    Happy birthdays youse guys.
  2. Thanks for reminding everyone Paul
  3. TL, thanks, I appreciate the confidence. But I'm pretty sure that Jerry would kick my ass from here to anyplace he'd like. 300lb, thanks for the info. Just what I thought. Gotta get me one of those fast
  4. Does anyone know what the exact setup of Jerry Miculek’s main match revolver was? Was it an N-frame? Six or eight shots? Long skinny barrel or lug? Caliber?
  5. Pete, I’m sorry if I offended you. I had no intention. I was joking around (well, not really, because actually, I AM thinking of spray painting my revolver grip pink, just to piss people off) I can imagine you would want something different and cool looking, but it’s difficult for me to give any advice, since all of this is so very subjective (I really like the green ones, for instance). The colored SVI-grips look cool, but I’ve heard it wears off pretty fast. Personally, I’d find out what types of paint don’t wear, and do it myself (and give that one year of art school some use )
  6. Wow, is the .59 sec from the first to the last shot (meaning four splits of .1475)? If that's the case, it would kind of surprise me. I mean, it's amazing, but his splits on the 8 shots in one second were faster and from a big ol' N-frame. The 10 revolver drill is great!
  7. Hi Sensei, I think shooting minor in Revolver-class is something worth considering (the World Shoot nr.2 shot minor in a 686, and came in second with 84% after revolvergod Jerry M.). And if you want to shoot Major, you can do it with a 686. Some shooters in my country (the Netherlands) shoot major .38 special. They use 200 grain roundnose bullets, made by Haendler & Natermann. I think minor in a revolver can work. The extra time to get and A instead of a C is minimal, and you don't shoot as fast as the other classes anyways, so it becomes less of an issue. Bjorn
  8. I'd definately go with a custom pink gun. I'd have the slide anodized purple, with little silver hearts.
  9. Chuck, the CR is just as fast as the other holsters. What you get from the CR holster is security. You can draw very fast, but you don't have to lock it.
  10. Chuck, did you order the 5" model?
  11. I like the idea of 9 shot revolvers. I don't think IPSC/USPSA will ever reach the point where .32 guns are allowed, though. BTW, I think it would be really cool to shoot an 8-shot wheelgun in a "Limited-8" Division
  12. The comp at the bottom of this page looks nice and effective. http://www.m-guns.com/bowling.php edit
  13. Wow! Is that a comp or that stolen prop from T3, the terminator's "special part"?
  14. The very cool new thread about Open Revolver class made me wonder. Do compensators on revolvers make sense? What "common" designs are there? Do they only work with very high pressure loads? Does anyone have pictures of their Open revolver comp? Are barrel weights more effective? A ton of Q's, I know, but I thought this would be a nice "general" open revolver thread. I've done some searching (here and on the web), but couldn't find very much. I'm thinking of having my smith build an open revolver I can use for Steel challenge, Bianchi and maybe even IPSC open (just for fun).
  15. Yeah, great ideas so far. Now if IPSC would change the "no more than 9 shots from one position"-rule to the 8 shot USPSA variant, I would definately go for it. I would personally let anything with a 9mm diameter score major, as long as it's 160 PF. Ports and dots of course. But I would still put a limit on the capacity (8).
  16. Chuck, I also use a CR holster and belt. Both are great. I use California Competition Works moonclip holders (got them through Dillon). As far as sight radius goes, a 625 with a 5" barrel has the same sight radius as a 5" barelled 1911. I shoot the 5" model. It has never bothered me on long or tight shots. Plus I think it handles better than the 6,5" full lug guns (I've never shot the 6,5 inch 25-2 though. It sounds great). Let us know what your choice will be. Good luck. Björn
  17. TBF, thanks. Well I hope I don't sound like an a*hole when I say this. It doesn't really feel great to win a level III match that has 4 revo competitors (not when there are 100 guys shooting standard of which 10 usually shoot revolver ). But it was nice that I shot some of the stages with "standard div. hit factors". cheers
  18. [Major thread drift mode on] I disagree. It is well known that .40 guns have a higher capacity than .45 guns, which is why .45 are all but gone in limited, but constantly seen in limited-10. Capacity is the big drawback, not recoil, or speed. [Major thread drift mode off]
  19. Garfield, thanks. It was a tough match for revolver shooters. Lots of long distance targets (those 6 damned poppers at 50y...in one stage!!!! ), and the confusing field courses made for some nice challenges. And a challenge for you too. RO'ing your first level III.
  20. Or just a whole lotta practice. I managed to break the main springs on my revolvers dry firing every day.
  21. That sucks big time. I have a similar post around here somewhere, about how I hate it that guns always break like two days before a match. Luckily yours is a Glock, so most of the repairs means putting in a spare part. But it still sucks. It takes away confidence in your gun.
  22. Congrats Ron!!! I thought you quit shooting revolver (saw the 610 for sale here)? If you're still shooting revolver, that's good news.
  23. Looks nice. I liked the 1917 moonclip version.
