  1. I'm witcha 2alpha. (Of course it helps that I live overseas, but that's not the point) Seriously, that kind of "rewarding" has always bothered me. We have that at the bianchi cup over here. You get a prize if you come in 1st, 10th, 20th, 30th etc. That is just not fair. Some even try to make 80th, when they could have a shot for 75th, just for the prize.

    .40 .45 or ?

It depends on what you want to spend and how much you like shooting. Like you say, you've only been shooting for a month. I wouldn't go all out and buy a 1911. It's cool if you have the money, but if you don't want to shoot anymore after a couple of months, it's money you could have spent on better things. Glock is a nice choice, but like Flex said, it's going to take some time to get set up for reloading (if you go the 40/45 way). You could buy a Glock 17 or 34. That way you can shoot competition (USPSA production with both 17 and 34 or IPSC if you choose the 17). Plus you could carry the 17. If you go down the 40/45 road, take the 40.
  3. Vince, my bad. I posted this right before coffee.
  4. I think Bruce has a point. I thought the box rule now has the purpose to 'limit' capacity. You can throw in a 140mm rule to limit capacity somewhat, but that's not neccesary if you limit the number of rounds in advance. Short: Why put any dimensional limits on a gun that can only hold ten rounds?
  5. Pretty cool avatar Pat. Is that the Violator from 'Spawn'?
  6. If you will it, it is no dream (Sorry, I just love The Big Lebowski) Good work Mike
  7. SL, that sounds pretty fundamental. And NOW you're starting to have real fun?

    Garbage bags

I know its not friday yet (well, it is now), but I was cleaning up the attic and the whole thing ended up in complete frustration and rage. Couldnt save it up until friday, so, there ya go...
  9. Vince, what a great idea. A world wide L10 or S10 division. What can I do to promote it?

    Garbage bags

I F%^#%NG HATE IT WHEN I TRY TO PUT SOMETHING BIG INTO A GARBAGE BAG AND IT SNAGS, THEREBY CLOSING THE BAG, MAKING EVERYTHING FALL ON THE GROUND. Sorry this may look like a small problem (or maybe not even a problem at all) but IT F#$%ING P!SSES ME OFF!!!!!!!
  11. Sorry, double post. Guess I got a little carried away about Grauffel (Edited by spook at 1:11 pm on Jan. 16, 2003)
  12. Julien, really? Is Eric going to shoot Standard after the next WS? Man that would be cool. He's even better with a standard gun. Dave, you're right. They probably said the same about Leatham. But with Eric, it's scary. When he turns up at a match, you KNOW he'll win. I mean, he had some jams at the last WS and still beats the 2nd place by 4%. He shot the French nationals Standard div., the second guy came in at about 80%. He shoots poppers weak hand at 50 yards with .25 splits. He's just a maniac. (Of course, so is Leatham, but that's not the point here )
  13. Dogs are the best. It's a shame they can't talk.
  14. Yep, 1,5 sure is good. I've never timed myself getting a 1,5 reload. Fastest I've timed is just a hair under 2 secs. But I know I've done them faster. Probably around 1,7 tops. Moonclips are the best.
  15. I think Dillon is like Glock in a way. The presses are reliable. They're plenty accurate. They're not that expensive (no really, considering the quality). They're extremely easy in use and maintenance. They have A LIFETIME NO BS WARRANTY (wish Glocks had that). They just have the best of all worlds. As I've mentioned in previous thread about single stagevs. progressive, I've found my Dillon measures to be a little sloppy, but still accurate enough. As far as measures go, I really like the uniflow from RCBS. The Lee presses I've experienced wer not very reliable and were sh!tty to reload on. That's the last thing you want when you're reloading, worry if you press will ALLOW you to load. (Edited by spook at 4:25 pm on Jan. 14, 2003)
  16. I would have to go with Saul Kirsh. This Israeli shooter has only competed twice in the World shoot. Was second on his first US Nationals. He placed 5th on llast WS, due to big gun trouble. Here in Europe he has com within 0.9% range with Eric Grauffel. I think that as long as Eric keeps shooting, nobody else will win the WS.
  17. You shoot one of the L-frames right? Why not convert it to a moonclip gun? Clips are cheap and easy in use. If you stick to speedloaders, I would buy the ones that last so I could practice a LOT.

    Sinking Ship

    LMAO, that's funny Dave.
  19. -All Sierra adventures (king's quest, space quest, larry an police quest)
  20. ErikW, It's funny you mention that, because I am one of the few weirdos who use a lab scale for reloading. I have done multiple tests on my RCBS Uniflow measure and my Dillon measures. MY RCBS is more accurate than MY Dillons, period . The Dillon is accurate enough though. I'm not saying this is a general rule. I'm just saying that there are differences between measures. This does not say that single stage loading is more accurate than progressive loading. It isn't. I just wish I could put an RCBS Uniflow on my Dillon
  21. Down0, I think SL and Shred nailed it. I shot one of my best matches coming off a 4 month (!!) layoff. I did some dry-fire practice, but still. It just seems like the chaos of ideas you have just kind of dissolve and the "good things" stay. I recommend myself a layoff now and then. (about a week or two every 6 months).
  22. Patrick, do you recall how big the differences were approximately?
  23. Hawker, I use VV N320. about 4,7 grains (check in a manual, work up carefully and be careful in general!!!) under a 230 grain Frontier copper plated bullet. Federal primer LP 150. It's very soft shooting and makes 170 PF easily. I don't have experiences with Montana's. BTW, I've shot VVN340 for a while and it ís not close to 320 in the softness department. Go with fast powders and heavy bullets if you want soft. 310 or 320 if you want VV powders.
  24. Limited40, there are .357 magnum K-frames. Like the 66. They're less durable though when using lots of "hot loads".
  25. Intel is right. Only size, and you have the square butts and the round butts. My smith prefers K and L frames, because (he says) they're smaller, so all moving parts and forces can be smaller/lighter, resulting in a nicer trigger. I believed him, until I saw that Jerry Miculek set all of his records with N frames . I doesn't matter that much. Maybe on a "feel" level, but I think you can become world champion with any frame if you're good enough. The guy who came in second at the World Shoot (behind Jerry) shot minor with a K or L frame. He had 84% of jerry Miculek. That is awesome. It doesn't matter that much. (Edited by spook at 2:12 pm on Jan. 10, 2003)
