  1. Wow, truly a great post. I've been there, and sometimes still am. What I've found out so far is that it doesn't matter what you "think" of your shooting. It happens anyways. I traded "being disgusted with myself" for "objectively enhancing my flaws" and it's the best thing I have done concerning shooting, ever. I screwed a pretty big match up some time ago. It was a three day match. On the first stage I threw a mike. That set the tone for the rest of the match, and not because I shot like crap, but because my attitude sucked. Like you said, it didn't matter anymore. I didn't care anymore. I just shot the stages as fast as I could. I came in sixth at 86%. the number three was at 89%. That's when I learned that "it really ain't over until the fat lady sings". If my attitude wouldn't have sucked, I could have been 3rd, or maybe even 2nd. I realized that I was disgusted with myself, and was contaminating myself with a negative self image, because I wasn't shooting like I wanted to shoot. But in the meantime, I realized that nobody shot like I wanted to shoot. I demanded way too much of myself. My advice to you (and then I'll leave the soapbox to others ) is to take it easy on yourself. Beating yourself up will not improve anything and it will make you feel like crap. And don't give up when things don't exactly work out like you want them to. Eric G. won the last WS with an enormous jam on one of the stages (cost him about 3 seconds ) I doubt if would have won if he would have let that influence his performance on the remaining stages.
  2. Thanks for the ultra fast reply Rob This doesn't make very much sense to me. Glock offers their model 17 with a 3.5lbs connector for LE/military purposes too (in Europe). Well, I thought Glock might do this, since they have proven that they can produce connectors for $4 a piece I just don't like the fact that a product is more expensive because it is desired by people who will pay for it, and not because it is more valuable/costly to produce objectively.
  3. I might as well post this in the "What I Hate" forum, but I thought it would be more effective to post it here. I'm looking for a 3,5lbs connector for my new G17. I want to trick it out for IPSC production (if that's possible at all ) I thought I'd try the 3.5lbs connector and the NY trigger spring to get a revolverlike 5+lbs trigger. So, I went online to shop for some connectors. My first question is: Why is it that 5lbs & 8lbs connectors are $4 and 3.5lbs connectors are $25!!??!? Question number 2: does anyone know of a place that has a good price on 3.5lbs. connectors (stock, they have to be IPSC legal)? Thanks
  4. Arvid, I think it's great that the two of you still raise your kids "the old fashioned way" (a lotta love and attention). My mom quit her job too 25 years ago, to take care of me and my little brother full time, and all I can say is that it does make a difference. You will not be sorry. I feel sorry for the kids living next door to me. They seem to be a burden to their parents. They drop them off first thing in the morning and the little ones get picked up very late at night That can't be good. Their mom told me they sometimes call the lady at the daycare centre "mommy" (she laughed when she told me )
  5. That would be cool. We have the ".354 any caliber for major as long as it makes 170PF"-rule in IPSC. It's cool, because most people load .38 specials already, and reloads are a tad faster with the shorter rounds.

    New Comp

That is one gorgeous comp man! Awesome!
  7. I believe or own Vince "Uncle Darth" Pinto does.
  8. Hi Newbie, welcome to the boards My advice is: shoot your TGO1 for some time (say a year from now) and see how you like the sport. Your TGO1 will do great in Limited 10 division. This will save you money and will give you time to think about what best suits your needs (hell, you might want to shoot Open division six months from now). What I would do if I were you, is invest some money in reloading equipment as soon as you think you'll keep shooting. Get yourself a nice Dillon and ask someone who has been reloading for some time to help you out. It will save you bigtime in the $$$ection, or it will allow you to shoot more for the same amount of cash. Just my 2 cents

    A funny clip

    Very funny indeed

    Audiences

Sounds like good practice for a shoot off to me
  11. I had guns I didn't use much. Once I discover I really have no use for a gun, it's gotta go. Of course, this also has to do with the laws in my country only allowing me to have 5 firearms I still have a H&K P7M13 I hate to shoot but love nonetheless

  13. My guess is that you like it because it breaths functionality Everything on the gun has a purpose and stuff that has no purpose isn't on the gun. It was made for shooting, not for showing off it's looks. I like it. It looks just about as crappy as my worn out revolver. And that's a positive thing
  14. 1.902 Oh wow! 1.784 I've heard Eric G plays a lot of video games to keep his eyes in shape 1.716 1.702 1.694
  15. I'll call plates from left to right (excluding stop plate) 1-6. My order was 5, 6, 4, 3, 1, 2, stop plate. Am I close?
  16. I'll ask again, assuming you guys just missed my question In what order do you shoot the targets?
  17. Doug, great post. I think I'll have Mark make me a nice FO like you have (even though I'm located overseas). What keeps surprising me is how the "trick of the day" as Brian calls it in his book, applies to revolver speed reloads. It's like you "need" a trick of the day to make your reloads nice 'n smooth (like holding open the cylinder, or focussing on the chargeholes).
  18. And for us European folk, it's available through Saul Kirsch

    Yankee or Dixie

51% Dixie. Not bad for a European
  21. What's the best engagement order?
  22. Seems to me that as long as: 1) your weak hand gets the new mag as fasty as it can, 2) the gun is ready to accept the new mag as soon as it gets there, 3) the mag is in as fast as possible, and 4) the gun is back on the target as fast as possible, any technique can be perfect. Besides, if you don't flick but use that "classic" technique and do it fast enough, it will be a flick.
  23. Ron, have you seen the "Ultimate Revolver" video, by Magill? Jerry explains why he uses a serrated trigger. Basically it comes down to this: He strokes the trigger with the pad of his finger (top). Reason for doing this is that you can make a smaller movement with the finger to complete the stroke. To keep the pad of his finger in place, he uses a serrated trigger. With a smooth trigger his finger would be "all over the place" as he puts it. I moved from a very narrow smooth trigger to a wide serrated one (been shooting it for about 9 months now). It does give me the feeling of more control. It keeps my finger in place. My splits are a little less slow with the serrated trigger (have not been below .20, though ) But I think it all boils down to personal preference (as always).
