  1. Am I the only one around here who thinks this place absolutely sucks? LOL, just kidding of course. I could never tell where I would have been without these forums, but I can guess. Great people, great info, great atmosphere. Hard to find a place like this anywhere, let alone on the internet.
  2. It surpised me that .38 super was S&W's caliber of choice. it was expecting some real rimless caliber , such as 9x23.
  3. Well, Gorilla, then allow me to be irrational I think the thumb cocking rule "feels" wrong. I think it wouldn't make a difference though. Thumb cocking costs time. And I've been shooting my DAO revolver for too long now to think that the actual weight and travel of the trigger weights up to me watching the sights while I pull it.
  4. Are you sure? I'm asking because somewhere during one of the movies (yes, yes, vague, I know. Let's just call it early Alzheimer) during a dream of Frodo, he saw the Shire being overrun etc. So I thought they might have it on film.

    Agp?

Like G34 I also "need" a new videocard for America's Army and some other games. My question is this. I have a 512MB SDRAM, AMD 1700+ processor on an old motherboard with 2xAGP. Is it wise to buy for instance, an ATI 9600 256MB 8x AGP card with my current 2x AGP motherboard? Will it enhance graphic performance? Or do I really need a new motherboard too? I'm currently playing with a 32MB ATI Radeon 4x AGP. Any other suggestions that might help?
  10. Vince, I'd be glad to help you out with questions that you have (if I can be of help, that is ) I think this is nice philosophy. The game should be fun for most people. Not just the guys with lots of cash to blow. But, I would think that for instance, even the guy with the issued model 10 .38 can chamfer the cylinder on his gun without much trouble. I did it myself (and I am a technical retard). He can switch a spring or two in a matter of minutes. These are all modifications that are (IMO an experience) inexpensive and easy to do. I think (another IMO!) that there's not much to gain in RSD by modifying the gun. The "capacity" is fixed (I know, I know, 8 shooter can play too as long as they only pull the trigger 6 times), sights are all post and notch and grips can be switched easily. This makes all guns that compete more or less equal. Only thing that makes a revolver more competitive (IMO) is the caliber (shooting a .45 major is easier than shooting a .357 magnum major), federal primers, and an OK trigger (notice the OK It doesn't have to be perfect) In other words, you can give me a stock 625, a $15 springkit, a small file and 10 hours of dryfire and it'll be just as comptitive as a 625 + $1000 worth of gunsmithing (Hell, I wouldn't even know what to spend the $1000 on in an IPSC revolver). Keep the "capacity" fixed (6 shots because that is what most people have), prohibit ports and optics and you have the most "equal" division of them all.
  11. Vince and Kees (hi Kees), The most common and inexpensive ways to make he sixguns shoot is the internal tuning of the guns (this mostly consists of polishing the internals and swapping the springs). I'd throw the whole "Internal modifications to improve function and reliability are allowed"- thing back in. I'm willing to bet that 98-99% of the shooters have "illegal" tuning done to their revolvers (springs and/or polishing) Please, don't make RSD as restrictive as production division. Bjorn Dietrich
  12. Chamfering is allowed (on S&W revo's), since the Performance Center does that on request. BTW, what ever happened to the word "external" in the revolver rules. I could have sworn it was there before. It said: "external modifications are limited to....etc." Why the change? It's starting to look like production. I want to be able to swap springs and stuff.
  13. Man, that's awesome. Congrats GM Mink!
  14. Yeah, it's always nice to see some fellow insomniacs. And then there's the European delegation on these forums. When I'm surfing in the morning, It's still 3 AM in the Atlantic area.
  15. Zak, the parts that comprise the weak points are the drop safety catch (the small part that catches the firing pin when you decock it + the spring that moves it). The firing pin spring is strong, so when you decock it a lot, the firing pin will break the catch. Yes, releasing the squeeze-cocker when the gun is cocked. The best way to decock this gun (when you're dry firing or so) is to pull the slide back about half an inch (you can actually feel the catch pull the firing pin) and then letting go of the squeeze-cocker and moving the slide back forward. It's a shame H&K hasn't beefed up this little metal thingy. I broke the catch once and the spring twice, but...that was after lots of dryfire (I paid $90 for the catch an$7 for the springs ) OTOH, never (seriously..never!) had a jam. Accuracy is unbelievable (and not just "for a small gun". It's really amazing). They sit ultra low in your hand. Too bad there's no IDPA in my country. Because reloading from slide-lock with P7's is very cool
  16. That is one sweet looking gun Congrats! I have the P7M13 version. These guns are so accurate it's scary. I got mine with a 5 shot 1" group on the test target at 25m. The only weak point of this gun is the drop catch safety + spring. That means it's not wise to decock it alot, or to dryfire without snap caps. Your guns seems to be in excellent condition, judging from the photo. It also doesn't seem to be a "refurb". BTW, if you like this type of gun, check out www.parkcitiestactical.com Excellent P7 forum.
  17. Yeah it was great. Loved it. "As usual" it started a bit slow, but once things got rolling it rocked. I'm hoping the extended version on DVD will bring us the battle for the Shire. BTW, I have the extended versions of Part I & II on DVD and man, does that make a difference. It's way more coherent.
  18. Happy New Year everyone!!! I know it's going to be another great year for this place

    Ltr Bio's

I like Sauron's and the Balrog's bios. They have something Farside-ish.
  20. Dogma, I think your theory of Performance vs. Improvement makes a lot of sense.
  21. Chuck, why don't you check out www.smith-wessonforum.com The guys and gals over there are absolute S&W nuts. They know everything. They'll surely know the date of birth of your M10 and value.
  22. Cool, now add some skateboard tape for extra grip
  23. I just remembered something. I DO locktite my guns, because I noticed that, when the screw backs out more than 1 turn, it affects the triggerpull. Don't ask me why, but the trigger becomes inconsistent and somewhat gritty. YMMV.
  24. I had my cylinder fall out once, because I forgot to check the screws. It landed on a concrete floor and made the cylinder touch the barrel . I can only agree with what you say. Congrats on the win.
