  1. Yeah, lead ammo. I train with about 5 people on an indoor range with a very bad ventilation system. I doubt if they would like that, but I can always ask them if they would mind. Besides, with the very low velocity .45 probably won't even smoke that much with lead bullets. Thanks Bill.
  2. Bill (it is Bill isn't it?) an shred. You both have interesting points. Exactly what I feared . It takes actual live fire practice. It's not something that you "release" like tension free shooting. You have to build the skill by just rehearsing and spending ammo.....45 ACP ammo!!! Man, I've got to go practicing. I should have picked production class. It's cheaper. I'm just a poor student. Thanks for the help guys
  3. Detlef, that's not that fast is it? Really, .35 at 17y is pushing it for me. And I heard Jerry got them down to .14 (at 5y OK, but still, he could easily do .25 at 17yards) A3, I noticed it doesn't really matter what focus I have on close distances. Focussing on the FS gets me A hits easier (which is already too easy on close targets) and focussing on the target gets me splits that are still unacceptably slow. Maybe I need to "prep" the trigger before the gun comes down from recoil, but I think that's risky. Really don't have a clue. (Edited by spook at 12:18 pm on Nov. 27, 2002)

    Charity

Yeah Flex, that sucks. My country (The Netherlands) spends a ton of money on charity and third world help. And we also have a big problem getting the money to where it's intended to go. When I look at the effort made to do that and see that only a third gets to the right people, it makes me sad. But keep in mind that the charity itself is not bad, it's the fact that the whole system fails that makes it all suck bigtime. 88% to the telemarketeers? That's just plain insane!
  5. I would try the smith & wesson forums. They'll probably know. http://www.smith-wessonforum.com Good luck
  6. I've noticed something over the last couple of weeks. It seems that I can't get splits faster then .25 with my revolver. And .25 is on point blank range (about 6 yards). Now I was wondering why that is. I just can't put my finger on what the reason or solution is. I watch the FS go up and shoot again as soon as it's alligned again. I already have the feeling that if I go any "faster" that I lose control and can't call my shots anymore. I know I should shoot as fast as I can see, but splits that are .35 regularly on 12 to 17 yard "easy" shots are way to slow. And I don't believe (or am not willing to believe) that it's my equipment holding me back. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Björn
  7. Swede, congrats. I was wondering, do you se the same load in .40 cases? And what recoil springs do you use. I am asking, because I am blessed with really large hands and was also planning on taking the G20 route into limited. Guess it's a scandinavian thing Greetz, Björn
  8. Hawker, how very cool that you picked revolver as your class. It definately needs more competitors. lynn has a good point. Keep your revolver clean between stages. I can only say: Try as much as you can, and keep what you like. I personally use California Competition Works clip holders (sold by Dillon, which I think are the same ones lynn adresses). They're very fast. Get your cylinder chamfered(or do it yourself), and use round nose bullets for fast reloads. With a 625, the reloads are great. I personally don't care about larger cylinder releases, because they can get in the way of reloads(I have large hands), but that's just my opinion. Do you already have your trigger done? i don't have any useful tips on holsters, as mine is home-made, but I am looking at the Hoeppner&Schoemann Speedsec. and the Rescomp CR Speed holser at the time. These seem to be the hot tickets for revolver shooting. You say you like the holster you've got. That's great. Stick to it until you feel you need to change. So much for equipment. Now for the real stuff: PRACTICE!! That's what it all comes down to with any type of shooting, but with revolver shooting, the nice thing is that there's so little difference between live firing and dry firing. The trigger stays the same, and dry fire is great in speeding up your reloads. Practice your reloads, until they're nice and smooth and make them at tactical positions (long runs etc.) And oh yeah, have fun.

    The Sky

Brian, yeah, the skies in Holland are amazing. Guess that's why so many of the Dutch masters (painters, not shooters ) are so famous. SiG Lady, I've never seen it. Have you? It seems to be really amazing, from what I've heard.
  10. dvc40jim, I am interested in a pair of RP prescription glasses. Do you know where i can find a dealer in The Netherlands, Europe?
  11. Thanks A3, good idea. I'll try it. Patrick, thanks for the info. I'll buy a pound of 310 and load some stuff.
  12. Carlos, thanks, I will.

    The Sky

Sometimes, about once or twice a year, when the sun goes down the whole sky will light up so bright in yellow and orange , that I just stand and watch for half an hour. Just totally in awe of being part of this universe. I dunno, but I really love that. This probably sound kinda silly, but I'll put it here anyways.
  14. Patrick, yeah it could be that the chambers are a bit rough. How can I check that? Have you experienced this before with 625's? And if you have, how does one solve that? All my shooting buddies shoot .40's unfortunately, so I cannot try their loads. I'm the only revolver shooter in the club. And they all shoot N340, so I cannot try some faster powders either. N310 seems like a good solution. Any nice loads you can recommend that make major? Bill, I don't know if you're talking to me or to DougC, but I use 320 and throw the minimum from the VV data in (I just know it's 0,325 grams, dunno how much that is in grains ) Sorry for all the questions, but this is really an irriating little problem. Thanks for all the help you guys
  15. Limited40, thanks, do you use it in a revolver?
  16. I shoot revolver class. A 625 Smith & Wesson in .45 ACP. The gun is great. Reloads are amazing. Problem is this: Whenever I have shot about two or three clips and reload again, the new clip won't "fall in". It needs to be pushed in the last 0.2" or so. As you can imagine this is a major PITA on longcourses as it slows my reloads down enormously. I think this is due to the amount of yellow grainy residue of unburned powder. My current load is the VV minimum of N320 with a 230 grain RN copperplated bullet. I use Federal LP 150 primers. Now, I need a CLEAN load. What would help me get this load clean? Different powder? more crimp? magnum primers? I'd like to stick to VV powders though. Anyone? Thanks
  17. Thanks Skywalker, I checked it, but it's a little more expensive having one shipped from Italy. A friend of mine is Italian and spends half her life in Italy and the other half over here in the Netherlands, so I might ask her to pick one up for me, since she's going back to Italy in two weeks.
  18. Skywalker, thanx. Yeah Julien, that would be great (some pics of your holster). I´ll probably want to change the lockup the minute I get the holster. BTW, is €149 a good deal on this holster? (Edited by spook at 12:47 pm on Nov. 20, 2002)
  19. I was wondering if anyone tried it or uses it on a regular basis. I saw it at a gun show and it seems very very very fast. The con to me looks like it´s not that secure. It has a manual lock though. I was going to use it for a S&W N-frame 625. Any opinions (or other great revo IPSC holsters)? Thanks
  20. TMC, yeah that's what I noticed as well. Those reov guys just don't practice. To me, the best part about revo shooting is that the dry firing is such good practice. With an SA auto it's more difficult to practice on the trigger from shot to shot. Shooting revolver to me is just so very challenging, that I couldn't go back to just auto's anymore
  21. SIF, It took me quite a while to get used to my M13. It's definately not an everyman's gun. Use very little oil. And when you do, only on the rails. Otherwise it'll heat up. Take your time to get used to it if you're just disappointed that it doesn't shoot like your 1911. Going from a P7 to a 1911 would disappoint too, and would also take time.
  22. Chuck, The 10 rnd law has always stunned me because of its stupidity. I understand you would like the old situation back.
  23. Chuck, I'm talking about IPSC. We don't have mag cap restrictions in the EU. I'm talking about 10 rounds for the sake of the division.
  24. dbritt066, If you have a holser that covers the trigger guard, isn't that safe enough? External safeties can also be switched off when you don't want it.
