, I've getting almost no smoke. It's really nice shooting with NO smoke.
