  1. Yeah, so that's where I think Mats is right. It will take you longer to hit an A on a target like that. The only thing I can think of is to let the sights creep to the A/C line and "hope" for the best I hope you will get that .40 soon Mats. Bummer you can't have it before the World Shoot
  2. Hooah! So true. Shooting a revolver requires completely different gun handling skills than shooting an auto. For me, that's where the fun is. You get more time behind the trigger (unless you're on a roll ) and you're always doing something with the gun. I've noticed that most revolver shooters are real passionate when it comes to shooting their wheelguns. I also think that's also where the small number of shooters comes from. Rob Leatham shoots Production, Limited & Open. Dave S. shoots Production and Limited once in a while. Todd Jarrett shoots Limited, Open and Production. Matt Burkett shoots all auto classes. Can you imagine any of them with a revolver in their hands? I can't without a little grin on my face. It's a different game.
  3. Jake, the targets were not 70% covered or exposed. What I meant was the imbalance of targets used in the match, because about 70% of the targets used were either 50% visible or had some serious hardcover/penalties. Most targets were like this: The blue area is hardcover. The problem with those targets IMO, is that they are discriminating between Major and Minor shooters, because they place the highest scoring zone to the edge of the targets. Going for an A here is risky, while on a normal targets, the A-zone is the safest zone to aim for, because it's right in the middle On these targets, it really pays to shoot major. And if you have one of these at 30 yds, I'm aiming centre mass
  4. I can't speak for USPSA, but the numer of IPSC revo guys is growing. OK, so it's not growing as fast as Production. I think there will be about 100 guys shooting wheelguns at the next World Shoot. Maybe some guys in the US won't play because they will have to face Revogod Jerry
  5. Mats, I think you are right. There are situations where it will take longer to get an A. Usually these are situations where getting the A is risky. Especially with the unbalanced target selection at the EC (they were 70+% partials! ) I think the reason they did this is to create "distance". They have many bays that are only 15-20m deep. The problem with cutting up the targets vertically, is that you cut the A-zone in half over the full lenght, making an A-zone hit a peripheral hit, with the possible risk of a miss of a penalty. This only creates distance between Major and Minor shooters. These kind of targets should therefor be the exception, not the rule IMO. But to get beack on topic. I think that if you have say, a partial like that 25m out, you should just go for centre mass, or the A/C line, depending on skill. If you go for an A there, you'd better be able to call your shots with the utmost precision. But at some of the distances at the EC, you'll be surprized at how fast you can get A's on those partials. 5 - 10 m out it shouldn't make much of a difference. Keep in mind that you'll get extra points, so you can take longer to get it (duh )
  6. Thanks Flex. Your spot on again
  7. Henny, Max Michel had a great tip on relaxation. At least, it worked for me. He said you should see the beep as a start signal, nothing more. Why the tension? In IPSC there are no fixed time strings. You can take as long as you want
  8. Henny, I think Jake is right. My question to you is, why would you shoot a D? It takes no extra time to get an A or a C. The only reason IMO to get a D is if you're not accurate enough, or if getting anything else is risky (no shoots etc.) Now, I know you're accurate enough (Bianchi shooter) so go for the middle An other thing that got me to a new level was the realization that "points are time". Most people focus on being fast, because that is what wins matches. Well, I tried to turn it around. If I could shoot only A's and a couple of C's, I wouldn't have to shoot like a maniac. An A instead of a D will pay for itself instantly in HF points.
  9. chp5, do you think the results would have been different if the top 8 shot SS instead of their fat guns? I think was Steven said is the reason the top guys shoot S_Is:
  10. I bet if you throw all your guns in the safe and prctice with a SS exclusively for an hour a day, you'll be able to do that in less than a month Damn Steven, that is good stuff. I'd like to add something. Can anyone name a GM in Lim-10 or limited, that could not have made GM in Lim-10 with SS gun if he put in the same amount of work ?
  11. Exactly. That's why I asked this question: I think in this case, a guy shooting a single stack (or a Glock without a magwell like Kyle) should work harder to get to 1.0s reloads than a guy with a fat gun. But that's it. He has to put in more work initially. It's kind of like manual vs. automatic gears. Takes longer to learn with manual, but it isn't any slower once you get the hang of it
  12. Sam, thanks for the fast reply I will try out a couple of things. I noticed my .45 load got a little dirtier, because I changed it a little. So, I'll change that back first. And I will polish my chambers. Good to hear it helps (at least a bit) Plus I think I'll have my smith measure the differences between the chanbers of the two guns. If my new gun has tighter chambers, I'll have my smith widen them up. I hope I don't have to switch back to ol' faithful. That gun is so worn out, I doubt it will make it to the World Shoot without some serious repairs. Besides, the new gun gets me about 10 PF more with the same load. And the new gun has a trigger that is sweeeet
  13. Do you think that these exceptional people could reload their Fat guns even faster?
  14. Consistent guiding of the gun durig recoil seems to be most important. Strenght will keep your gun flatter, but to be consistent you have to be relaxed. The trick, I think, is to have a very strong grip, but no tension. If you have incredibly strong forearms, you can be relaxed and still have a very strong grip on the gun. Someone with less strenght will feel more tension when putting the same amount of pressure on the grip. But then again, our Dutch ladies champ is very small and doesn't have a powerful grip, yet she can crank out .12 splits and can run with the best of them.
  15. I've bumped this to top again, because I have the same problem with my new wheelgun I'm intend to use for the World Shoot. And of course, I don't want any stuck brass there :S Sam, did you try the Flitz method?
  16. Sorry to butt in on this, but I have a question. Is it possible to win L-10/make GM in L-10 with a gun and rig that meets all the proposed requirements for the Provisional division (given that you can use 10 round mags)?
  17. Weights are allowed now. If your gun has no holes in the barrel(except the big one at the end ), no optics, fits the box in ready condition and fires 9x19mm or above, you're good to go.
  18. Just be careful that you don't set the time too low. 1.5s is super fast. I would have to "go for it" too try and beat 1.5s. I would lose my consistency that way. Try setting the timer at 2.5s and beat it on demand. Play with how easily you can beat that time. Try to do 2.5s as relaxed as you can, then lower the time. This kind of training will improve consistency and will get you below 2 before you know it
  19. Hi Gary, A couple of steel shooters over here shoot 686s with jetloaders. I've seen them do 1.7s reloads, but normally they run about 2.2-2.7s. What kind of trouble are you running into with the speedloaders. Under 2 seconds seems very solid! BTW, I've looked into the Longwitz speedloaders and haven't found any. I don't shoot speedloader guns myself, so I might not know where to look exactly. Bjorn
  20. Beautiful gun. But, knowing myself it would not stay that way for very long. All my guns look ugly and beat up because I USE them And $2700+ sounds a bit steep considering th eoptions, doesn't it?
  21. I'm not even a USPSA member and I would LOVE a division like that. Sounds like a division with equal, old-school gear and a whole lotta fun basically.
